DFS PROS Jason Mezrahi and Matt Striker are featured in the 7/5 MLB DFS Podcast. Listen to get caught up on who they are planning to play tonight. They break down the large 13-game slate and listen to the late night fireworks outside their houses in New York.

There are so many value Pitchers on this slate. How do we pick one?

There is a ton of pitching value on this slate to go with the aces up top like Jacob deGrom, Justin Verlander, and Clayton Kershaw. Jason suggests to try your best to avoid the top tier pitching and slide down to value plays like Julio Teheran, Eduardo Rodriguez, Masahiro Tanaka, Martin Perez, and Drew Pomeranz. So listen closely to the 7/5 MLB DFS Podcast to find the hidden gems on the Daily Fantasy Baseball schedule.

DFS Expert/Pro Wrestler Matt Striker and FSWA Hall of Famer Scott Engel are featured in the 7/4 MLB DFS Podcast. Listen to get caught up on who they are planning to play today and tonight. They break down the large slate and engage in some interesting banter. Scott actually pulls a Jason Vargas like act on Striker at one point.

Sanchez and Lynn are Top Choices

Anibal Sanchez is maybe the best value for pitching on the slate against his former team. Scott also likes Lance Lynn a lot, but Striker may want to employ a contrarian stack against him. Should you really spend for Dodgesr bats tonight? Some Toronto bats may be in play. Listen closely to the 7/4 MLB DFS Podcast to find the hidden gems on the Daily Fantasy Baseball slate.

DFS PRO Jason Mezrahi and FSWA Hall of Famer Scott Engel are featured in the 7/3 MLB DFS Podcast. Listen to get caught up on who they are planning to play tonight. They break down the large slate and offer some strategy tips for the audience.

All Roads Lead to Astros at Coors

The first decisions you have to make on this slate is how to save on some pitching and find a few values so you can load up on bats tonight in the Houston-Colorado game at Coors Field. Jason believes you can use the likes of Chris Archer or Cal Quantrill, but Scott is very much against using Tyler Alexander, that may be going a bit too far to save salary. DFS PROS Jason Mezrahi and Matt Striker are featured in the 7/2 MLB DFS Podcast. Listen to get caught up on who they are planning to play tonight. They break down the large 15-game slate and give a moment of silence to the late Tyler Skaggs, R.I.P.

Which of the Top 4 pitchers do we want?

The first decision you have to make on this slate is to pay up for the top end pitching or not. Trevor Bauer, Patrick Corbin, Charlie Morton, and Matthew Boyd all are in play. So if you have the cash pay up for savings. But at the same time we have a Coors Field game with the Astros vs the Rockies, which we have to take into consideration as well. So listen closely to the 7/2 MLB DFS Podcast to find the hidden gems on the Daily Fantasy Baseball slate.

Oakland Athletics

The Orioleswill be starting Josh Rogers on Wednesday. Although it is an extremely smallsample size, it is safe that the Baltimore starter is a dumpster fire. In eightinnings this season he has a 6.72 SIERA and a 7.93 xFIP. He is allowing a 46.7%flyball rate and has an extremely low 5.4% K-rate. And if you need furtherevidence that Rogers has been awful in limited action this season, the hurlerhas allowed a 53.3% hard contact rate and a 3.38 HR/9 in 2019.

In his first outing of the season, Rogers was lit up by Oakland. He allowed five earned runs while recording just 11 outs. Look for more of the same this go-’round. The Athletics’ offense has crushed southpaws in 2019. They have a .225 ISO and a .355 wOBA collectively against left-handed pitching. You will want to go four deep with this stack.

Los Angeles Angels

The Angels’ offense as a whole is seeing beach balls at the plate right now. Over the last seven days, Los Angeles has a .249 ISO and a .341 wOBA. During that span they have 12 home runs and 34 runs scored.

A matchupwith Toronto’s Aaron Sanchez should do little to slow down this Angels’ hotstreak. He has a 5.32 SIERA and a 5.19 xFIP on the season. And over his last 15innings pitched Sanchez has been even worse. In that time on the mound he hasallowed a .311/.397/.557 slash line. Expect the Angels to produce big again onWednesday.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Giants’Drew Pomeranz is allowing 2.02 HR/9 in 2019. That number may actually increaseon Wednesday as the Dodgers’ bats flex their muscles against southpaws. LosAngeles has four batters with ISOs over .200 against left-handed pitching thisseason.

