MLB DFS: Aces and Bases – 9/11 (FanDuel Main Slate)

Today’s edition of Aces and Bases focuses ONLY on FanDuel’s eight-game MLB DFS Main Slate for 7:10PM ET, hopefully finding you some green screens!

No rain in the forecast but we do have winds blowing out in St. Louis for the Reds-Cards game — something to consider for Cincinnati GPP stacks.

MLB DFS: The Aces

Top MLB DFS Ace: Walker Buehler ($9,700)

We can chalk up his last outing (3 IP, 7 H, 1 K, 6 ER @SF) to a bad day, and his last start vs. the Padres yielded a solid outcome. The K rate is down a bit in 2021, but the walks are down, the ground ball rate has increased and the solid 2.31 ERA isn’t too far separated from the 3.18/3.59 FIP/xFIP combo. We’re looking at about a 35-40 point projections here, with a 50-point ceiling, and that’s good enough to make him the top SP for cash games and single-entry.

Best GPP Value: Charlie Morton ($9,000)

Morton looks like a solid value tonight against the Marlins, who have the second-highest team K% in MLB. The veteran’s upside probably even exceeds Buehler’s tonight given the matchup, and that upside comes with a built-in discount from the top two arms on the slate in Buehler and Luis Castillo. I’m not as interested in Castillo because of how he can get lit up, especially against a team filled with potent bats like the Cards, but he’d make for a semi-contrarian choice given that tougher matchup. Morton seems to fit the best and carry the highest chance of notching both a QS and W, so he’s my first choice for GPPs.

Contrarian GPP Play: Luis Garcia ($8,300)

Garcia isn’t a very exciting play, but if we need a leverage pivot with some upside, he’s probably it. His ownership should be lower than Morton’s, and he’s seen an uptick in velocity on his pitches lately. The problem is that he’s got a much lower floor than either Morton or Buehler, and while the price is severely discounted compared to DraftKings, he hasn’t notched double-digit Ks in any start this season despite a 10.41 K% because he rarely pitches six full innings.

MLB DFS: The Bases

Top Stack: Houston Astros

The implied run total is well over 5, and the Astros have been red-hot offensively over the past few games, so we should start any stack off with Alex Bregman ($3,200), and then play some combination of Jose Altuve ($3,800) and Yordan Alvarez ($3,400), Carlos Correa ($3,500), Kyle Tucker ($3,200) Yuri Gurriel ($2,900) and value options Michael Brantley ($2,600) and Martin Maldonado ($2,100). There’s really nobody that’s out of consideration given the circular nature of this powerful lineup.

GPP Stack #1: Chicago White Sox

The prices are still relatively affordable for the White Sox (even moreso on DK), with Luis Robert ($3,900), Jose Abreu ($3,800), Eloy Jimenez ($3,500) and Yasmani Grandal ($3,800) all in play for stacks against Red Sox projected starter Connor Seabold. Andrew Vaughn is just $2,300, and both Brian Goodwin ($2,200) and Yoan Moncada ($3,200) are in play as well. It’s simply a great spot for mixing and matching a few different four-man stacks of White Sox.

GPP Stack #2: Cincinnati Reds

Miles Mikolas doesn’t scare me one bit, and while the Reds are a dynamic bunch who can disappoint on occasion, I like the four-man stack of Jonathan India ($3,700), Nick Castellanos ($4,100), Joey Votto ($3,700) and Tyler Naquin ($2,700) the best among this bunch, with Eugenio Suarez ($3,200), Max Schrock ($2,100) and Tucker Barnhart ($2,400) the best of the rest.

Bonus Value Stacks: Seattle Mariners, Minnesota Twins

We’ve got some live arms and potent bats in this edition of Aces and Bases focusing ONLY on FanDuel’s six-game MLB DFS Main Slate for 7:05PM ET.

There’s a couple of bad weather spots to look out for (BOS @ BAL & LAA @ TOR), both of which could offer some scoring opportunities, but we’ll give you some safer and more appealing options.

MLB DFS: The Aces

Top Ace: Ian Anderson ($8,600)

Anderson gave up four hits, two BB and just 1 ER in his 2021 debut against these same Philadelphia Phillies on April 4, striking out seven batters in just 5.0 IP. He’s an electric young pitcher who’s shown us both bat-missing dominance in his career so far (11.57 K/9 in the first 37.1 IP over 2020-21). While it’s tempting to slot in Julio Urias ($10K on FD and a solid pitcher in his own right) Anderson has the most upside on the slate and should be locked into most of your builds.

Best Value: Chris Paddack ($6,900)

Paddack makes sense as a low-cost pivot from Anderson a slate without too many usable DFS arms, and it’s because he sports a low walk rate (5.5% for his career) and 9.46 K/9 rate over 203.2 major league IP. He gives up a few solo shots once in a while, and the 1.64 HR/9 metric is one of the more alarming ones on his resume, but strikeouts and preventing huge innings on FD are king, and that’s where he’ll give you more than any other pitcher at this price point.

MLB DFS: The Bases

Top Stack: Dodgers vs. Nationals (RHP Austin Voth)

There’s only one team in baseball with better offensive numbers than the Dodgers (and we’ll discuss them in a bit), but the Bashers in Blue boast a very respectable .377 team wOBA and 143 wRC+ through the first week couple weeks of the season, and they are deep – which means they can still bring the pain without a couple stud hitters. The low-scoring affair from last night is almost sure to see a turnaround tonight via the bats of Corey Seager ($4,300), Max Muncy ($3,300) and some other relatively low-cost secondary options in the lineups. With Mookie Betts day-to-day with a back injury and Cody Bellinger on the IL, we can take advantage of whatever mispriced bats slot into their usual spots and roll with the 1-4 hitters.

