Welcome to this week’s edition of the Saturday Slapshot.   We’re getting close to the point of the season where teams will start jockeying for playoff position. We have a clear upper echelon of teams, a bottom tier, and then a bunch of in the middle. Tonight’s 7-game slate of NHL DFS gives us teams in all three categories. Buckle up, it’s gonna be a fun ride tonight.

Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money.

NHL DFS Goaltending

Matt Murray vs. Carolina – I don’t mind Matt Murray here one bit. Yes, the Hurricanes can have a dynamic offense at times. However, they haven’t shown it over the last couple of weeks. In their last 8 games, the Hurricanes have scored just 17 goals for an average of just a smidge over 2. This is a team that we can attack with a goalie right now and I plan on doing so with one that will cost us just $7.5k on DK tonight. He’s risky, but the price makes it appealing.

Darcy Kuemper vs. Pittsburgh – Another cheap goalie vs. another team struggling to put the puck in the back of the net. I’m a bit more risk-averse with my goalies these days and this is another example of that. The Penguins have scored less than 3 goals per game over the last couple of weeks, and I don’t think that changes much tonight. While they have some star power, they’re also all mostly struggling. This is a spot that Kuemper can succeed in tonight.

NHL DFS Stacks

Edmonton 1 (McDavid, Kane, Hyman) + Nurse vs. Vegas

The surface numbers aren’t that bad for Vegas right now. Over the last couple of weeks, they’ve given up just 2.88 goals per game. Not bad! However, if you dig a bit deeper you can see their goaltending has been keeping them afloat. Vegas is giving up nearly 16 high-danger chances per game and over 34 shots on goal per game over that stretch. Against an offense like Edmonton, that many high-danger chances and that many shots on goal are asking for trouble.

I’m going to attack Vegas tonight with the best hockey player on this planet, and that’s Connor McDavid. McDavid has 5 goals and 6 assists over his last 5 games. He’s having by far the best season of his career, and that’s saying a lot. I have a slight preference to pair him with Kane over Hyman as Kane is $500 cheaper on DK tonight. That savings, while not high, will come in handy when paying all the way up for McDavid.

Dropping down to line 2 is also in play. Draisaitl is also playing some unreal hockey right now with 12 points in his last 5 games. You can pair him with a very cheap Yamamoto. Yamamoto has 10 high-danger chances over his last 5 and we know that Vegas gives up a ton of those.

Dallas 3 (Johnston, Benn, Dadonov) + Heiskanen vs. Vancouver

Vancouver has been playing better of late, giving up just 2.29 goals over the last couple of weeks. That said, they’re going to have their hands full tonight vs. a very good Dallas Stars team. The Stars’ offense is rolling right now, scoring nearly 4.5 goals per game over their 8. They should be able to get to the Canucks tonight.

I’m going to drop down to the Stars’ third line tonight so save a little bit of cash. This line has been playing very well. Over their last 5, Benn and Johnston have combined for 7 goals and 12 total points. They should continue to play well in this matchup. We’ve seen the Canucks give up a ton of goals at points this season, tonight seems like a perfect time for it to happen again.

Columbus 2 (Roslovic, Johnson, Foudy) + Boqvist vs. Montreal

If you want to play both McDavid and Draisaitl together tonight, this line may your best bet to make it work. The Blue Jackets take on the Canadiens in a battle of 2 very awful teams. This game has the makings of a 7-6 game as neither team knows how to play defense and both teams have goaltenders that just aren’t very good.

This line is far from safe, but again, I want a piece of this game and this is a cheap way to get it. Roslovic has averaged close to a point per game over his last 5 games and is just $3.6k on DK. Johnson has 4 points in his last 5 and is even cheaper at $3.1k. If these guys can both get a couple of points while enabling us to fit the Oilers’ stars, we could be looking at a takedown tonight.

Other Stacks: Dal 1, Mtl 1 and 2, Columbus 1, NJ 1 and 2, Ott 1, Was 1, Stl 2

NHL DFS Top Value Defenseman

  • Travis Hamonic – $3.8k on DK
  • Mattias Ekholm – $3.7k on Dk
  • Marco Scandella– $2.5k on DK
  • Robert Bortuzzo – $2.5k on DK

Summary

We have a fun day of NHL DFS in store. I plan on loading up on Oilers tonight and going out from there. While I didn’t name them in my top stacks, St. Louis is in a marvelous position tonight.