Game Stack Special

You will want to get a lineup chalked full of Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers on Wednesday. This game stack is likely to go off in a big way as both scheduled pitchers are struggling in the worst of ways. The Indians’ Adam Pluko is allowing a 50.7% flyball rate which has resulted in the starter allowing a 3.09 HR/9. The Rangers’ Joe Palumbo has allowed a 42.9% flyball rate and a 2.25 HR/9 ratio.

There was a full 15-game slate on Tuesday, June 11th. There were some bargain players who had big games and a couple high priced players who didn’t put up the expected numbers. All salaries and points are based on DraftKings.

Winners

Yuli Gurriel ($3,200)

Gurriel and the Houston Astros played host to the Milwaukee Brewers Tuesday and won a high scoring game, 10-8. Gurriel led the way for the injury-riddled Astros by going by going 3-for-5 with a home run and a double. He had three RBI and scored twice. Gurriel has been just adequate this year and his numbers are down across the board from his career stats. He has a batting average of .260 with an OPS of just .691. He now has five home runs to go with 32 RBI. Last night’s double was his 16th of the year.

Gurriel’s Outlook

Gurriel and the Astros have one more game against the Brewers on Wednesday. They will face Brandon Woodruff, who has pitched very well this year. Woodruff has an ERA of 3.87 and a WHIP of 1.17. He allows an opposing batting average of .241 but has been susceptible to the home run. He has given up eight in just 13 games so far this year. The Brewers have won his last eight starts and he has been credited with six of those. I would expect Gurriel to slide back to earth after his big game Tuesday.

Brian McCann ($3,300)

Brian McCann and the Braves hosted the Pittsburgh Pirates Tuesday. McCann had a big day, going 2-for-4 with two home runs. He finished with four RBI and two runs scored. McCann also struck out once. He scored 32 fantasy points. McCann has played well this year in a platoon and has a batting average of .274 and an OPS of .742. He now has five home runs with 24 RBI over 33 games.

McCann’s Outlook

The Braves have two more home games against the Pirates before hosting the Phillies. Pittsburgh has pitched horribly lately and they have the worst team ERA in the league in the month of June. They have been equally as bad against lefties this year and allow an opposing batting average of .291 to them. This is a great spot for McCann to use his game Tuesday as momentum and build on his year. If McCann is in the lineup do not be afraid to use him.

Yasmani Grandal ($4,300)

Grandal faced Brad Peacock and the Astros Tuesday. They were able to score eight runs in the loss and Grandal was a huge part of that. Grandal went 3-for-5 and hit a ninth inning three-run home run. He also hit a double to go with four RBI and one run scored. He gave his owners 28 fantasy points. Grandal is having a career year playing for the Brewers and has a batting average of .282 and an OPS of .925. He already has hit 14 home runs with 36 RBI.

Grandal’s Outlook

Grandal and the Brewers play the Astros for one more game in Houston. They will face arguably the best pitcher in baseball, Justin Verlander. Verlander has a record of 9-2 with an ERA of 2.31. His most incredible stat is his WHIP, which is at 0.74. He has also struck out 110 batters over 93 innings. Verlander has only given up more than three earned runs twice this year. This should be a low-scoring game and I will be fading the entire game.

Losers

Patrick Corbin ($10,200)

Patrick Corbin of the Washington Nationals faced a struggling White Sox team and he was expected to have a good game. He did the opposite and gave up seven earned runs on six hits and two walks. Two of those hits were home runs. He took the loss and was only able to get through five innings while striking out five. Corbin’s numbers have been decent this year. He has an ERA of 4.11 and a WHIP of 1.22. He has a K/9 of 9.92.

Corbin’s Outlook

Corbin’s next projected start will come on Monday, June 17th at home against the Phillies. The Phillies’ offense has been average lately and have scored 40 runs over nine games in June. They have avoided the strikeout well over that same time period, with only 64 in nine games. They have not been bad this year in that category but have been even better lately. Corbin’s numbers are on par with his career numbers and this doesn’t seem like a spot where he will improve on them. Stay away for the next start against the Phillies.

Freddie Freeman ($5,100)

We saw how well Brian McCann played for the Braves but Freeman was on the opposite end of the spectrum. Freeman went 0-for-4 and struck out once against the Pirates. He was the most expensive hitter in the game and gave his owners zero points. Freeman is having an incredible year so far and has a batting average of .311 and has an OPS of .999. He has hit 18 home runs and has 43 RBI. This performance ended a five-game hitting streak for Freeman.