Value/Contrarian Stack: Padres vs. Rangers (RHP Jordan Lyles)

Using the Padres might be the contrarian route when most of the masses turn to the discounted Dodgers and value-packed Reds. I prefer the 1-4 hitters here, with three lefty bats against a right-hander who’s career .357 wOBA versus LHBs gives us something to attack with Trent Grisham ($2,500), Jake Cronenworth ($3,100) and Eric Hosmer ($3,700). Mix in No. 3 hitter Manny Machado ($3,400) at 3B or drift down to Wil Myers ($3,300) and you’ve got a slew of studs without breaking the bank.

Value Stack: Reds vs. Diamondbacks (RHP Riley Smith)

Virtually any four-man combination of the Reds 1-6 hitters today could yield massive returns against RHP Riley Smith. Righty-lefty doesn’t matter all that much with this bunch, as their best two hitters have been right-handed Nick Castellanos ($4,200) and lefty slugging Tyler Naquin ($3,400). We can expect a positive progression from Eugenio Suarez ($3,100), who always has double-dong potential, and veteran Joey Votto ($2,600), who comes at a massive discount in contrast to his career production. Rounding out the stacking possibilities are Mashin’ Mike Moustakas ($3,300), Jesse Winker ($3,000 – who normally leads off against RHP but is day-to-day with a calf injury) and the red-hot Jonathan India ($3,200), who had 10 hits in his fist 21 ABs of 2021.

I’ve got five hitters for you to consider for the early 7/26 MLB DFS 11-game slate in DK GPPs, where it pays to be fearless and swing for the fences!

7/26 MLB DFS – C Robinson Chirinos (DK $3,900) TEX vs. COL

The Rangers offense has been a bit slow out of the gate, but RHBsin that lineup have a favorable matchup vs. LHP Kyle Freeland. One fearless leftymasher who comes at a considerable discount is Chirinos – an ample power sourceat catcher and a guy who often flies under the radar in DFS. If you’re notpaying up for J.T. Realmuto (DK $4,800), Mitch Garver ($4,900) or ChristianVazquez (DK $4,300), Chirinos makes sense as part of a stack or as a one-off tosave a few bucks and get similar upside. *Note: Chirinos battled an ankleinjury near the close of camp and sat out Saturday but looks to be good to gofor today.

7/26 MLB DFS – 1B Joey Votto (DK $3,800) CIN vs. DET

Speaking of discounts, Votto is a relatively inexpensive veteran slugger off to an uncharacteristically hot start, with a couple HRs in his first two games. I’m intrigued by the Reds stack against eminently hittable Spencer Turnbull, who’s been known to issue the occasional free pass and give up the long ball. Spend-up options include Anthony Rizzo (DK $5,000) and one-off Josh Bell (DK $4,900), and the punt-worthy Michael Chavis (DK $2,900) is available at both 1B and 2B – but I’m putting about half my GPP eggs in the Votto basket on the early slate.

7/26 MLB DFS – SS Alex Bregman (DK $4,900) HOU vs. SEA

Thankfully, Bregman is available at both SS and 3B on DK, where there’s a few other guys I’d like to play at the hot corner. The Astros have the second-highest projected total after the Red Sox, and it’s a GPP priority to lock in Bregman and his eye-popping .417 career wOBA vs. LHP against Yusei Kikuchi, a southpaw with a home run problem. Xander Bogaerts (DK $4,600) got the day off Saturday but returns to the BoSox lineup this afternoon, so he’s a viable option as pivot from Bregman, in Boston stacks or alongside Bregman if you plug the latter in at 3B. Red-hot Didi Gregorius (DK $3,500) sticks out as a value option for the Phillies.

7/26 MLB DFS – 3B Mike Moustakas (DK $4,000) CIN vs. DET

I’d like to play both Reds 3B Eugenio Suarez (DK $4,500) and Moustakas on DK, but you have to take your pick since each player is limited to a singular position at the hot corner. While Suarez might see lower ownership, we can probably get our variance elsewhere, as the man who sounds like a delicious Mediterranean casserole comes in with the highest daily simulated projections in the Cincy lineup. He’s the anchor of a 1-2-4-5-6 Reds stack that won’t cost you a bundle, and his upside is similar to more expensive options like Josh Donaldson (DK $4,200) and Rafael Devers (DK $5,200).

7/26 MLB DFS – OF Christian Yelich (DK $5,600) MIL at CHC

I’m on board with using potent Reds leadoff hitter Jesse Winker (DK $3,500) and value option Shogo Akiyama (DK $2,000) – easy-to-fit stack components who could make or break the slate – but my favorite spend-up at OF on DK is Yelich, who annihilated RHPs to the tune of a .473 wOBA and 195 wRC+ in 2019. The Brewers star went 1-for-5 with a dinger in yesterday’s game and we could see the wind blowing out in Wrigley this afternoon. I’m also interested in seeing Joey Gallo (DK $4,300) solve the new roofed park in Texas, so I’ll be mixing in shares of him as well. Yelich is expensive, but my first few builds include him and all of the aforementioned players with Trevor Bauer and Carlos Carrasco at my pitching spots – two of the highest projected starters in the slate.

ANOTHER NOTE: It’s also my 45th birthday today, so taking down one of the big GPPs on DraftKings would be the ultimate present! Good luck… and be fearless!

9/17 DFS Hitting Picks and Stacks: Mets Marauding Melville

We’ve got a loaded 14-game 7:05 EST main slate for MLB 9/17 DFS – one that we’ve got some high game totals for, including another big-time stack at Coors. The lineups get unstable toward the end of the year, but that just gives us more opportunities to embrace the variance and make it fun on this enormous slate.

9/17 DFS Hitting Stacks of the Day

NewYork Mets at Tim Melville (NYM at COL)

The Mets are expensive but have the highest implied total on the slate. Last night they scored just four runs in Coors but on Tuesday get to face Melville, who’s been torched in his three home starts (.516 xwOBA, 9.00 ERA, 6.31 xFIP). I’ll be applying a liberal smattering of Mets hitters in most of my lineups, with most of my exposure coming with the first five hitters: Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil, Michael Conforto, Robinson Cano and Pete Alonso. Wilson Ramos is a very affordable $2,900 on FD as well, where he can be used in one of two spots.