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Saturday Slapshot.   After just 2 games on the schedule last night, we have a massive 11-game slate of NHL DFS tonight. As we are getting closer to the end of the season, we a clear divide between teams still in it and teams shooting for last. We also have some really glaring opportunities for offense tonight.

Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money.

NHL DFS Goaltending

Ilya Sorokin vs. Washington – The Islanders are rolling right now, with a 4-1-1 record in their last 6. Goaltending has been a big part of that as they’re giving up just 1.67 goals per game over that stretch. Their goalies have a 94% saver percentage. Sorokin is riding a modest 3-game winning streak and should be able to add to that vs. an average Capitals team.

Filip Gustavsson vs. San Jose – This is a great spot for Gustavsson and the Wild tonight. The Sharks are just 1-5-1 in their last 7 and have scored a total of 15 goals over that stretch. Their offense is awful these days without Timo Meier and have limited weapons. Gustavsson is also coming into this one playing well. He’s been above 24 DK points in 3 straight. There

NHL DFS Stacks

New Jersey 1 (Hischier, Tatar, Mercer) + Hamilton vs. Montreal

Although they haven’t been awful recently, picking on Montreal this season has often been a profitable strategy. Tonight will be no different. They’re still one of the poorer defensive teams of those playing tonight as they’re giving up close to 13 high-danger chances per game over the last couple of weeks.

We’ll pick on them with the top line of the Devils. Dawson Mercer continues to be the stud of this offense. Over his last 5 games, Mercer has 3 goals and 6 assists for a team-leading 9 points. His 9 points lead the team over that stretch. I’ll look to pair him with Tatar and Hischier. Of the two, right now my lean is to prioritize Hischier as he has a little more goal potential than Tatar. That said, this line is in a great spot and I wouldn’t talk you off a full stack.

Dallas 1 (Hintz, Robertson, Pavelski) + Heiskanen vs. Seattle

Don’t look now, but it appears that the Stars have finally taken the car off of cruise control and are going full throttle. Over their last 3 games, they’ve scored 10 in one and 7 in another. They are firing on all cylinders right now and we’ll want to ride that wave as long as we can. The matchup for them tonight isn’t all that bad either as the Kraken are giving up more than 3 goals per game over the last couple of weeks.

This top line for Dallas has combined for 25 points in their last 5 games. Leading the way on the goal-scoring front has been Hintz as he has 6 goals over his last 5 games. He’s a very affordable $6.4k on DK tonight. Next up will be Robertson. While he only has 3 goals in his last 5, he does have 7 assists. He’s expensive, but he’s playing extremely well tonight and this line should do really well tonight. Both of those are my priority in this stack tonight.

St. Louis 2 (Buchnevic, Vrana, Kapenen) + Faulk vs. Columbus

Michael Hutchison is projected to be between the pipes tonight and that should be music to our ears. He’s an average at best goaltender playing for a defensively challenged team. What could go wrong? No team on tonight’s slate gives up more high-danger chances per game than the Blue Jackets. They’re giving up close to 17 per game! That’s a massive number.

My priority with this stack is going to be former Rangers player, Pavel Buchnevic. Over his last 5 games, Buch has 3 goals and 8 assists. With how bad this Blue Jackets team is defensively, he should be able to set up more goals tonight. I’ll look to do a mini-stack with him and Kapenen tonight. Kapanen has just 2 goals in his last 5, but this is a matchup where he could excel in. He’s also just $3.2k, allowing us to spend up in other areas.

Other Stacks: Car 1 and 2, Stl 1, Fla 1 and 2, NJ 2, TB 1 and 2, Tor 1, Edm 1, Ott 1, LA 1 and 2

NHL DFS Top Value Defenseman

  • Sebastion Aho – $2.7k on DK
  • Alexander Romanov – $3k on Dk
  • Nick Holden – $2.5k on DK
  • Trevor Van Riemsdyk – $3.2k on DK

Summary

We have a fun day of NHL DFS in store. A handful of the games tonight are extreme mismatches. Really like the spots for Dallas, Jersey, and St. Louis tonight. The Kings are also a team that could explode tonight.

Make sure to use our Projection model when setting lineups.

