Tonight, we have a tiny three-game slate. However, there are still plenty of options to choose from and we will cover a few of them below. Aside from reading this 11/8 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. 11/8 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Ottawa Senators (+145) at Toronto Maple Leafs (-175)7 Projected Goal Total

Florida Panthers (-142) at Washington Capitals (+120)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Los Angeles Kings (+120) at Vegas Golden Knights (-142)6 Projected Goal Total

Toronto Two – “John Tavares ($7,000), Tyler Bertuzzi ($3,700), William Nylander ($7,900)”

They haven’t really done anything special to date and statistically have been mediocre as far as the top two lines go. However, Toronto sticks out on this slate as a -175 home favorite in a game with a seven total. The first line sucks up a lot of salary although even at $9,600, Auston Matthews will be the most popular player on the slate. Overall, we save $1,000 in salary using the second line and Tyler Bertuzzi seems like a bargain at his price while waiting for a breakout with his new team. John Tavares comes in averaging 13.6 DraftKings points per game and William Nylander isn’t too far off of Auston Matthews’s average with 17.5 DraftKings points per game.

11/8 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Ottawa Senators Two – “Tim Stutzle ($6,600), Claude Giroux ($5,600), Mathieu Joseph ($4,400)”

Toronto Two should be popular and on a small slate, ownership matters. This isn’t the spot to play cash games so with that in mind let’s roll the game stack. As mentioned and listed above, the total in this game is set for seven. The Senators may be +145 underdogs but that doesn’t mean they won’t light up the lamp a few times.

Granted, the sample size below includes Brady Tkachuk and not Mathieu Joseph but this line is fifth among all NHL lines in terms of SATF. They are also moderately priced, thus allowing us to continue to fill out our lines without much hardship.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

John Klingberg – Toronto -$3,200 – Klinger has both even strength correlation and power play correlation (Tavares, Nylander) with the Maple Leaf’s second line. Unlike on the bigger slates, it is fine to stack up a little bit here hoping a line/team goes off. The fact he is also dirt cheap does not hurt either.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson – Florida Panthers – $4,200 – Filling in as the quarterback of the Panther’s top powerplay unit in Aaron Ekblad’s absence. It remains to be seen whether he can really replace Ekblad’s production but that said Ekblad was routinely priced about $2,000 higher than this salary-wise all of last year.

Goalie

Adin Hill – Vegas – $8,000 – Given it’s only a three-game slate, I think we have to take a stand here. It wouldn’t make much sense to use a goalie from the first game given the writeups above. Since the late game only has a six total, it seems like the place to look for our goalie. Adin Hill has been phenomenal so far this season with a 1.81 GAA and .938 SV%. He should face some decent volume here and hopefully grab the win with Vegas -142 favorites tonight.

11/8 NHL Best Bet

Panthers v. Capitals – U 6.5 (-112) – DraftKings – This is a fairly rough slate for betting. Let’s roll with a sleepy game in Washington.

It’s November 4th and the Hot Shot is making a rare weekend appearance. Tonight, we have a huge thirteen-game slate. There are plenty of options to choose from and we will cover a few of them below. Aside from reading this 11/4 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

11/4 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Los Angeles Kings (+100) at Ottawa Senators (-120)7 Projected Goal Total

Boston Bruins (-148) at Detroit Red Wings (+124)6 Projected Goal Total

Montreal Canadiens (-102) at St. Louis Blues (-118)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Buffalo Sabres (+180) at Toronto Maple Leafs (-218)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Columbus Blue Jackets (+120) at Washington Capitals (-142)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Carolina Hurricanes (-120) at New York Islanders (+100)5.5 Projected Goal Total

New York Rangers (-110) at Minnesota Wild (-110)6 Projected Goal Total

Florida Panthers (-198) at Chicago Blackhawks (+164)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Los Angeles Kings (-170) at Philadelphia Flyers (+142)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Colorado Avalanche (-110) at Vegas Golden Knights (-110)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Calgary Flames (+105) at Seattle Kraken (-125)6 Projected Goal Total

Pittsburgh Penguins (-230) at San Jose Sharks (+190)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Dallas Stars (-125) at Vancouver Canucks (+105)6 Projected Goal Total

Pittsburgh One – “Sidney Crosby ($8,000), Bryan Rust ($5,800), Jake Guentzel ($7,500)” – Prioritize the first two skaters

With such a huge slate, ownership is not an issue. On that note, I’m surprised the Penguins are only -230 favorites despite that still being the biggest favorite on the slate. Perhaps it is because they are traveling to the West Coast for this one, there could be no other reason. They will be matching up with our favorite whipping post this season, the San Jose Sharks. It is certainly no secret they have been awful this far. They are 0-9 on the season “only one such loss was in overtime” and coming off a 10-1 home loss to the Canucks “in which J.T. Miller and Brock Boeser did the Hot Shot justice”.

It just so happens that Pittsburgh One leads all NHL lines in SATF “157” which encompasses all shot attempts. They are also third among all NHL lines with nine line-oriented goals. With the size of the slate, we have to pick an odd man out and I think that’s Jake Guentzel, at least on DraftKings. Guentzel only has two goals on the season so for $7,500 it’s just a bit too much. Sidney Crosby is the primary catalyst for the line and fills a center spot and Bryan Rust “five goals, two assists” is simply too cheap at $5,800. With the bigger slate, we will want to use third two-man stacks to try to capture production.