Boston Red Sox vs. Logan Webb (BOS vs. SF)

The Sox may be missing Mookie Betts (foot) but they’re still a powerful bunch of bats in a hitter’s park. Logan Webb has been tuned up for a .400 xwOBA vs. RHP) during his short time in the Majors, and he’s not going to like the ballpark shift from Oracle. The usual suspects (Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinez and Andrew Benintendi) are all $5,000 or under on DK, and Mitch Moreland is just $4,200.

Toronto Blue Jays at Dylan Bundy/Chandler Shepherd

The Blue Jays are a sneaky stack in a slate with Coors Field on the docket, and they’ll be playing in Baltimore, where the homers fly out and the Orioles pitching staff has reached a new nadir in allowing the long ball. I’m stacking the 1-5 with occasional shares of Randal Grichuk ($4,300 DK) and Billy McKinney ($3,300 DK).

Cleveland Indians vs. John Schreiber/Spencer Turnbull (CLE vs.DET)

The Indians are underpriced for the matchup on this 9/17 DFS slate, whether it’s against Schreiber (the possible opener) or Turnbull, who’s really struggled this season (3-15 in 27 starts with a 4.77 ERA and 1.48 WHIP). I’m leaning toward mini-stacks considering there are so many other great matchups on this slate, but feel free to grab shares of the 1-5 hitters and get some exposure to the value bats (Franmil Reyes, Mike Freeman and Jordan Luplow, if he’s in the lineup).

Atlanta Braves at Vince Velazquez (It’s tough to fadeFreeman and Co. in a hitter’s park)

Miami Marlins at LHP Alex Young (all the righties –including my guy Starlin Castro)

Colorado Rockies vs. Marcus Stroman (The contrarian side ofCoors against a decent RHP)

9/17 DFS Hitting Catcher

J.T. Realmuto, PHI at ATL

DK ($4,600) FD ($3,900)

I’m a huge fan of Realmuto, who sports a .443 xwOBA and .227 ISO against LHPs over the past two seasons. It’s a one-off play that should command low ownership and provide a decent floor – as well as immense upside in GPPs.

9/17 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Rowdy Tellez, TOR at BAL

DK ($3,900) FD ($2,600)

Tellez has four homers in his last 11 games, crushes right-handedpitching (.453 xwOBA, .245 ISO since 2018), and bats fourth between Lourdes Gurrieland Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. Tellez is my double-dinger call of the day, and he’snot really thrown off by lefty relievers, either (.430 xwOBA against LHPs since2018).

9/17 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Cavan Biggio, TOR at BAL

DK ($4,500) FD ($3,700)

Biggio is another Jays bat I want exposure to in Camden Yards, where he’s already got three homers in five career games and a 168 OPS+ that screams GPP play. As part of stack or simply a value bat at a reasonable price, Biggio makes a solid play for his speed and power.

9/17 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Matt Chapman, OAK vs. KC

DK ($4,200) FD ($3,600)

Chapman and his surging power numbers (4 HRs in September so far) couldbe overlooked on this slate, and if you’re wary of spending more than $5K for J.D.Davis but still want to get some other Coors bats in, he could be a big help.All these games matter for the A’s, and Chapman (.423 xwOBA and .250 ISO vs.RHPs since 2018) is the heart and soul of their lineup along with Matt Olsonand Marcus Semien, the other two Oakland bats with 30+ homers this year.

9/17 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Francisco Lindor, CLE vs. DET

DK ($4,800) FD ($4,000)

Lindor is my favorite shortstop of this slate. He gets lotsof ABs and benefits from a circular Indians lineup that has some decent hittersat the bottom of the order – giving him some run-creating opportunities alongwith table-setting ability. His price is cheaper than Xander Bogaerts, Trevor Storyand Bo Bichette on DK (with just as much GPP upside) and he’s playable in allformats at home (where he owns a .386 wOBA and .403 xwOBA sine 2018) against theTigers.

9/17 DFS Hitting Outfielders

J.D. Martinez, BOS vs. SF

DK ($4,000) FD ($3,200)

Idiscussed the Red Sox stack up top, but if there’s one bat from Boston I’d likein this matchup, it’s J.D. His .506 xwOBA vs. RHPs since 2018 (over a hugesample of 998 plate appearances) means he can hit all types of pitching (it’s apreposterous .560 vs. LHPs) and he’s still surrounded by Bogaerts andBenintendi, who both hit RHPs well. I’m banking on a three-run homer for the RedSox OF/DH in hitter-friendly Fenway against young Logan Webb (.400 xwOBA vs. RHP).

Oscar Mercado, CLE vs. DET

DK ($4,100) FD ($3,000)

Thehome numbers for Mercado are impressive (.290/.340/.477) and his bat has beenshowing some life again (10 hits in his last 26 AB). You’re getting thetalented young OF at a discount on both sites, and he’s a great piece to havein Indians mini stacks along with Lindor and Carlos Santana.

Garrett Hampson, COL vs. NYM

DK ($3,500) FD ($3,200)

Hampson is red-hot at the plate and is dirt cheap onDK. He’s played much better since getting more regular time, starting in theRockies’ last five straight and games and going 11-for-22 over that stretch(counting Monday night). He’s easy to overlook in the lineup as the No. 7 hitterand makes plenty of sense in both cash games and GPPs.

Additional options:

C:Roberto Perez ($3,600 DK, $2,900FD), Reese McGuire ($3,900 DK, $2,800 FD)

1B: Pete Alonso ($5,600 DK, $4,300 FD), Carlos Santana($4,300 DK, $3,900 FD)

2B: Robinson Cano ($4,700 DK, $3,600 FD), Jonathan Villar($4,700 DK, $3,800 FD)

3B: Vladimir Guerrero Jr, ($3,900 DK, $2,900 FD), EugenioSuarez ($4,500 DK, $3,900 FD)

SS: Bo Bichette ($5,400 DK, $3,900 FD), Xander Bogaerts ($5,000DK, 3,800 FD)

We’ve got DFS stacks, one-offs and some standout options for GPPs, including one squad that’s bound to break through against a veteran hurler with limited stuff. Let’s go win some green!