Freeman’s Outlook

Freeman and the Braves have two more home games against the Pirates. As mentioned above, the Pirates have struggled mightily lately and have been especially bad against lefties. Freeman should bounce back against this weak pitching staff and reward anyone who rosters him after his bad game. Freeman is batting .333 in June and has five home runs and 11 RBI this month.

Injury Report

Buster Posey is on track to be activated from the IL on Wednesday.

Kevin Gausman has been placed on the 10-day IL with a foot injury.

Niko Goodrum will not play Wednesday with a knee injury. His MRI came back negative but his knee has swelled up.

New York Yankees

In his last two starts, the Blue Jays’ Edwin Jackson has combined to score -14 FanDuel points. And his season as a whole has not been any better. He has a slate high 5.22 SIERRA and a 5.62 xFIP. Jackson is not missing many bats as evidenced by his lowly 18.92% whiff rate. Mix in his 46.2% hard contact rate and you should not be surprised to see that he is allowing 3.31 HR/9. Then when you consider the fact that the Yankees have a .203 ISO versus right-handed pitching and it is easy to see why the Pinstripes will be the chalk stack on Thursday.

Of course, the Yankees’ stack will start with Gary Sanchez(FanDuel: $4,500, DraftKings: $5,500). The power hitting catcher has a .405 ISOand a .415 wOBA versus right-handed pitching this season. Gleyber Torres (FanDuel:$3,900, DraftKings: $4,600), Luke Voit (FanDuel: $4,300, DraftKings: $4,900),Clint Frazier (FanDuel: $3,700, DraftKings: $4,500) and Brett Gardner (FanDuel:$3,200, DraftKings: $4,100) all have ISOs above .200 against right-handedpitching this season.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers’ offense gets the call today as they face the Orioles’ David Hess. The Baltimore starter is struggling this season. He has a 7.36 ERA, 5.22 SIERA, and a 5.62 xFIP. Hess also has a low 19.4% K rate and is allowing a 40.7% hard contact rate. To make this an even easier call, Hess is throwing a fastball on more than 50% of his pitches this season. None of this should prevent the Rangers to continue to mash right-handed pitching. The Texas’ offense has a .207 ISO against righties in 2019.

Whenconstructing your Rangers’ stack, focus first on the right-handed batters.Baltimore’s Hess has allowed a .422 wOBA and 4.24 HR/9 to right-handed battersthis season. So, narrow your search down to Hunter Pence (FanDuel: $4,200,DraftKings: $5,600). The outfielder has a .286 ISO and a .383 wOBA versusright-handed pitching. He also owns a .292 ISO versus four-seam fastballs, apitch that Hess throws more than 50% of the time. If going for a two-man stack,Logan Forsythe (FanDuel: $3,300, DraftKings: $4,500) could be that guy. He hasa .383 wOBA and 135 wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season to go alongwith a .320 batting average versus the fastball.

If lookingto go deeper with your Rangers’ stack, Shin-Soo Choo (FanDuel: $4,000,DraftKings: $5,500) is certainly in play despite being left-handed. Not only doeshe rack against righties with a 1.005 OPS and a .417 wOBA, Choo also crushedthe fastball. The outfielder has a .651 SLG and a .289 ISO against the pitch in2019.

Houston Astros

Every timethe opposition sends a southpaw out to the mound to against the Astros, thereshould be interest in stacking Houston bats. The Astros’ offense has a .218 ISOand just a 18.4% K% against lefties this season.

While theMariners’ Tommy Milone has been solid this year, the Astros should stillcontinue to swing big sticks against the lefties here.

The Houston stack needs to start with Alex Bregman (FanDuel: $4,500). The third baseman has a .246 ISO versus left-handed-handed pitching in 2019. After Bregman, your next best Astros’ bats are Jake Marisnick (FanDuel: $2,700) and Josh Reddick (FanDuel: $3,100). Both outfielders have ISOs in the .200s against lefties this season.

UPDATE:

Miami Marlins

While the Marlins will not be confused for the 1927 Yankees, the offense has been better of late. Over the last seven days, they have a .288 batting average and a .342 wOBA. Now throw in the fact that they are facing the Milwaukee Brewers’ Freddy Peralta. The Milwaukee starter is a one-pitch pitcher that gets hard (41.4% hard contact rate) and gives up flyballs (51.4% flyball rate). Peralta throws his fastball over 75% of the time.