11/4 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

New York Rangers Two – “Vincent Trocheck ($4,500), Artemi Panarin ($6,800), Alexis Lafreniere ($3,600)”– prioritize the first two skaters

This season the Rangers have been known more for their defensive prowess. They are also dealing with a number of injuries. This is a pick ’em matchup with the Rangers traveling to Minnesota and only a six total, what gives? Well, I think this is a sneaky spot with the Wild allowing a ton of goals as of late. Using the Rangers’ top line in two-man form with Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider is not the worst move either. However, when you look up at the graphic above you can see this line is fourth in the NHL in SATF “122”. As a result, they are generating a lot of opportunities. With Filip Chytil’s injury, Vincent Trocheck has moved up to the second line and now also features on the top power-play unit for only $4,500. As for Artemi Panarin, he has been an absolute machine with 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 10 ten games so far. Let’s fire up this contrarian two-man as one of our three two-man pairings.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

K’Andre Miller – New York Rangers -$3,100 – Back to well here as there’s been no significant price increase. On a slate like this we simply can’t spend money on defensemen. He should be seeing some extra time “as with all Rangers defensemen” now that the star of the Ranger’s defense, Adam Fox, is on the IR. I’ll have you know, it is well documented I am not a Rangers fan of any sort, but I have to write what I see.

Kevin Shattenkirk – Boston Bruins – $3,800 – He hasn’t done anything yet this season, but wit Charlie McAvoy’s four-game suspension, Kevin Shattenkirk is filling his role. Just the fact he is quarterbacking the Bruins’ power-play unit for under $4,000 is enough here.

Goalie

Jake Oettinger – Dallas Stars – $8,000 – With a six total this is projected to be one of the lowest-scoring games on the slate. Jake Oettinger has been putting up Vezina Trophy-winning numbers so far “1.95 GAA, .939 SV %”. He also remains undefeated in regulation this season, fire him up!

Jonathan Quick – New York Rangers – $7,800 – It feels like Rangers overload for a thirteen-game slate and he’s only had two starts so far but what starts they have been. He has a 0.41 GAA and .982 SV % and it’s fair to say that is nowhere near sustainable and his numbers will only digress. He should see a fair amount of shots too, so high risk, high reward.

Ilya Sorokin – New York Islanders – $7,800 – He didn’t get the start when I wrote him up Thursday and Semyon Varlamov ate in his absence. However, today he has been confirmed in net early. Here we have another 5.5 total game which bodes well for Sorokin. The Islanders are slight underdogs but figure it will be the defense/goaltending that keeps this close.

11/4 NHL Best Bet

Pittsburgh -1.5 (-102) – DraftKings – This one does not need much explanation, the Sharks are addressed above. The Penguins have no excuse for not destroying than sans “variance”.

It’s November 2nd and the Hot Shot is on the second night of a back-to-back. Tonight, we have a fairly large twelve-game slate. There are plenty of options to choose from and we will cover a few of them below. Aside from reading this 11/2 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

11/2 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Los Angeles Kings (-115) at Ottawa Senators (-105)7 Projected Goal Total

Florida Panthers (-115) at Detroit Red Wings (-105)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Carolina Hurricanes (+100) at New York Rangers (-120)5.5 Projected Goal Total

New York Islanders (-125) at Washington Capitals (+105)5.5 Projected Goal Total

Tampa Bay Lightning (-162) at Columbus Blue Jackets (+136)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Toronto Maple Leafs (+105) at Boston Bruins (-125)6 Projected Goal Total

New Jersey Devils (-125) at Minnesota Wild (+105)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Dallas Stars (+110) at Edmonton Oilers (-130)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Montreal Canadiens (+110) at Arizona Coyotes (-130)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Winnipeg Jets (+142) at Vegas Golden Knights (-162)6 Projected Goal Total

Nashville Predators (+114) at Seattle Kraken (-135)6 Projected Goal Total

Vancouver Canucks (-205) at San Jose Sharks (+170)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Vancouver Two – “J.T. Miller ($6,500), Brock Boeser ($6,100), Phil Di Guiseppe ($3,300)” – Prioritize the first two skaters

We’ve seen the Canucks have some big games before this season. Early on they ripped Edmonton to shreds. However, let’s face it this pick is mostly about their opponent, the lowly Sharks. San Jose has lost all nine of their games to start the season and has allowed 35 goals, second-most in the NHL. I like the New Jersey Devils too facing the team that has allowed the outright most “38” the flailing Minnesota Wild. However, Minnesota’s issue is merely one of poor form, whereas the Shark’s issues run much deeper. It may come as no surprise to anyone that they are the largest underdogs on this twelve-game slate at +175.

Vancouver’s second line has been its best statistically, tied for fourth in the NHL among lines with seven full-line goals. Their peripheral stats support their production to date as they are also ninth in the NHL in SATF “103”. Phil Di Guiseppe is an add-on only if you need to save some salary. Otherwise, on this large of a slate, I would prioritize the other two and aim for three pairs of two-man stacks.