9/12 DFS Hitting Stacks of the Day

Atlanta Braves at Drew Smyly

I’m going GPP before cash here and picking on a pitcher with a 2.16% HR/FB rate in Drew Smyly. You can stack Coors all you want in the afternoon slates (what’s with the 2-1 games, fellas?), but I’m looking to a talented Braves lineup that’s loaded with powerful right-handed bats and some left-handed hitters like Freddie Freeman who don’t crumble when a southpaw is on the mound. Atlanta carries a .331 team wOBA against LHPs and Smyly is eminently hittable. The classic 1-5 stack is in play, as are platoon bats Austin Riley (.291/.375/.745 slash) and GPP favorite Adam Duvall (if he cracks the lineup).

LosAngeles Dodgers at Dylan Bundy

Yup, I’m going right back to the Dodgers despite an anemicperformance last night against John Means, who’s a pretty good pitcher in hisown right. Dylan Bundy is a lot easier to attack from both sides of the plate(.398 xwOBA vs. LHBs and .391 vs. RHBs), so I’m not concerned about keepinganybody off. Lefties Joc Pederson, Cody Bellinger and Matt Beaty are all duefor offensive breakouts and Gavin Lux ($2,600 on DK, $2,800 on FD) and CoreySeager ($4,500 on DK, $3,600 on FD) are plenty affordable as well.

Houston Astros vs. Homer Bailey

His name is Homer, and these are the power-hitting Astros. I’m not trying to oversimplify things, because there’s plenty of data to support a blitz on Bailey –including a park shift that favors Houston over the veteran right-hander. Bailey has yielded a .429 xOBA to righties since 2018 when pitching his home games in Oakland and Kansas City, and the Astros are at home and have bats from both sides of the plate that I want exposure to here, including George Springer, Jose Altuve, Michael Brantley, Alex Bregman and Yordan Alvarez. Value options include Aledmys Diaz and Abraham Toro, not to mention inexpensive catcher Robinson Chirinos.

9/12 DFS Hitting Stacks to Consider

Washington Nationals at Kyle Gibson

Boston Red Sox at Clay Buchholz

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Jhoulys Chacin

9/12 DFS Hitting Catcher

Francisco Cervelli, ATL at PHI

DK ($2,700) FD ($2,300)

This is a pure value play considering the Braves have so much talent throughout their lineup and Cervelli does a pretty good job (.414 xwOBA) vs. LHPs. He’s a cheap fifth batter in Braves stacks on DK and makes for an inexpensive utility or C-1B play on FD — if you can stomach rostering just three other bats from this team.

9/12 DFSHitting First Baseman

Mitch Moreland, BOS at TOR

DK ($4,000) FD ($2,800)

You’re getting a great matchup in the middle of a stacked lineup for cheap price with Moreland. Big Mitch has BvP covered in a 4-for-8 small sample against Buchholz, who’s he’s homered against, and there’s plenty to like about going with this sneaky lefty at your 1B spot in a crowded GPP field focused on bigger names. Moreland has double-dinger potential and makes for a fine one-off or part of a Sox mini-stack.

9/12 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Nick Solak, TEX vs. TB

DK ($4,100) FD ($3,300)

Going right back to the well with Solak, who’s made me look good in this spot, and doesn’t command a very high price. The Rangers are probably only worth considering for a contrarian, large-field GPP stack because they’ve struggled against lefties this season (just a .308 wOBA and 82wRC+), but Solak offers a .379 ISO against LHPs and the venue is ripe for hitting. I’m not scared of Brendan McKay, even though he’s been able to whiff some bats here and there, and Solak is in the heart of the Rangers lineup with plenty of run-producing opportunities.

9/12 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Josh Donaldson, ATL at PHI

DK ($5,200) FD ($3,500)

Donaldson is historically good against LHPs with a career xwOBA of .XXX and he’s destroyed Smyly in 19 career ABs, including nine hits, three HRs and a 1.629 OPS. Whatever sample size you’re looking at, he’s a great play in a hitter’s park in that potent Atlanta lineup. He and Acuna will be the main focus of my Braves stacks.

9/12 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Corey Seager, LAD at BAL

DK ($4,500) FD ($3,600)

Even after a recent two-homer night, the price on Seager isaffordable and the slick young shortstop has resumed the No. 2 slot in the Dodgersorder. I’ve mentioned my affinity for attacking Bundy in Camden Yards, and thisslate provides an opportunity to get one of the highest upside shortstops (rightthere with Xander Bogaerts) at a cut rate.

The Red Sox have been slumping at the plate, but Benintendi’s numbers over the past two seasons against RHBs (.405 xwOBA) make me excited to play him against Buchholz. There aren’t too many outfielders at this price point with as much run-producing upside.

Michael Brantley, HOU vs. OAK

DK ($4,300) FD ($4,000)

I have no qualms about you stacking the Astros outfield in its entirety and using both Alvarez and Springer, but if there’s one bat I’d lean towards as a one-off, especially if I’m building an expensive stack elsewhere, it’s Brantley. He’s always a little too cheap and offers plenty of upside with excellent numbers at home (.381 wOBA) and against RHPs (.207 ISO).

Ronald Acuna, Jr., ATL at PHI

DK ($5,500) FD ($4,100)

Acuna has a .488 xwOBA and .277 ISO vs. LHPs this season andremains the premier leadoff hitter in the NL. He’s an essential part of myBraves stacks, sometimes gets ignored because of his lofty price tag, and isplayable in both cash games and GPPs for his solid floor and soaring upside.