Welcome to Wednesday’s edition of Between the Benches.   On this final day before the NBA makes its return, the NHL has blessed us with just 3 games on its calendar. Not ideal for NHL DFS, but it is what it is and we do have some solid games to work with.

Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money.

NHL DFS Goaltending

Jaxson Stauber ($6.9K DK/$7k FD) vs. Dallas Stars – Risk it or biscuit right? That’s my mentality on a short slate and tonight is no different. Coming into this game, the Stars’ offense has been nonexistent. Over their last 5 games, the Stars have scored just 9 goals for an average of less than 2 per game. That’s just not good. Stauber has so far looked competent in the NHL. He’s 4-1 with a 2.76 GAA. He’s risky, but for his price, I really like him tonight.

Karel Vejmelka ($7.2k DK/$7.2k FD) vs. Calgary Flames– Sticking with the risky theme, I’ll look to Vejmelka also tonight. I suspect that the Flames will be popular tonight and I’ll want to go against the grain. Arizona gives up a ton of shots, so even if Vejmelka gives up a couple of goals, he’ll still end up making value. He struggled against the Kings the other night, but look for him to rebound tonight.

NHL DFS Stacks

Chicago 1 (Kane, Domi, Kurashev) + McCabe vs. Dallas

As we inch closer to the trade deadline, we’ll obviously want to monitor Patrick Kane’s status. He’s at risk of being traded at any moment and could be scratched tonight for that reason. That said, if Kane plays tonight he’ll be in my lineup. He’s more than likely down to his last few games as a Blackhawk and he’s trying his hardest to up his value.

Over his last 3 games, Kane has been the Kane of old. He’s registered 15 shots, 5 goals, and 2 assists. He just missed goal number 6 last night by about a tenth of a second. This line has really gelled of late and I’ll look to pair Kane with Max Domi. Over his last 5 games, Domi has 7 assists and a goal for 8 points. He’s averaging close to 2 points per game over that stretch and is just $4.3k on DK tonight. He should easily make value if he continues to play like he’s playing.

Dallas 1 (Hintz, Robertson, Pavelski) + Heiskanen vs. Chicago

I know I recommended Stauber tonight, but if you are fading him you should consider the top line for Dallas. Have the Stars been struggling to score goals? Yes, they have. Has this top line also been struggling? Yes, they have. This line has too much talent to continue their struggles and the Chicago Blackhawks just aren’t a good team. They’ve given up 3.38 goals per game over the last 2 weeks and close to 15 high-danger chances per game. This is a great bounce back spot for the Stars’ offense.

My priority here will be Hintz and Robertson. Pavelski is also in play, but he lacks the goal upside that Robertson and Hintz have. That said, a full stack here is definitely in play.

Arizona 1 (Hayton, Keller, Schmaltz) + Nemeth vs. Calgary

This is more of a testament to how the Coyotes have been playing than it is about the Flames. Only the Islanders have scored more goals per game over the last 2 weeks than the Coyotes, of the teams playing tonight of course. I have little interest in the Islanders tonight as Hellebuyck is a tough goalie to crack. So that leaves us with the Coyotes

This top line has been playing very well together. They’ve scored a combined 8 goals over their last 5 games and have a combined 17 points. My priority with this stack will be Keller and Schmaltz. They’ve combined for 7 of the 8 goals scored. I suspect this line may be more popular than they normally would be, but it’s a small slate and we have limited options tonight. They’ll be in my lineup.

Other Stacks: Wpg 1 and 2, Dal 3, Calgary 1, 2, or 3

NHL DFS Top Value Defenseman

  • Dylan DeMelo – $3.2k on DK
  • Jani Hakanpaa– $3k on Dk

Summary

We have just a 3-game slate tonight and have limited options. Tonight’s a night to get “weird” as they like to say. A complete game stack of that Dal/Chi game is 100% in play.

Make sure to use our Projection model when setting lineups.

Welcome to Thursday’s edition of Between the Benches.   Unlike last night, we have a massive slate on our hands tonight. We have 20 teams in action, giving us plenty of options for our NHL DSF lineups. There are also some really glaring mismatches tonight.

Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money.