11/2 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Los Angeles One – “Anze Kopitar ($5,600), Kevin Fiala ($6,200), Quinton Byfield ($3,700)”– prioritize the first two skaters

This game does have an early start and there’s a seven projected game total so perhaps they won’t be that contrarian. That said, with so many big names on the slate, will people really be piling on the Kings’ top line? As is ownership won’t be too much of an issue with twelve games. Statistically, this line is solid as they are sixteenth in the NHL in SATF “88” so not too far off of Vancouver Two listed above in that regard.

While both of the Kings’ lines are in play, I passed on the second line. Alex Laferriere only has two points across nine games. The pairing of Pierre-Luc Dubois and Kevin Fiala does not have much production to date either despite a solid SATF “97”, good for eleventh in the NHL. Fiala may have 12 points but 11 of them have been assists and that won’t cut it for $6,200 on this slate. Pierre-Luc Dubois is averaging below a point per game with six points “3 goals, 3 assists” in nine games. Meanwhile, Anze Kopitar has nine points in nine games “4 goals, 5 assists” and Adrian Kempe has the same nine points “3 goals, 6 assists” and we save $100 on salary with the pair.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

K’Andre Miller – New York Rangers -$2,900 – Solid production for a sub $3,000 punt. K’Andre Miller has seven points in nine games so far “1 goal, 6 assists” making his production a rarity among the now defensive-minded Rangers. He is averaging 7.4 DraftKings points per game and at this price, we will gladly take that.

Dakota Mermis – Minnesota Wild – $2,900 – Seeing more minutes due to a number of injuries. Dakota Mermis has four points in seven games but that includes two goals. If we use the two defensemen listed, the top two skaters from each line listed and our top goaltender below, it leaves $6,100 for a third two-man stack.

Goalie

Ilya Sorokin – New York Islanders – $7,900 – With our pair of two-man stacks from above leaving $5,180 in salary, picking a goalie is our next move. This pulls from one of the two 5.5 total games on the slate, a phenomenon seldom seen in the last two years. Ilya Sorokin maybe not living up to his standards so far with a 2.99 GAA and a .910 SV % but Vegas is trying to yell at us that regression should be in order. The host Capitals have only scored 19 goals this season, tied for third-worst in the NHL. It is doubtful Nicklas Backstrom’s sudden departure for health reasons will help their cause.

11/2 NHL Best Bet

Edmonton ML (-130) – DraftKings – The Oilers have been fairly shitty as of late, coming into this at 2-5-1. They have also allowed a lot of goals “32” as opposed to Dallas’ 18 goals allowed to date. However, they did have to do without Connor McDavid for a few games, so you know, hurts a bit when you’re missing the best player in the world. With Dallas coming in on the second night of a back-to-back, Edmonton should also miss out on facing Jake Oettinger in net as well. Instead, they get to face crappy journeyman backup goalie, Scott Wedgewood. This seems like a solid get-right spot for the Oilers now that the gang is back together.

It’s Week Four of the NHL Season and the Hot Shot is here to help you start off November. Tonight, we have a smaller-sized four-game slate. There are plenty of options to choose from and we will cover a few of them below. Aside from reading this 11/1 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

11/1 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Buffalo Sabres (-115) at Philadelphia Flyers (-105)7 Projected Goal Total

Dallas Stars (-135) at Calgary Flames (+114)6 Projected Goal Total

St. Louis Blues (+195) at Colorado Avalanche (-238)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Arizona Coyotes (-125) at Anaheim Ducks (+105)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Colorado One – “Nathan MacKinnon ($9,500), Arturri Lehkonen ($6,300), Mikko Rantanen ($8,200)”

You probably don’t need me to tell you this. Nonetheless, on a smaller slate like this, the top line for the Avalanche will be popular. From an odds perspective, Colorado sticks out as a -238 moneyline favorite whereas the other matchups have fairly close odds. The line here is set at 6.5 and the expectation is the top line should do the most damage. Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen are the stars here but using Lehkonen gives us some much-needed salary relief.

Overall, it’s a very expensive line so you will need to pair it with a second or third line. That said, it’s not the worst idea to mix it up when using them so as to be a bit different. On the year, MacKinnon has 7 points over eight games (4 goals, 3 assists), Rantanen has 12 points over eight games (5 goals, 7 assists), and Lehkonen has 6 points (2 goals, 4 assists) in the same eight games. If looking for an add-on to this line, Calar Makar makes sense but that is a lot of salary so it would be hard to do with both MacKinnon and Rantanen already in there. He will also be a GTD so we may want to watch that situation as one of the other defensemen might get a boosted role if he is out for a lesser price “Devon Toews would be most likely to take his spot”.

11/1 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Anaheim Two – “Mason McTavish ($5,300), Frank Vatrano ($6,800), Ryan Strome ($4,400)”

This line is both cheap and has been extremely productive to date. They are second in the NHL in goals scored among lines so far this season. Furthermore, the peripheral stats validate their goals scored to date as their SATF is extremely high (110). With money and ownership considered I like them even more than Colorado One tonight. Pavel Mintyukov ($4,100) makes sense for additional correlation as he skates with this line at even strength. So far Mason McTavish has 11 points in 9 games (5 goals, 6 assists), Frank Vatrano has 10 points in 9 games (a whopping 9 goals and 1 assist), and Ryan Strome has 11 points in 9 games but he basically the reverse of Vatrano (2 goals, 9 assists). The Ducks are home underdogs at +105 but the total is set at 6.5 and it should be close.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

Pavel Mintyukov – Anaheim -$4,100 – He quarterbacks the Duck’s power play and provides even strength correlation with the second line listed above. I don’t think we need much more here for $4,100.