C: Robinson Chirinos ($3,800 DK), Reese McGuire ($3,300 DK)

1B: Jesus Aguilar ($2,800 FD), Matt Adams ($3,400 DK)

Here we are, it’s Labor Day. While most of you were still sleeping, I was sitting here spinning records, and poring over the 9/2 MLB DFS Pitching Picks. One of the things I love about having a Monday holiday is a bevy of MLB games to watch.

On this 9/2 MLB DFS slate we are starting a new format, besides giving you my top pitching picks to play, I will also be giving you some top pitching picks to attack. This all part of our continuing effort to bring you the highest quality analysis in the industry. So, without further delay, I bring you today’s top plays.

On theDefense

JakeOdorizzi vs. Detroit Tigers

$9,700 FD / $10,500 DK

The Detroit Tigers are a prime team to attack on any given day, and this 9/2 MLB DFS slate is no different. They are striking out 27.3 percent of the time (1^st in MLB) with a .292 wOBA versus RHPs this season. Meanwhile, Odorizzi has been steady mobbin’ to the tune of RHBs, hitting a whopping .187 off him this season. With the Tigers being extremely right-handed heavy, Jake not from State Farm should dominant this Little League lineup today.

NoahSyndergaard vs Washington Nationals

$9,000 FD / $10,000 DK

In GPP play on this 9/2 MLB DFS slate, even facing a teamthat mashes RHPs like the Nationals, I would seriously consider using Thor. Eventhough the Nats have ugly numbers versus opposing pitchers this season, they donot versus Syndergaard. Over three starts versus Washington this season Thorhas 18 strikeouts over 21 innings with eight earned runs, four of them comingin his first start back in late March. With Syndergaard having a road ERA of 3.49versus his 4.73 ERA at home, everything appears to be a go for him today.

MasahiroTanaka vs. Texas Rangers

$8,000 FD / $8,100 DK

Tanaka, much like Julio Teheran of years past, is much more dominant at home. So far this season he is posting a 3.26 home ERA as opposed to his 5.93 ERA on the road. The Rangers are striking out 24.2 percent of the time versus RHPs with a low wRC+ of 86, while batting a pathetic .202 over the last seven. Despite Masahiro’s ups and downs as of late, in his last start facing Seattle he sent seven to the dugout mad while pitching a seven-inning shutout. On this 9/2 MLB DFS slate Tanaka is one of my favorite plays for the price.

Joe Rossvs. New York Mets

$6.800 FD / $6,600 DK

For the record on this 9/2 MLB DFS slate I prefer this play a lot more on DK over FD. Although the price is still nice on FD, I think the value is better served in the SP2 slot on DK. The Mets can be very dangerous to attack in MLB DFS versus RHPs, they are in the middle of the pack striking out 20 percent of the time with a .319 wOBA. But Ross has looked too good as of late to pass up here. Over his last five starts spanning a little more than 25 innings, he has only allowed three earned runs while striking out 16 batters. My biggest concern is innings here, as he does have a few starts in that span where he failed to reach the five-inning mark.

On theAttack

Drew Smylyvs. Cincinnati Reds

For fantasy owners Drew Smyly has done anything but make you smile. Over his last five starts he has allowed 20 earned runs over his last 26 innings, making the Reds a prime stack on this 9/2 MLB DFS slate. Cincinnati has some powerful RHBs, and is posting a .328 wOBA versus LHPs, Smyly is in serious trouble today in the Great American Small Park.

Notable Bats

Aristides Aquino has a .578 wOBA and 261 wRC+ versusLHPs with four straight games without a HR.

Phillip Ervin has .488 wOBA and 202 wRC+ versus LHPswhile batting .333 with two home runs over the last seven days. He also hasfound his way into the three spot.

Eugenio Suarez has .423 wOBA and 160 wRC+ versus LHPs and has seven home runs over his last nine games. He did leave yesterday’s second game of the doubleheader with a hand injury so keep your eyes peeled here.

JordanZimmerman vs. Minnesota Twins

The McRib, Roller skates, and Sandy Koufax are three thingsthat all had to come to an end. Much like Jordan Zimmerman’s good starts as oflate. Although he has three starts in a row allowing two earned runs or less,the last time he faced Minnesota they bombed him for five runs over threeinnings sending the Zim home in dismay. I see serious regression here today andwill stack against this geriatric pitcher on this 9/2 MLB DFS slate facing a Twinsteam posting a .345 wOBA versus RHPs.

Notable Bats

Nelson Cruz is crushing everyone and RHPs are notdifferent. He is posting .411 wOBA and wRC+ of 158 versus RHPs this season.

Mitch Garver currently has a .396 wOBA versus RHPs with a wRC+ of 147. Over the last seven days he is also batting .455 with three home runs.

Luis Arraez, if he gets the start today, which I believe he will, has a .374 wOBA versus RHPs with a complimentary 133 wRC+. With bigger bats, and $4,000 price tag on DK, you can get him at a low ownership today for sure.

Mike Minorvs. New York Yankees

The New York Yankees hit home runs like I eat Beyond Burgers, pretty much every day. I know this, does Mike Minor? If not, he will soon enough. The Yankees are crushing lefties to the tune of .360 wOBA this season with a wRC+ of 121, both which are 4^th in MLB. The magic number is 55, remember that number on this 9/2 MLB DFS slate, it is how many dingers the Yanks have launched this season versus lefties. With Minor allowing 10 earned runs in his last 12 1/3 innings, I suspect the number will be much higher tomorrow. Keep in mind that Minor has reverse splits, so do not be afraid to go lefty on lefty here in GPPs.

Notable Bats

D.J. LeMahieu is posting .476 wOBA and 202 wRC+ versus LHPs this season. Despite the horrible BVP versus Minor I would still rank him at the top batting .400 with two home runs over the last seven days.