NHL DFS Goaltending

Igor Shesterkin ($8.3K DK/$8.3k FD) vs. Montreal Canadiens – This is probably the mismatch of the night. We have a surging New York Rangers team facing off against a Canadiens team that is 0-5-1 in their last 6. The Canadiens are scoring less than 2 goals per game over that stretch. Shesterkin does have a little bit of a limited ceiling tonight because the Canadiens don’t take too many shots on net, less than 27 per game. That said, we have shutout potential for the reigning Vezina trophy winner. Shesterkin is playable in all formats tonight, but more so in Cash.

Darcy Kuemper ($8.1k DK/$7.8 FD) vs. Columbus Blue Jackets– Darcy Kuemper is another goalie that gets a lopsided matchup tonight. The Capitals are 4-0-2 in their last 6 while the Blue Jackets are just 1-3 in their last 4. Over those 4 games, they’re scoring just 1.75 goals per game. Kuemper is coming off 2 shaky games, but those games were against the Sabres and Senators. One of the best offenses in the league and the other is an above-average offense. He gets a much easier task tonight and should do well in it.

NHL DFS Stacks

New York Rangers 1 (Zibanejad, Kakko, Kreider) + Fox vs. Montreal

I said it with my goalie selection, but the Rangers get just a phenomenal matchup tonight on both ends of the ice. With how bad their offense has been, their defense has been even worse. Over the last 2 weeks they’re giving up over 5 goals per game, over 17 high-danger chances per game, and close to 38 shots on goal per game. They are an absolute mess.

I’m going to target the Rangers’ top line tonight. The 2 I’m mostly focused on in this line are going to be Mika Zibanejad and Kaapo Kakko. Zibanejad is the Rangers’ main goal-scoring threat. Over his last 5, he has 4 to go along with 2 assists. Since Kakko has been moved to the top line, he’s been a completely different player. He’s finally playing with the skills that made him the second-overall pick in the 2019 draft. Kreider is also very much in play here as well. The Rangers have a chance to put up a huge number tonight.

Washington 1 (Strome, Sheary, Ovechkin) + Gustafsson vs. Columbus

Another mismatch on paper will be the Capitals vs. Columbus tonight. The Capitals are rolling right now. They’re 4-0-2 in their last 6 and are scoring at will. Over those 6 games, they’re averaging 4.5 goals per game. We’ll want to ride this hot offense until they slow down.

As usual, their offense is led by Ovechkin. He’s on fire right now, with 8 goals in his last 5 games. He’s taking his pursuit of Gretzky extremely seriously and is on pace to catch him in a couple of seasons. I’ll look to pair him with Connor Sheary tonight. Sheary has been an assist machine, with 7 in his last 5 games. His $4.3k salary on DK also helps to counteract Ovechkin’s $9k salary.

Vegas 2 (Eichel, Smith, Roy) + McNabb vs. Pittsburgh

The Penguins are struggling right now, big time (sorry Vecchio 🙂 ). They’re winless in their last 5 games and over those 5 games have really struggled on the defensive side of things. They’re giving up close to 17 high-danger chances and over 36 shots on goal. Until they right the ship, they are someone that we’ll want to attack. And we’ll attack them with a team that gets their star player back today.

Vegas gets Jack Eichel back today and he instantly gives their offense a huge shot in the arm. He’s missed the last 11 games but rust shouldn’t be too much of a concern for someone with his elite talent. I’ll look to pair him with Smith tonight. Although Smith has been really quiet of late, he’s been getting a healthy amount of scoring chances. His 17 are second on the team over the last 5 games. With Eichel by his side tonight, he’s ready to explode. Let’s make sure he’s in our lineups when he does.

Other Stacks: Tor 1 and 2, NYR 2, NJ 1 and 2, Phi 1, Car 1, Edm 1, Bos 1

NHL DFS Top Value Defenseman

  • T.J. Brodie – $3.1k on DK
  • Samuel Girard – $3.1k on Dk
  • Mattias Ekholm – $3.3k on DK

Summary

We have ourselves a massive 10-game slate of NHL DFS tonight. It’s shaping up to be an extremely fun one and expect it to be high-scoring. I may sound like a homer, but I’ll be all over the Rangers tonight in just a great matchup for them.

Make sure to use our Projection model when setting lineups.

Good luck and hope to see you in the green!

Welcome to Wednesday’s edition of Between the Benches.   Thanks to a massive slate last night, we’re stuck with just a 3-game slate of NHL DFS tonight. It’s a small slate, but we have some mighty teams playing and it should be a fun one.

Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money.

NHL DFS Goaltending

Scott Wedgewood ($8.3K DK/$8.1k FD) vs. Anaheim Ducks – With Oettinger playing last night, we should get to see Scott Wedgewood between the pipes tonight for Dallas. Against any other team Wedgewood wouldn’t be under consideration, but he gets to take on an anemic Anaheim offense. Over their last 6 games, the Ducks have scored just 8 goals. That’s an average of just over 1 per game. That’s downright awful.

Wedgewood has been competent in games he’s played this season. He’s sporting a GAA just over 3 and a save % of .910. Both numbers would rank as career bests. He has limited upside tonight because the Ducks don’t take too many shots. That said, he does appear to have a decent floor so if you want to play it safe, he’s your guy tonight.

John Gibson ($7.1k DK/$7 FD) vs. Dallas Stars– If you want to get fancy tonight and you have a high-risk tolerance, John Gibson is your guy tonight. The Dallas Stars are in a phenomenal spot tonight. With being in such a great spot, they’re also going to be uber-popular tonight. It’s just a 3-game slate tonight and this spot could really differentiate you tonight. Should a miracle happen and Gibson stops the Stars, you’ll be ahead of the curve. This is strictly a strategic play to counteract the popularity of the Stars tonight. Gibson will also face a ton of volume so even if he gives up a few goals, he’ll still get you points.

Filip Gustavsson at $7.8k on DK is also in play. He’s been really solid this season in limited play. Tough matchup vs. Tampa, but Tampa played last night and could be tired.

NHL DFS Stacks

Dallas 1 (Hintz, Robertson, Pavelski) + Heiskanen vs. Anaheim

This line is going to be extremely popular tonight. The Ducks are just an awful team that does not know how to play defense. Over the last 2 weeks, the Ducks are giving up close to 4 goals per game and well over 40 shots on goal. They are also giving up close to 18 high-danger chances per game. There’s no beating around the bush. They are bad.

We’ll target that atrociousness with the top line for Dallas. All 3 guys from this line are in play tonight. Combined, they have 21 points over their last 5 games. Hintz has been leading the way on the goal-scoring front with 5 of them. Both Robertson and Pavelski have 5 assists over the last 5 games. There have been few better spots for a line this season than this one. The only reason to fade them tonight is to be different and hope they fail. The odds of that happening are slim though in this spot.

New Jersey 1 (Bratt, Tatar, Hischier) + Hamilton vs. Detroit

Another team in a great spot tonight is New Jersey. The Red Wings are giving up 4 goals per game over the last 2 weeks. Their goaltending has just not been good as they have a combined save % of just 87.4%. That’s far lower than any other team on tonight’s slate. In the net for Detroit tonight should be Ville Husso. He’s really struggled of late as he’s given up at least 4 goals in 4 straight games. Against a solid Devils offense, that streak should continue tonight.

While Jack Hughes is the premier player on this team, I’m going to target to the top line tonight and not his line. This line has been playing really well recently. Led by Bratt’s 4 goals, this line has combined to score 9 goals and 17 points over their last 5. They’re all also extremely affordable tonight with Hischier being the most expensive at $5.9k on DK. If you want to go full power play here, you can certainly add in Hughes as he’ll correlate with all 3. Detroit has been middle of the pact on the penalty kill.

Detroit 1 (Larkin, Perron, Rasmussen) + Walman vs. New Jersey

I don’t mind a full-game stack here. The Devils massive hot streak is a distant memory. Over the last 2 weeks, they’re just 2-3-1 and are giving up more goals than they’re scoring. They’re giving up more than 3 goals per game over that stretch.

With the Red Wings, although they’ve been defensively challenged, their offense has been superb. No team playing tonight has scored more goals per game over the last 2 weeks than Detroit. This has been led by their top line. Combined, they’ve scored 9 of the teams’ 19 goals. So nearly half. All 3 of these guys are fairly priced, with Rasmussen providing value at $4k. Defensman Jake Walman is a must play in my opinion. While his price has started to increase, it’s still nowhere near his level of productivity. Over his last 5 games, he has 18 blocked shots! He’s also putting the puck on net with 13 shots. Play him while he’s affordable, you’ll be happy with the results.