You willwant to target Marlins’ bats that do well against the fastball. Austin Dean hasa .357 batting average and a .286 ISO against the pitch. Josh Riddle has a .239ISO versus the fastball in 2019. Josh Alfaro owns a .325 batting average and a.525 ISO against the pitch. In addition to their likely success against Peralta, this little 7-8-1 stack will provide you with some salary relief to pay upelsewhere.

There was a 15 game slate on Wednesday June 5th. I will go into detail on some players who performed really well and a couple who underachieved. Points and salaries are based on DraftKings.

Winners

Jason Vargas ($7,200)

JasonVargas ($7,200)

Jason Vargas and the New York Metshosted the Giants on Wednesday and Vargas pitched an impressive complete game.He gave up only five hits and one walk over nine innings. He struck out eight.Vargas racked up 41.65 fantasy points. Vargas now has a 3.57 ERA and a WHIP of1.35. The strikeout numbers were good and raised his K/9 to 7.35 on the year.

Vargas’Outlook

Vargas will get his next chance tostart on Monday, June 10th against the New York Yankees. The Yankees have a Top10 offense this year and average 5.3 runs per game. They also have a teambatting average of .258, which ranks eighth in the league. I will be fadingVargas in this one as it will be played at Yankee Stadium.

BrianAnderson ($3,700)

Anderson and the Marlins once againtook it to the Brewers and a lot of the damage came early. Anderson went3-for-4 with a home run while batting in the three spot. He added a double andalso took a walk. Anderson scored two times and added four RBI. He scored 37fantasy points. Anderson’s batting average is now .240 and he has an OPS ofonly .690. He has played better lately and has a batting average of .357 inJune.

Anderson’sOutlook

Anderson and the Marlins have onemore game against the Brewers Thursday. They will face Brandon Woodruff, who haspitched pretty well this year. He has an ERA under four and a WHIP of 1.20. TheMarlins offense has been good the first two games of the series but expect someregression in this game. I will be fading Anderson Thursday.

ChrisSale ($10,600)

Sale and the Red Sox were bigfavorites against the Royals on Wednesday and dominated the game, winning 8-0.Sale was impressive and pitched a complete game three hitter. He racked up 12strikeouts and scored 51.45 fantasy points, tops on the night. Sale improved to2-7 on the year. He now has an ERA of 3.84 and an impressive WHIP of exactly 1.00.His K/9 is also looking great at 12.81.

Sale’sOutlook

Sale’s next projected start is onMonday, June 10th at home against the Texas Rangers. The Rangers offense hasbeen very good this year and averages 5.76 runs per game. They have a very goodteam batting average of .257. One good thing in this matchup is that theRangers have the sixth most strikeouts in the league. Sale’s ERA is not greatso far, but his strikeout numbers will keep him as an elite fantasy pitcher forthe remainder of the year.

Losers

JakeArrieta ($8,000)

Arrieta and the Phillies played thePadres in San Diego and won 7-5. The win did not get credited to Arrieta as hestruggled badly in this one. He was only able to get through 4.2 innings andgave up five earned runs on seven hits and five walks. Arrieta gave up two homeruns to the Padres. He was also only able to strike out three. Arrieta now hasa 4.29 ERA to go with a WHIP of 1.43. His K/9 is also low this year at 7.35.This was Arrieta’s second straight game giving up five earned and three homeruns.

Arrieta’sOutlook

Arrieta’s next projected start willcome against the Diamondbacks at home on June 11th. The Diamondbacks have agood offense this year and average over five runs per game with a team battingaverage of .257. Both of these stats are in the Top 10 in the league. Arrietahas scuffled recently and I do not see this as a spot for him to bounce back.Hold off for another start and revisit him in his next outing.

HowieKendrick ($5,800)

Kendrick and the Washington Nationalshosted the White Sox on Wednesday. They were able to get the win 6-4, but noneof the offense was because of Kendrick. He went 0-for-4 with a strikeout andscored zero fantasy points. Kendrick is having a really good year and has abatting average of .322 with an OPS of .953. He has hit 10 home runs to go withnine doubles and 35 RBI.

Kendrick’sOutlook

The Washington Nationals now head toSan Diego for a four game series against the Padres. The Padres have the 10thranked team ERA in the Majors at 4.16. They allow a team batting average of.241, which also ranks 10th in the league. The Padres have struggled lately andhave a team ERA of 5.94 over their last six games. Kendrick has been very solidthis year and this looks to have been an outlier game Wednesday. RosterKendrick moving forward as he should get back to putting together a good season.