Aaron Judge has returned to pass judgement with his .470 wOBA versus LHPs. He is batting .375 with three home runs over the last seven days and I fully see him putting one out today.

Luke Voit has posted a .354 wOBA this season along with a wRC+ of 120 versus LHPs. I like the pricing for him on both sites today and will have a lot of exposure to him. If Mike Ford somehow draws the start, that will certainly be my pivot.

Monkey Knife Fight Prop Pick

With the Tigers striking out 27.2 percent of the time versus RHPs, and Odorizzi striking out six batters or more in four out of his last five starts the over here seems to easy.

Zimmerman more-than-likely will not see enough innings after the Twins bats get a hold of him today, so the under here is where I am looking.

I was excited to get you all some dingers from three out of my featured eight hitters for the 15-game Tuesday slate, but we’re aiming even higher for my second piece here at Win Daily Sports. Were building GPP stacks for the Thursday 8/29 DFS main slate, and we’ve only got six games on tap. While there’s an obvious game we want to use some hitters from, I’ll try to identify a few value plays so we can throw a potent stack or two in our GPP builds so your bankroll gets a boost.

8/29DFS Hitting Catcher

JorgeAlfaro, MIA vs. CIN

DK($3,800), FD ($2,800)

We can only hope that Alfaro’s day off on Wednesday hasn’t cooled off one of the hottest hitters in baseball over the past week. Not only is he in the midst of a five-game hitting streak, slashing .524/.424/1.000 with three homers and four RBI during that stretch, but he’s got an excellent matchup in his home park, where he sports a 117 RC+ and .339 wOBA. You can use whomever is catching for the Pirates (Elias Diaz $3,400 DK or Jacob Stallings $3,300 DK) for a few bucks cheaper, but Alfaro should still be low-owned and has solid upside in this 8/29 DFS spot.

8/29DFS Hitting First Baseman

JoshBell, PIT at COL

DK($5,400), FD ($4,300)

Bell’s price is steep, and I wouldn’t dare belittlethe benefit of Clay Bellinger (who’s also OF-eligible on DK) here, but theallure of Coors is what’s drawing me in – along with a .426 xwOBA againstright-handers. The eminently hittable Chi Chi Gonzalez is on the bump for theRockies, and while he’s had more success at home than on the road, it’s a smallenough sample that I feel a market correction and stackable situation buildingfor the Pirates mashers. There’s plenty of 1B/2B/OF combos available if you mixin Bell with the Dodgers bats, so explore them.

8/29DFS Hitting Second Baseman

StarlinCastro, MIA vs. CIN

DK($3,600), FD (3B – $2,400)

On Tuesday we scored bigwith Jason Kipnis in a pitcher’s park here, and I’m looking for hidden valueagain with Castro, a classic variance-positive hero whose price never seems toelevate despite his wide range of DFS outcomes. He had a hand in winning me aGPP and $20K in the past, and I usually fare well by using him at home facingleft-handers. With Alex Wood on the mound and our fearless veteran infielder checkingin with a .405 xwOBA against LHP the past two seasons, I feel comfortable notingan additional BvP tidbit: Castro is 5-for-10 career off Wood. He’s cheap onFanDuel too, but he’s a 3B on that site so you can look to Adam Frazier ($3,600FD) at 2B there.

8/29DFS Hitting Shortstop

TrevorStory, COL vs. PIT

DK($5,600), FD ($4,300)

Story is the top shortstop on the slate, much like Xander Bogaerts was the top SS on Tuesday (ding-dong!!). You can save a few bucks by taking Kevin Newman ($5,100 DK, $4,000 FD) but that seems counterproductive when there’s enough value elsewhere to use the best. Sure, Story is better facing southpaws, but he’s carrying a .446 xwOBA against righties and a .434 wOBA at home over the past two seasons. He’s facing a good contact manager in Trevor Williams (87.5 aEV), but a lot of that goes out the door in Coors, where sinkers and sliders go to die. If you absolutely, positively can’t fit him, Manny Machado (3B/SS $4,100 DK) makes for a bargain upside option.

8/29DFS Hitting Third Baseman

ColinMoran, PIT at COL

DK($4,800), FD ($3,700)

Moran’s aggressive approach could fare well in this hitting environment, and he’s not necessarily going to attract too much ownership with a slew of other priority plays in Pirates stacks. The .405 xwOBA vs. LHPs is an appealing metric, and while he doesn’t have the raw power of some of the other 3B on the slate, including counterpart Nolan Arenado (.309 home ISO), he’s likely to be batting fifth after Bell and looks like the finishing touch on a full 1-5 DK stack. Again, Machado is an option on DK and on FD, where he’s just $3,500.

8/29DFS Hitting Outfielder

JocPederson, LAD at ARI

DK($4,400), FD ($3,300)

Joc went deep a couple nights ago, and while I mentioned him as an option in my Jackie Bradley Jr. writeup, I didn’t dedicate a unique space for this inconsistent-but-exciting millennial masher. I love the matchup against Merrill Kelly (.413 xwOBA vs. LHBs), who’s shown marginal effectiveness but yields a lot of long balls. Pederson is leading off once again and that’s always nice on a team with an implied total over five runs.

8/29DFS Hitting Outfielder

Aristides Aquino, CIN at MIA

DK($5,000), FD ($4,100)

I know – I’m clicking onway too hitters for a game in a pitcher’s park. But there’s not a ballyard thatcan hold the meteoric Aquino (.426 xwOBA vs. RHP) and he’s facing righty RobertDugger, who go rocked in his only Major League appearance on Aug. 5 in CitiField. We’d prefer Aquino face a lefty (.668 xwOBA against southpaws in 19 AB),but he might do that in the later innings after the Reds dispatch Dugger. Thereare loads of cheaper hitting options in friendlier confines, but I’m low-keyliking this Reds team facing the doe-eyed Dugger.