Devon Toews – Colorado – $4,300 – If Cale Makar is out, he becomes a no-brainer plug-in at $4,300. Unfortunately, this game does not start until 9:30 E.T. However, it makes sense to play at least one defenseman and to have a switch ready in one of the two late games. You can also just plug Toews in any way as he wouldn’t be a bad play if Makar was in to begin with.

Goalies

Jake Oettinger – Dallas – $8,000 – Solid through four games, sporting a 1.74 GAA and a .940 SV%. Dallas are -135 favorites in the lowest total game of the night, set at six. He seems like the cash play and the “safe” play for GPPS.

Jordan Binnington – St. Louis – $7,000 – Binnington continues to smash this season (2.33 GAA/.926 SV%), resulting in an average of 15.4 FPPG on DraftKings. He is coming off back-to-back losses so maybe slowing down but as a result, people will jump off the wagon. The Blues are hefty +195 underdogs and the shot volume should be there. He also makes for a perfect leverage piece against the Avalanche if you’re fading them.

11/1 NHL Best Bet

Anaheim ML (+105) – DraftKings – 1 Unit

They are hosting the Coyotes and have one of the hottest lines in the NHL and they have plus odds. What more do you need?

It’s Week Three of the NHL Season and the Hot Shot is here to help you check all of the boxes. Tonight, we have a decent-sized eleven-game slate. There are plenty of options to choose from and we will cover a few of them below. Aside from reading this 10/26 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

10/26 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Anaheim Ducks (+250) at Boston Bruins (-310)6 Projected Goal Total

Columbus Blue Jackets (+100) at Montreal Canadiens (-120)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Winnipeg Jets (-118) at Detroit Red Wings (-102)6.5 Projected Goal Total

San Jose Sharks (+240) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-298)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Colorado Avalanche (-142) at Pittsburgh Penguins (+120)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Seattle Kraken (+164) at Carolina Hurricanes (-198)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Minnesota Wild (-120) at Philadelphia Flyers (+100)6 Projected Goal Total

Ottawa Senators (+105) at New York Islanders (-125)6 Projected Goal Total

Toronto Maple Leafs (+105) at Dallas Stars (-125)6 Projected Goal Total

St. Louis Blues (+160) at Calgary Flames (-192)6 Projected Goal Total

New York Rangers (-125) at Edmonton Oilers (+105)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Detroit One – “Dylan Larkin ($7,400), Alex DeBrincat ($7,500), Lucas Raymond ($4,200)”

This line has been absolutely magnificent to start off the season. Dylan Larkin has 14 points over 7 games (four goals, ten assists), that’s very good. However, Alex DeBrincat has been an absolute monster with 13 points over 7 games but in the form of nine goals and four assists. It goes without saying the focus has been to get him the puck. Finally, Lucas Raymond has been lapping up the scraps left behind by his linemates with 5 points across 7 games. At $4,200, he does give us some salary relief. As a full line, they have twice as many goals (12) as any other line in the NHL over the first three weeks.

Tonight, the Wings host the Jets in a 6.5 projected total affair and it will be no surprise if they are popular. It must be noted that Alex DeBrincat missed practice on Wednesday as he was “feeling under the weather”. This is worth watching prior to lock and as this game starts at the beginning of the slate, there will be plenty of time to pivot elsewhere should he sit out. That said, this is the NHL so normally guys don’t sit out because they are feeling a little sick. You can save that sort of explanation for absence for the other major fall-spring sport NBA!

10/26 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Carolina Three – “Jordan Staal ($2,900), Jordan Martinook ($3,200), Jesper Fast ($2,700)”

Use Staal with one of the other two skaters.

This is a pick nearly entirely derived from the metrics. First, we must note that Carolina generally has a good matchup to begin with. The Hurricanes are hefty -195 money line favorites hosting the Kraken in a projected 6.5 total game. So we can check those boxes. However, most people will target the Hurricanes’ top two lines. The third line may not see as much ice time but they have certainly put their limited opportunities to good use. They lead the NHL in SATF which includes all shots, even those missed or blocked. When you also factor in that they are exceptionally cheap, they make for a great off-the-wall line for large field tournaments. I don’t know if you necessarily roll all three here but I’d use Staal with one of the other two.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

Tony DeAngelo- Carolina -$4,300 – He is underperforming as compared to expectations to start the season. That said, it is not like we have that large of a sample size and his price has been reduced accordingly. For now, he is still featuring over Brent Burns with the Hurricanes top powerplay unit.

Dylan DeMelo – Winnipeg – $3,300 -Off to a hot start with 5 points in six games so far. He is averaging a total of 10.4 FPPG on DraftKings. If we anticipate the Detroit top line listed above getting into a shootout, he also provides us a small way to bring the other side back a little.

Goalies

Linus Ullmark – Boston- $8,500 – Ullmark is certainly at a minimum, the preferred cash play. He has been stellar (1.00 GAA/.962 SV%) and at -310 the Bruins are the biggest favorite on the slate, albeit with a low six projected total.