InjuryReport

Lorenzo Cain left Wednesday’s game in the ninth after fouling a ball offhis foot. Check his status for Thursday before adding him to your roster.

Jonathan Villar left the game Wednesday with a thumb issue. Check back foran update on Villar’s status Thursday.

Jason Vargas and the New York Mets hosted the Giants on Wednesday and Vargas pitched an impressive full game. He gave up only five hits and one walk over nine innings. He struck out eight. Vargas racked up 41.65 fantasy points for you if you selected him. Vargas now has a 3.57 ERA and a WHIP of 1.35. The strikeout numbers were good for him and raised his K/9 to 7.35 on the year.

Vargas’ Outlook

Vargas will get his next chance to start on Monday, June 10th against the New York Yankees. The Yankees have had a Top 10 offense this year and average 5.3 runs per game. They also have a team batting average of .258, which ranks eighth in the league. I will be fading Vargas in this one as it will be played at Yankee Stadium and the Yankees’ offense has been good this year.

Brian Anderson ($3,700)

Anderson and the Marlins once again took it to the Brewers and a lot of the damage came early. Anderson went 3-for-4 with a home run while batting in the three spot. He added a double and also took a walk. Anderson scored two times and added four RBI. He scored 37 fantasy points. Anderson’s batting average is now .240 and he has an OPS of only .690. He has played better lately and has a batting average of .357 in June.

Anderson’s Outlook

Anderson and the Marlins have one more game against the Brewers Thursday. They will face Brandon Woodruff and as I said in Wednesday’s article, Woodruff has pitched pretty well this year. He has an ERA under four and a WHIP of 1.20. The Marlins offense has been good the first two games of the series but expect some regression in this game. I will be fading Anderson in this spot Thursday.

Chris Sale ($10,600)

Sale and the Red Sox were big favorites against the Royals on Wednesday and dominated the game, winning 8-0. Sale was impressive and pitched a complete game three hitter. He racked up 12 strikeouts and scored 51.45 fantasy points, tops on the night. Sale improved to 2-7 on the year. He now has an ERA of 3.84 and an impressive WHIP of exactly one. His K/9 is also looking great, at 12.81.

Sale’s Outlook

Sale’s next projected start is on Monday, June 10th at home against the Texas Rangers. The Rangers offense has been very good this year and average 5.76 runs per game. They have a very good team batting average of .257 as well. One good thing in this matchup is that the Rangers have the sixth most strikeouts in the league. Sale’s ERA is not great so far but his strikeout numbers will keep him as an elite fantasy pitcher for the remainder of the year, no matter who the opponent is.

Losers

Jake Arrieta ($8,000)

Arrieta and the Phillies played the Padres in San Diego and won 7-5. The win did not get registered to Arrieta as he struggled badly in this one. He was only able to get through 4.2 innings and gave up five earned runs on seven hits and five walks. Arrieta gave up two home runs to the Padres. He was also only able to strike out three. Arrieta now has a 4.29 ERA to go with a WHIP of 1.43. His K/9 is also low this year and is now at 7.35. This is Arrieta’s second straight game giving up five earned and three home runs.

Arrieta’s Outlook

Arrieta’s next projected start will come against the Diamondbacks at home on June 11th. The Diamondbacks have a good offense this year and average over five runs per game and have a team batting average of .257. Both of these stats are in the Top 10 in the league. Arrieta has scuffled recently and I do not see this as a spot for him to bounce back. Hold off for another start and revisit him in his next start.

Howie Kendrick ($5,800)

Kendrick and the Washington Nationals hosted the White Sox on Wednesday. They were able to get the win 6-4 but none of this was because of Kendrick’s offense. He went 0-for-4 with a strikeout and scored zero fantasy points. Kendrick has had a really good year this year and has a batting average of .322 with an OPS of .953. He has hit 10 home runs to go with nine doubles and 35 RBI.

Kendrick’s Outlook

The Washington Nationals now head to San Diego for a four game series against the Padres. The Padres have the 10th ranked team ERA in the majors at 4.16. They allow a team batting average of .241, which also ranks 10th in the league. The Padres have struggled lately and have a team ERA of 5.94 over their last six games. Kendrick has been very solid this year and this looks to have been an outlier game Wednesday. Roster Kendrick moving forward as he should get back to his hot season.