8/29DFS Hitting Outfielder

J.D. Davis, NYM vs. CHC

DK ($4,200), FD ($2,900)

Davis is batting thirdand gets a left-hander in Jon Lester, and that’s ideal considering his .476xwOBA and .359 OBP against southpaws. He’s also got a .308 ISO at home thisseason and could be entering another hot patch (3-for-8, HR in his last twogames). He’ll save you some salary and makes for a fine one-off or part of amini-Mets stack that includes Pete Alonso ($5,200 DK, $4,100 FD) and MichaelConforto ($4,500 DK, $3,300 FD).

8/29DFS Hitting Stacks

8/29 DFS Hitting Stack of the Day: Pittsburgh Pirates: No surprise here. The trick will be finding the right combination of Newman, Starling Marte ($5,800 DK, $4,200 FD), Bryan Reynolds ($5,300 DK, $4,100 FD), Moran, Jose Osuna (1B/3B $5,000 DK, $3,200 FD), Adam Frazier ($4,800 DK, $3,600 FD) and the starting catcher.

8/29 DFS Hitting Stack Runner-Up: Colorado Rockies: It’s possible to fit in a nearly full game stack in Coors without compromising pitching if we take advantage of the SD-SF game, so I’m bullish on using as many hitters from this 14-run total as we can. Charlie Blackmon ($5.700 DK, $4,400 FD), Ryan McMahon ($4,700 DK, $3,500 FD), Story and Arenado ($5,700 DK, $4,700 FD) are my preferred four in a matchup against Williams and his 5.22 xFIP. If Williams scares you that much, you can lean more heavily toward Dodgers bats or take a gander at the group below.

8/29 DFS Hitting Stack to Consider: Cincinnati Reds: Despite the tasty matchup against a rookie hurler, I don’t expect too many Reds stacks. Let’s look at the projected top five hitters here, including Aquino, Josh VanMeter ($4,200 DK, $3,000 FD), Joey Votto ($3,900 DK, $2,800 FD), Eugenio Suarez ($4,500 DK, $4,000 FD) and Freddy Galvis (SS $4,100 DK, 2B $2,700 FD). Nick Senzel ($4,400 DK, $3,200 FD) could be sneaky as well, since he’s solid (.359 xwOBA) vs. RHP.

MLB DFS Batting and Stacks for 7/30

An almost full 14-game MLB DFS slate for the last Tuesday in July.

Catcher

We will be talking about this game more in the stacking section below but Coors Field looks like a prime place for MLB DFS bats tonight. Especially on the Dodgers side, as Kyle Freeland takes the hill for the Rockies. Freeland has been historically bad this season, with a WHIP of 1.58 and an ERA of 7.00 through 71 innings. Will Smith ($3,300 FD, $4,500 DK) not only gets the platoon split but also gets the advantage of not being well known by opposing pitching staffs.

First Base

Edwin Encarnacion, Diamondbacks at Yankees ($4,300 FD, $5,300 DK) has been hitting the ball very hard recently. I saw him hit a single off the Green Monster so hard Sunday night that he was almost thrown out at first base. Seriously though, this matchup against Taylor Clarke is a great one. Clarke has given up 11 HRs over his last seven starts.

Second Base

Ryan McMahon, Dodgers at Rockies ($3,400 FD, $4,800 DK): McMahon, not Story, Arenado or Blackmon, has been swinging the best Rockies bat since the All-Star Break. Wait a minute, lefty on lefty matchup against Julio Urias doesn’t scare you in MLB DFS? Simply put it does not. McMahon has five HRs in less than 100 official ABs vs lefties this year and has a .780 OPS. His OPS against righties you ask? A remarkably similar .780.

Shortstop:

Let’s go back to Coors Field for Corey Seager ($3,600 FD, $5,100 DK). Yes I know it is another lefty-lefty matchup but let me ask you: how long do you expect Freeland to be around? Take the discount, especially on FD, and be thankful you get such a quality bat at a discount at Coors.

Third Base:

Eugenio Suarez, Pirates at Reds ($3,600 FD, $5,200 DK): Another guy I had to keep scrolling down for to find on FD (that means he is a bargain!), Suarez has been hitting everyone since the All-Star Break. He is thriving at home, which is an extreme hitter’s environment, and against Joe Musgrove and the weak Pittsburgh bullpen, he must be salivating. You should be too, in MLB DFS.

Outfield:

J.D. Martinez, Rays at Red Sox ($4,300 FD, $4,600 DK), Cody Bellinger. Dodgers at Rockies ($4,900 FD, $5,900 DK) and Joc Pederson ($4,100 and first base??? on FD, $5,100 DK) are the three outfielders I am highlighting. J.D. is about as hot as any hitter in MLB DFS right now and the other two are at Coors on the wrong side of a platoon. However, I do not expect that to last long and they can hit Freeland anyway.

MLB DFS Stacks

Dodgers: At Coors against the worst pitcher on the slate? What can go wrong?
Angels: Didn’t highlight any batters here but I certainly could have. Someone named Drew VerHagen gets to toss baseballs to them. And then is followed by a bad Tigesr bullpen.
Yankees: Always in play. Tonight they get Taylor Clarke.

Top Stacks

Tampa Bay Rays:

The Baltimore Orioles’ pitching staff is a mess. They own a league-high 5.78 ERA, while also allowing a league-high 172 home runs. And now the pitching staff is coming off a doubleheader on Saturday, so you know it’s going to be ugly today. The Rays, who have scored double-digit runs in two of three already this weekend from Baltimore, are in a great spot to capitalize again today as well as carry your DFS lineups into the green.

Kansas City Royals:

The Tigers’ Jordan Zimmerman will face the Royals on Sunday. Zimmerman owns a 5.34 SIERA and a 5.43 xFIP on the season so he should be no match for the Royals’ offense. The Royals could be a sneaky play on Sunday for your DFS lineups.