Jordan Binnington – St. Louis – $7,200 – This is the opposite of a cash play. Binnington had been a bit shaky over the last couple of seasons since his stunning rookie debut. However, he has been solid so far this season (1.69 GAA/.945 SV%), resulting in an average of 18.4 FPPG on DraftKings. Tonight, the Blues are decent underdogs at +160, although there is only a six total. If St. Louis wins it will likely be because he was more than worth his relatively low DraftKings price.

10/26 NHL Best Bet

Red Wings ML (-120) – DraftKings – 1 Unit

Detroit is leading the league with a whopping 34 goals scored so far and the Jets defense has lost a touch from previous seasons with the offense nothing to write home about. I think the Wings’ strong form continues at home tonight.

It’s Week Two of the NHL Season and the Hot Shot is here to help you check all of the boxes. Tonight, we have an enormous twelve-game slate. Aside from reading this 10/19 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

10/19 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Nashville Predators (+160) at New York Rangers (-192)6 Projected Goal Total

Toronto Maple Leafs (-130) at Florida Panthers (+110)7 Projected Goal Total

Vancouver Canucks (+120) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-142)7 Projected Goal Total

Calgary Flames (-110) at Buffalo Sabres (-110)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Edmonton Oilers (-218) at Philadelphia Flyers (+180)7 Projected Goal Total

Vegas Golden Knights (-118) at Winnipeg Jets (-102)6 Projected Goal Total

Arizona Coyotes (+105) at St. Louis Blues (-125)6 Projected Goal Total

Los Angeles Kings (-105) at Minnesota Wild (-115)6 Projected Goal Total

Carolina Hurricanes (-148) at Seattle Kraken (+124)6 Projected Goal Total

Dallas Stars (-258) at Anaheim Ducks (+210)6 Projected Goal Total

Boston Bruins (-270) at San Jose Sharks (+220)6 Projected Goal Total

Chicago Blackhawks (+275) at Colorado Avalanche (-345)6 Projected Goal Total

Edmonton Two – “Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ($6,300), Zach Hyman ($6,500), Warren Foegele ($3,100)”

I wrote them up and Edmonton promptly got slaughtered by Vancouver. However, of course, they would explode over their next two games following their mention. Tonight, you have three 7 total games headlining the twelve-game slate. However, where the other two games involve more parity, Oilers vs. Flyers does not. Edmonton is currently listed as -218 money-line favorite. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has had three points in each of his last two games (a goal and two assists in both) so for $6,300 he may give us a solid floor for a fair price. The star of the trio, Leon Draisaitl has moved up to the Oiler’s top line after putting up seven points across three games including a four-point (two goal, two assist) effort last time out against Nashville. That provides us some value through Warren Foegele who has been elevated to Draisaitl’s former spot on the second line for only $3,100. Foegele is coming off a two-point game against the Predators himself. Finally, Zach Hyman is coming off a four-point effort against the Predators as well (one goal, two assists). Both RNH and Hyman have maintained roles on Edmonton’s vaunted top power-play unit.

10/19 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Colorado One – “Nathan MacKinnon ($6,600), Mikko Rantanen ($6,300), Valeri Nichuskin ($3,500)”

It involves a wait until the end of the night and a lot of salary but the Avs might be worth it. Their matchup only has a six total but Colorado are massive moneyline favorites at -345. This said many east coast DFS players may pass on them as they might be asleep by game time. Their loss is our gain. It has been a solid start so far for the young Blackhawks. However, one year removed from a Stanley Cup this might be a bounceback year for the Avs. They are third in the NHL “at least the two man of Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen” in terms of full-line goals so far in the young season.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

Pavel Mintyukov – Anaheim – $3,300 – The tenth overall pick of the 2022 draft has looked great so far. He puts shots on the net and is a capable scorer but can also earn the bonus for blocked shots. Mintyukov will have plenty of opportunities as he already features on the Duck’s top power-play unit. His price is affordable on a slate we want to save every dollar.

Cale Makar – Colorado -$7,700 – He is super expensive but that’s because he’s more like a top-scoring forward than a defenseman. If going all in on Colorado One as listed above, he makes for a full correlation with them. Something tells me this might be a career year for the young star and he may go off tonight.

Goalies

Carter Hart – Philadelphia- $7,200 – If you’re fading Edmonton, Hart makes for a terrific upside tournament play and carries some leverage. That said, he is certainly not a cash play or for the faint of “Hart” if you will.

Thatcher Demko – Vancouver – $7,400 – Not the easiest matchup but this is also a watered-down Lightning squad compared to years past that Demko will match up with. He is off to a phenomenal start to the season with a 1.70 GAA and .953 SV% and you have to trust the talent.

10/19 NHL Best Bet

Vancouver ML (+120) – DraftKings – 1 Unit

Following up on the note on Demko above, this is a Tampa team missing its heart and soul in Steven Stamkos and Andrei Vasilevskiy. The Lightning’s -4 point differential is tied for worst in the Eastern Conference early on. I wouldn’t be surprised if we look back on this later this season and say “Of course, we’d take Vancouver in that spot”. For now, we just side with the plus money.