Other Stacks: TB 1 and 2, Min 1, NJ 2, Dal 2

NHL DFS Top Value Defenseman

  • Brendan Smith – $2.6k on DK
  • Jake Middleton – $3.1k on Dk
  • Jani Hakanpaa – $2.8k on DK

Summary

This is a small, but fun looking slate. Dallas will be the uber chalk. Fading them will be tough, but if you do and they faulter, you’ll be at the top of the leaderboards. A full game stack of that Jersey/Detroit game is very much in play.

Welcome to New Year’s Eve edition of the Saturday Slapshot.   On this final day of the year, we have a total of 12 games on tap. However, many of the games are spread throughout the day. I’ll be focusing on the 5-game slate of NHL DFS that kicks off at 7pm EST.

Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money.

NHL DFS Goaltending

Jake Oettinger ($8.4K DK/$8.2k FD) vs. San Jose Sharks – If you’re looking to pay up for a goalie tonight, Jake Oettinger should be on your radar. He’s in arguably the best matchup of any of the expensive goalies tonight and also the most talented. He’ll be facing off against a Sharks team that has been scoring less than 3 goals per game over the last 2 weeks.

Oettinger has been having a solid season, with a career-high .920 save % and a nearly career-low 2.38 GAA. Dallas doesn’t give up too many shots, so with Oettinger, we have a limited ceiling and a high floor. Oettinger would be the ideal choice for your Cash game lineups.

Ilya Samsonov ($7.8k DK/$6.5k FD) vs. Colorado Avalanche– This pick is somewhat predicated on Nathan MacKinnon still being out. There is a chance that he plays though and if he does, pivoting may make sense. That said, this is a solid spot for Samsonov tonight. The Avalanche offense has not been powerful recently, scoring just 2.5 goals per game over the last 2 weeks.

Samsonov’s price on FD tonight is criminal. He shouldn’t be that low and makes for a great GPP play, even if MacKinnon plays. We won’t need too much for him to return value on that site and even a goal or 2 won’t hinder his value. I still may run out Samsonov on DK even if Mac plays because that will just mean more volume, and more volume equals the chance for more DK points.

NHL DFS Stacks

Ottawa 2 (Pinto, DeBrincat, Batherson) + Hamonic vs. Detroit

Vegas has Detroit as slight favorites in this one, but I’ll be honest, I think Ottawa dominates in this one. Detroit has been challenged defensively all year and it hasn’t been much better of late. Over the last 2 weeks, they’ve given up on average 4.8 goals per game. Detroit will also more than likely have Alex Nedeljkovic in net. He’s given up at least 4 goals in each of his last 3 starts. He’s not a good goalie and one that anytime he’s in net, we want to pick skaters against him. Think Jake Arrieta or Dallas Keuchel type bad.

Both of the top lines for Ottawa are in play tonight, but I have a slight preference for their second line. Alex DeBrincat leads the team in goals over the last 5 games with 4 of them and that’s what I’m looking to chase. I’ll look to pair him with Batherson who leads the Sens in points over the last 5 games with 6. These 2 have been leading the offense for Ottawa and my hope is that it continues tonight in a favorable matchup. If you want to go full stack, Pinto is in play, but as of right now my lean is locking in DeBrincat and Batherson.

Dallas 1 (Hintz, Robertson, Pavelski) + Heiskanen vs. San Jose

Another team that’s been challenged defensively recently is the Sharks. Over the last 2 weeks, they’re giving up slightly more than 4.3 goals per game. Goaltending has mostly been their issue as their goalies have a save % of just 85.71% over that stretch. In the net for San Jose tonight should be James Reimer. Reimer has given up 6 goals in 2 of his last 3 games. That’s bad, no other way to put it.

We’re going to attack San Jose tonight with the top line for Dallas. I’m going to be mostly focused on Hintz and Robertson here. They’re the core of not only this line but this team. Over the last 5 games, they’ve combined for 12 points. Hintz being the goal scorer and Robertson being the playmaker. You can go certainly go full stack here with Pavelski, but I don’t think he’s needed. Roll out Hintz and Robertson with confidence tonight.

Calgary 1 (Lindholm, Dube, Toffoli) + Hanifin vs. Vancouver

This top line for Calgary tonight is very affordable and in a great spot. The Canucks just aren’t a good team. Over the last 2 weeks, they’re giving up close to 4 goals per game and nearly 14 high-danger chances per game.