Milwaukee Brewers:

The Giants’ Tyler Beede has struggled in 2019. He has a 5.37 SIERA and a 5.24 xFIP this season. The San Francisco pitcher also is allowing a 41.8% hard contact rate and 1.61 HR/9. The Brewers have five regulars in their lineup that have greater than a .200 ISO versus righties. Milwaukee should have no problem putting up runs in this one and helping you win some cash in DFS.

Houston Astros:

The Astros’ offense has come alive in this series against Texas and we should expect more of the same on Sunday. The Rangers’ Ariel Jurado has a 4.73 SIERA and is allowing a 43.5% hard contact rate. Houston’s everyday lineup consists of five players with ISOs over .200 so look for another big day from the Astros’ lineup in this one. Be sure you get an Astros’ stack or two in your DFS lineups.

Los Angeles Angels:

The Angels’ offense has come out blazing here in the second half. And there is no reason to believe that stops today as they face Seattle’s Yusei Kikuchi. The White Sox’s Reynaldo Lopez is a target for DFS stacking anytime he takes the bump. He has a 5.12 SIERA and is allowing flyballs at a 47.1% clip. The high amount of flyballs has led to him allowing 2.11 HR/9.

Any time Las Vegas pins a 14 on a game total you are going to want some action from that game in your DFS lineup. This one is no different. Target as many Rockies and Reds in your entries as possible.

DFS Hitting and MLB Prop Picks from the King for July 2

Joe Musgrove looked better in June and his road numbers reflecta more positive DFS outlook. But he is always prone to a blowup start and couldbe in some danger at Wrigley Field tonight. I would opt for Anthony Rizzo at$4700 on DraftKings and Kyle Schwarber at $4100. Victor Carantini is just $3700if he is in the lineup. Kris Bryant is worth the $4800, as he is hitting .333with two homers and five RBI over the past week. Jayson Heyward (4800) ishitting .304 with three homers and 10 RBI in the past week. I will considerseveral Cubs as DFS GPP plays.

Trent Thornton held down the Red Sox on June 21 in Fenwaybut I do not believe he will do so again at home, seeing Boston again in such ashort time span. Rafael Devers ($4,900) is hitting .556 over the past week andJ.D. Martinez ($4600) is at .529 with two homers and five RBI in that span.Jackie Bradley Jr. is at just $3600 and is hitting .500 over the past week andXander Bogaerts ($4800) is at .357 with two homers and six RBI. Brock Holt is at $3700 if he is in the lineup.

The Rays will be facing Asher Wojciechwoski, who has not appeared in an MLB game since 2017. He has a 6.64 career MLB ERA. Tampa Bay offers some friendly priced DFS options. Willy Adames ($3900) is hitting .308 with three homers and five RBI over the past week. As noted in our Winners and Losers column today, Kevin Kiermaier ($3700) may be starting to heat up as well. Ji-Man Choi is just $3600 and Brandon Lowe is at $4200 for the lefty/righty split. Yandy Diaz ($4400) is always worth consideration when the Rays are in a spot to fare well.

Zack Wheeler allowed six homers in five June starts with apair of two-HR games, so you should expect him to surrender at least twolongballs against the Yankees. Aaron Judge (4,300) , D.J. LeMahieu ($5300) andDidi Gregorius ($3600) have all homered twice in the past week. Judge andGregorious give you nice DFS exposure to a powerful lineup against an erraticstarter. Their prices are friendly after recent long injury layoffs.

Chase Anderson’s first name is fitting because that whatopposing hitters seem to do to him often this year. He only has lasted past 5.1IP once. The Reds hammered him for six runs on June 21 and should “chase” Andersonagain to your DFS delight. Joey Votto is at just $4100 and is hitting .364 overthe past week. Eugenio Suarez is at a nifty $4200 and is hitting .364 withthree HRs and seven RBI over the past week. Jesse Winker gives you a lefty/rightysplit at $4000, and so does Scooter Gennett at $3900.

Jose Suarez had a 5.57 ERA in four starts earlier this yearand now returns from the minors to face the Rangers. Joey Gallo ($5,500) is ishitting .328 with seven homers and 28 RBI vs. LHPs this year, and Elvis Andrus ($4,600)is at .317 with 12 RBI and 13 runs scored. Both hitters are worth spending upfor in DFS tonight.

The Houston/Colorado game is very stackable in DFS tonight from both sides, as German Marquez is way more hittable at home. Houston prospect Jose Urquidy has pitched pretty well in the minors this season, so I lean to the Astros bats in this one. Yuli Gurriel ($4,100) is hitting .350 over the past week and Alex Bregman ($5,000) has hit .348 over that span, as has Josh Reddick ($4,200). You will have to check on the status of Gurriel, though, as an ankle issue caused him to miss Sunday’s game.

Cleveland stacks will also be popular against Jakob Junis.Jason Kipnis ($3600) and Bobby Bradley ($3300) are some DFS salary saversthere.

Minnesota bats will certainly get consideration againstDaniel Mengden, but the park factor may make it better to steer in some otherdirections tonight when the schedule is so full. Nelson Cruz ($4,900) ishitting .435 with three home runs and 10 RBI over the past week.

Dodgers bats will get DFS play against Taylor Clarke, too,as he saw them just a week ago. Cody Bellinger ($5,700) homered against him andAlex Verdugo is a very good play at $4400.

The Padres have been hot and should tear up Tyler Beede.Spend in DFS for Manny Machado at $5200. Eric Hosmer ($4,600) is at .481 withnine RBI over the past week. If Greg Garcia ($4,300) is in the lineup, he hashit .308 over the past week.

Let’s have some Subway Series fun here. In my DFS hitting outlook for the Yankees above, I indicated that Zack Wheeler could give up at least two homers. So he may not last long enough to go over 6.5 strikeouts. I will take the under. Wheeler lasted 4.2 innings last time he faced the Yanks and finished at six Ks. Paxton had his worst start of the year against the Mets last month, lasting only 2.2 innings with one strikeout. I’ll take the under on both in another high scoring Subway Series affair.