It’s been a long break between periods but the NHL and the Hot Shot are back! Tonight, we have a juicy seven-game slate. Aside from reading this 10/12 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

10/12 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

New York Rangers (-125) at Buffalo Sabres (+105)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Philadelphia Flyers (+110) at Columbus Blue Jackets (-130)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Detroit Red Wings (+215) at New Jersey Devils (-265)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Seattle Kraken (-110) at Nashville Predators (-110)6 Projected Goal Total

St. Louis Blues (+170) at Dallas Stars (-205)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Florida Panthers (+105) at Minnesota Wild (-125)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Vegas Golden Knights (-245) at San Jose Sharks (+200)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Vegas One – “Jack Eichel ($7,900), Jonathan Marchessault ($6,500), Ivan Barbashev ($4,800)”

This line should be chalky but you can always try to be different with the rest of your build. The core two players are Jack Eichel and 2022 playoff hero Jonathan Marchessault. This slate has a lot more parity than yesterday’s but at -245, the Golden Knights are up there with the Devils (-265) for the title of the slate’s biggest favorite. Both Eichel and Marchessault share additional correlation on the top power-play unit for Vegas.

10/12 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Columbus One – “Patrik Laine ($6,600), Johnny Gaudreau ($6,300), Cole Sillinger ($3,500)”

I am listing this as my contrarian line as I am not sure this is how people will be looking to spend their money. These guys probably bring back nightmares for most NHL DFS players of burned money from 2022. However, it is a new season and they are still uber talented. The Blue Jackets are -130 money-line favorites at home facing the Flyers in a 6.5 total game so it’s not a bad spot. While the Devils, Golden Knights, Rangers, and others soak up ownership, this line has slate breaking upside.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

Cam York – Philadelphia – $3,500 – Cam York is now the quarterback of the Flyer’s powerplay unit and skates with the top unit at full strength as well. He is underpriced for his role at $3,500. If you are running the Columbus line listed above he makes additional sense as a way to bring the other side back in case this game turns into a shootout.

Calen Addison – Minnesota -$2,500 – This guy was not exactly great despite opportunities last season. However, it seems he will continue to play with the top power-play unit and he comes in at the dead minimum price-wise. The Wild are home favorites (-125) in a 6.5 total game so maybe he grabs an assist or two and allows us to spend up elsewhere.

Goalies

Igor Shesterkin – New York Rangers – $8,000 – Following a sophomore slump, I believe in the talent here. We will see if Igor can get off the ground running.

Sergei Bobrovsky – Florida – $7,600 – Perhaps not the cash play tonight but this 2022 Panther’s playoffs star has a wide range of outcomes here. If Minnesota can’t put one past him, he may have a big night.

10/12 NHL Best Bet

Columbus ML (-130) – DraftKings – 1 Unit

They both underperformed and had a lot of injuries last season. However, simply put, this is a much more talented team than the Flyers “Sorry Jon Love”. They should start off the season with a home win but trying to aim for the puck line here may be too lofty an ambition.

It’s been a long break between periods but the NHL and the Hot Shot are back! Tonight, we have a nice six-game slate, not overwhelming but by the same token we have few limitations in terms of lineup builds. Aside from reading this 10/11 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

10/11 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Montreal Canadiens (+240) at Toronto Maple Leafs (-298)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Ottawa Senators (+170) at Carolina Hurricanes (-205)6 Projected Goal Total

Chicago Blackhawks (+245) at Boston Bruins (-305)6 Projected Goal Total

Winnipeg Jets (+114) at Calgary Flames (-135)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Edmonton Oilers (-162) at Vancouver Canucks (+136)7 Projected Goal Total

Colorado Avalanche (-110) at Los Angeles Kings (-110)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Edmonton Two – “Leon Draisaitl ($8,600), Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ($5,100), Zach Hyman ($5,800)”

It is opening night for most teams and we don’t have any current stats to work off of. However, this game should feature considerable scoring as the seven total indicates. Edmonton comes in -162 road favorites and the expectation is we see the same old Oilers capable of piling up the points. Between the two top lines, I prefer the second as not only is it the more balanced line but all three skaters share additional correlation on the top power-play unit to start the season.

10/11 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Vancouver Two – “J.T. Miller ($6,800), Brock Boeser ($4,400), Phil Di Giuseppe ($3,100)”

Let’s bring it back with a game stack! Most people will gravitate to the top lines belonging to the night’s favorites. However, Edmonton gives up goals with the best of them so I don’t mind bringing their top line back. We also get a little bit of much-needed salary relief in the process in the form of Phil Di Giuseppe. This line features two skaters on the Canuck’s top power-play unit and should have some chemistry having played together as a full line for most of last season.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

John Klingberg – Toronto – $3,200 – John Klingberg finds himself usurping Morgan Rielly as the Leaf’s top offensive defenseman. The crafty veteran has found a solid landing spot. He is priced like a punt at $3,200 so a very easy play tonight.

Evan Bouchard – Edmonton -$6,100 – He should just fall into points given his prominent role on Edmonton’s top line and top power-play unit.

Goalies

Linus Ullmark – Boston – $8,500 – I think Chicago finds a way to pepper him with enough shot volume. However, they fall short in terms of getting these shots past the Boston goaltender. With Boston -305 money line favorites and with a six total, Ullmark gives us our best shot at a shutout win.