The 2 guys that I’m mostly focused on here are going to be Tyler Toffoli and Elias Lindholm. Toffoli leads the team in goals over the last 5 games with 4. He’s also added in a pair of assists to give him 6 points over the last 5 to lead the team in points. Lindholm has had 5 assists in his last 5 to lead the team in assists. This line tonight has some really high upside, especially Toffoli and Lindholm. Dube can be added in to bring the cost of the line down as he’s just $4k on DK tonight. Just know there’s little upside with him.

Other Stacks: Ottawa 1, Calgary 2, Tor 1 and 2, Col 1(only if MacKinnon plays), Edm 1(McDavid is on an epic run right now and you can certainly play him as a 1-off)

NHL DFS Top Value Defenseman

  • Jake Walman – $3.4k on DK – He’s been a blocked shot machine recently.
  • Tyler Meyers – $2.7k on Dk
  • Brett Kulak – $2.6k on DK – 11 blocks in his last 3.

Summary

Hope everyone reading this today has a safe and Happy New Year! Let’s make smart decisions with both our NHL DFS lineups and when going out tonight.

NHL Betting Picks Sunday 3/21

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Sunday 3/21. The Model took the night off to watch college basketball because March. I did sprinkle Leafs -1 which covered. Jack Campbell needs to get a run as he has played well enough to earn that #1 spot for the time being.

We have 4 games on the slate today. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Penguins Money Line (-225) over the Devils
  • Lightning Puck Line (-1.5, +180) over the Panthers
  • Golden Knights Money Line (-165) over the Kings
  • Predators Money Line (+160) over the Stars
  • Stars/Predators Under Goals (5.5, -120)

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight.

My Picks

Devils +1.5 (-141): The hope is the Devils go with one of the Wood’s in net (Blackwood or Wedgewood) instead of Dell. The Devils are + units on the puck line as a dog and on the road, and the Penguins are – units as a favorite. The Penguins have a lot of injuries and the Devils have played the Penguins close in their last 2 matchups, and we like a Devils cover here.

Predators/Stars Under 5.5 (-120): Neither of these teams score at a high rate and the Stars defend pretty well too. The over is actually 2-1 so far in their 3 matchups this season but I think there will be a regression today. The Stars haven’t scored more than 3 goals in any of their last 6 games. Both teams hit their overs under 50% of the time and we like this under today.

Cash with Flash Best Bets had a silly day yesterday and thank goodness for the Miami Dolphins covering for the third consecutive week otherwise Cash with Flash Best Bets would have been 1-3 after a crappy Monday.

Buffalolosing in overtime gave Cashwith Flash Best Bets its tenth overtime NHL loss of the season and wehaven’t finished October yet smh. One the one hand it means we were unlucky, and our luck should turn around; on the other hand, it’s very frustrating to continuallylose winnable wagers because of an unlucky bounce of the puck.

Cashwith Flash Best Bets understands that is why its called gambling, but it still sucks all thesame.

The NewOrleans Pelicans’ loss was on me. I host the Monday podcastand I wrote yesterday’s column on Sunday evening and neither Jrue Holiday nor Derrick Favorswas on the injury report I getdirectly from NBA media. I would never have touted the Pelicans winningthat ballgame without either of those two.

I put my REALNAME on this column and my reputation as a professional handicapper means a LOTto me and I won’t ever allow that to happen again. Please accept my sincerestapologies if you played the Pelicans last night based on my recommendation.

NBATonight

We havethree NBA games on tonight’s slate and Cash with Flash Best Bets does like onegame of the three.

DallasMavericks +5over DenverNuggets -5

Dallas isprobably the best team the undefeated Nuggets have faced this season and Denverhasn’t won any of their three games by more than eight points. Dallas is restedwhereas the Nuggets had a tough road game with the Sacramento Kings last night.A rested one-two punch of Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncicshould prove too much for the tired Nuggets to deal with tonight. Denver is thedeeper team, but Dallas should be able to cover the five points and Cashwith Flash Best Bets suggests taking the points and playing theMavericks to cover the spread tonight.

NHL Tonight

There are ninegames on tonight’s slate of games and Cash with Flash Best Bets is interestedin a pair of games.

EdmontonOilers -125 over Detroit Red Wings

MinnesotaWild +132 over Dallas Stars