Connor Hellebuyck – Winnipeg – $7,500 – I just can’t quit Hellebuyck but this shapes up as a solid matchup for our man with some upside to boot.

10/11 NHL Best Bet

Boston -1.5 (-105) – DraftKings – 1 Unit

It just seems like it might be a big ask for young Conor Bedard and the Blackhawks to tame the mighty Bruins. Particularly, on the second night of a road back-to-back. Chicago is living life on high after an opening night win but it will be back to earth for them tonight. Boston will probably want to come out with a fury given their first-round playoff exit following a historic season.

It’s been quite a ride. Through the best of times, the worst of times. Many periods later we find ourselves here on the final day of the NHL regular season. There are fifteen games on this giant slate so without further adieu, let’s dig in below. Aside from reading the 4/13 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

4/13 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

New Jersey Devils (-175) at Washington Capitals (+150)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Boston Bruins (-275) at Montreal Canadiens (+230)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Pittsburgh Penguins (-170) at Columbus Blue Jackets (+145)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Carolina Hurricanes (+100) at Florida Panthers (-120)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Toronto Maple Leafs (+110) at New York Rangers (-130)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Ottawa Senators (+115) at Buffalo Sabres (-135)7 Projected Goal Total

Detroit Red Wings (+200) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-240)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Minnesota Wild (-110) at Nashville Predators (-110)5.5 Projected Goal Total

Winnipeg Jets (+135) at Colorado Avalanche (-155)6 Projected Goal Total

St. Louis Blues (+190) at Dallas Stars (-225)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Philadelphia Flyers (-120) at Chicago Blackhawks (+100)6 Projected Goal Total

San Jose Sharks (+350) at Edmonton Oilers (-435)7 Projected Goal Total

Los Angeles Kings (-225) at Anaheim Ducks (+190)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Vancouver Canucks (-150) at Arizona Coyotes (+130)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Vegas Golden Knights (-120) at Seattle Kraken (+100)6 Projected Goal Total

4/13 NHL Favorite Line

Edmonton One – “Connor McDavid ($10,200), Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ($7,100)(TWO-MAN STACK)

Even on such a huge slate, Edmonton sticks out. The Oilers are -435 money-line favorites in a seven-goal game. With their prices, of course, you’re instantly in a stars and scrubs situation salary-wise. However, on this large of a slate, we can find value elsewhere. So now it comes down to which Edmonton line you want to target, first, second, or a power-play combination. My lean is with the top line as they represent 3/5 top power-play skaters as opposed to solely one. However, Zach Hyman has had a very low ceiling recently and is expensive much like the other two skaters. I like the two-man build with Conor McDavid and RNH and we can look to save money on other spots.

4/13 NHL Second Favorite Line

Pittsburgh One – “Sidney Crosby ($7,900), Jake Guentzel ($7,500), Rikard Rakell ($6,100)”

It may be too little, too late for the Penguin’s playoff hopes. However, that probably won’t stop them from taking out their frustrations on the Blue Jackets. I’d say abysmal may be a kind way to describe Columbus at the moment. They come in losers of four straight with a goal differential of -114 for the season “second worst in the NHL this season”. Pittsburgh’s top line has been absolutely smashing both in terms of actual goals and peripheral stats. They have eight goals in their last ten games “tied for second in the NHL” and are second in SATF over that span “129”. I don’t know how much I really have to add here given the matchup. The Blue Jackets will just be happy the season is over and look not to surrender 7-8 goals.

10-Day Sample Size – Goals Scored

4/13 NHL Third Favorite Line

Buffalo Two – “Tage Thompson ($8,100), Dylan Cozens ($5,800), Jordan Greenway ($2,700)”

The Sabres defied expectations this season despite falling short of a playoff spot. On the final day of the regular season, they find themselves in a cushy seven-total matchup versus Ottawa. Of course, let’s turn to Buffalo’s second line over their top line. I mean what is playing Sabres in DFS if you don’t have Tage Thompson in there? Jordan Greenway is usable for salary relief. Considering how expensive the Edmonton combo and Pittsburgh lines listed above are, he may come in necessary if following the article. If you wanted a really unique build you could bring it back with Senators for a game stack. Ottawa’s top line is seventh among all NHL lines in SATF over the last ten games.

10-Day Sample Size – SATF “includes all shot attempts such as blocked shots and missed shots”

Defenseman and Goalie

Defenseman

Devon Toews – Colorado – $5,500 – He continues to be a nightly lock under $6,000 with Cale Makar out until at least the playoffs. Don’t overthink it.

Goalie

Juuse Saros – Nashville Predators – $7,300 – The Predators may be eliminated now. However, Saros has been on absolute fire as of late. His price is very fair as well, hovering just over $7,000. Considering this is a 5.5 total affair, it’s safe to say it probably won’t be any shootout.

4/13 NHL Best Bet

Florida Panthers (-120) – DraftKings – 1 Unit – Because I just know they will ruin things for the Islanders. The Panthers are just too hot right now (6-3-1 last ten games) to pass up in that sort of raucous home atmosphere.

Rarely this season have we seen the likes of a FOURTEEN game slate. It’s hard to settle on one or two spots tonight and thus we have you covered with a number of possible options. Aside from reading the 4/6 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

4/6 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Toronto Maple Leafs (+135) at Boston Bruins (-155)6 Projected Goal Total

Washington Capitals (-165) at Montreal Canadiens (+140)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Buffalo Sabres (-110) at Detroit Red Wings (-110)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Ottawa Senators (+200) at Florida Panthers (-240)7 Projected Goal Total

Columbus Blue Jackets (+320) at New Jersey Devils (-390)7 Projected Goal Total

Minnesota Wild (+105) at Pittsburgh Penguins (-125)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Tampa Bay Lightning (-105) at New York Islanders (-115)5.5 Projected Goal Total

Carolina Hurricanes (-175) at Nashville Predators (+150)5.5 Projected Goal Total

New York Rangers (-150) at St. Louis Blues (+130)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Philadelphia Flyers (+230) at Dallas Stars (-275)6 Projected Goal Total

Chicago Blackhawks (+170) at Vancouver Canucks (-200)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Los Angeles Kings (+120) at Las Vegas Golden Knights (-140)6 Projected Goal Total

Arizona Coyotes (+290) at Seattle Kraken (-350)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Colorado Avalanche (-230) at San Jose Sharks (+195)6.5 Projected Goal Total

4/6 NHL Favorite Line

New Jersey Two – “Jack Hughes ($8,500), Jesper Bratt ($5,400), Ondrej Palat ($3,600)”

I don’t think ownership really matters here with fourteen games, so I’ll do away with the whole Popular/Contrarian concept. Jack Hughes and the Devils have slowed their roll over the second half of the season after a very hot start. However, tonight they get to face off with the putrid Columbus Blue Jackets “more below”.

Not surprisingly, given Columbus’ struggles, New Jersey is a hefty -390 money-line favorite in this seven-total affair. Their 89 SATF over the last ten games is good for nineteenth among NHL lines over that span. More than anything else this is a matter of targeting the matchup. I mean, even the Montreal Canadiens were able to drop eight on the Blue Jackets within the last few weeks. I would not be surprised to see the Devil’s second line explode here.

4/6 NHL Second Favorite Line

Florida One – “Aleksandr Barkov ($7,500), Carter Verhaeghe ($7,300), Anthony Duclair ($4,300)”

It might be chasing but we picked the wrong Florida line last time out. They beat the Blue Jackets up 7-0 in Columbus just five days ago and Carter Verhaeghe scored four goals. While that sort of output is an anomaly, I think it is fair to say the Panthers are expected to score a few here as the total and -240 money line status both indicate.

The Panthers certainly have a lot to play for at the moment as well. Currently, they are one of three teams competing for two Eastern Conference wild-card spots. While Matthew Tkachuk is enticing, the rest of the second line is lacking. As a result, let’s turn to the top line and hope that a few days ago, it was the start of something special. Anthony Duclair has yet to break out since his return but this is the sort of matchup that might do the trick. If running this as a two-man stack, he would be the odd man out.

4/6 NHL Honorable Mentions “Two-Man Stacks”

Vancouver Two – “J.T. Miller ($6,600), Brock Boeser ($5,100)

Two skaters who are building blocks of the Canucks and in fine form as you can see from the graphic below. They are currently tied for second in the NHL in SATF over the last ten games. Vancouver is a -200 favorite against the Blackhawks in a 6.5 total matchup. I don’t need if we really need to go to Phil Di Guiseppe and a full three-man line here on such a big slate.

Seattle One – “Matthew Beniers ($5,000), Jared McCann ($5,900)”

The Kraken are -350 favorites in a 6.5 total matchup vs. the Coyotes. Much like all of the aforementioned lines you get the point. This line is also tied with the line listed above for second in the NHL in SATF over the last ten games. However, I am leaving off Jordan Eberle. It just looks like he’s not going to find the sort of form he had his first year in Seattle or previously with the Islanders. If he was $3,600 sure not for the $5,000 price which is around the same as the two listed skaters.

10-Day Sample Size – SATF “includes all shot attempts such as blocked shots and missed shots”.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

Devon Toews – Colorado – $4,900 “if Cale Makar is out, my top play”, Jake Sanderson – Ottawa – $4,900, J.J. Moser – Arizona – $3,600, Mark Giordano – Toronto – $3,500

Goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury – Minnesota – $7,600 – The flower has smelled sweet as of late, winner of his last eight of ten starts. He draws a homecoming of sorts here against the Penguins for a very fair price.

Alex Lyon – Florida – $7,700 – Winner of his four last starts, Lyon is a man on a mission. Florida is favored here, but I think Ottawa should put up a fair amount of shots. Therefore, maybe we can grab the best of both worlds for under $8,000.

Ilya Sorokin – New York Islanders – $7,400 – Great price on a potential Vezina winner like Sorokin. It’s a tough matchup but Vasilevskiy isn’t in the opposing net and the Islanders are favored.

Juuse Saros – Nashville Predators – $7,100 – A hit-or-miss option but great for tournaments. Carolina tends to overwhelm a bit in favored spots. Even if the Hurricanes win, it could be close and low scoring. Prior to a stinker Monday night in Dallas, he was coming off three strong starts.

4/6 NHL Best Bet

Los Angeles Kings (+120) – DraftKings – 1 Unit – Let’s take the plus money on what should be a great game to watch.
