MLBDaily Fantasy Sports MLB DFS: Aces and Bases – 6/5 (FanDuel Main Slate) Antonio D'Arcangelis 3 years ago written by Antonio D'Arcangelis Today’s edition of Aces and Bases focuses ONLY on FanDuel’s six-game MLB DFS Main Slate for 7:05PM ET, hopefully finding you some green screens!No major weather concerns, but there’s a game in Coors with an 11.5 point total and two pitchers, one — LHP Kyle Freeland — with 7 BB in 8.0 IP so far this season and the other, visiting lefty SP Cole Irvin — with a .358 career road wOBA. It goes without saying to get exposure to this game, but we’ll give you some other options to consider.MLB DFS: The AcesTop MLB DFS Ace: Jacob deGrom ($11,500)It’s hard to click any other name at SP on FD, even though Kevin Gausman’s last four starts (averaging 52.5 FD points and 9 K per game) have the edge on deGrom’s last four (43.25 FD points and 8 K per game). The Mets ace costs just $300 more than Gausman and boasts a very silly 1.53 xFIP, compared to a still-impressive 3.07 for the Giants RHP. I’ll have shares of both, but deGrom is still deGOAT.Best GPP Value: Joe Musgrove ($8,300)He’s much harder to trust than the big dogs, but Muskrat Joe (2.08 ERA, 2.65 xFIP, 11.72 K/9 in 11 starts this season) is a dynamic pitcher who can break a slate. The salary savings allow you to get whatever Coors game stack you want, albeit with a much higher risk. There are definitely signs that regression is coming, as Musgrove’s .212 BABIP is a solid 80 percentage points lower than his career metric (.294), but I’m willing to ride out another start about this pesky DFS darling.Contrarian GPP Play: Kevin Gausman ($11,200)Gausman’s numbers are amazing this season, and as discussed earlier in the deGrom writeup, he’s on a helluva run with his K numbers. The Cubs strike out at a 25.2% team rate, a lot more than the Padres (21.1%), so I’m inclined to be overweight on Gausman in GPPs for the additional leverage, as deGrom should still earn more ownership. Again — pricing is pretty soft for some of the high-projected-total games, so the big spend SPs will make up about 90 percent of the ownership.MLB DFS: The BasesTop Stack: Colorado Rockies vs. OAK LHP Cole IrvinThe A’s are a fine choice for top spot too, with Mark Canha ($4,200), Matt Chapman ($3,800), Matt Olson ($4,400)and Jed Lowrie ($3,600) being the obvious four-man stack at or near the top of the order. But they are pretty expensive, and they might be tough to fit in some cases with deGrom or Gausman up top. Canha is an impressive hitter who sees the ball well and makes for an amazing leadoff hitter in Coors, so I’ll haver some Colorado stacks that add on him as the primary one-off for OAK, and then find a three-man stack from another game for leverage. For the Rockies, I prefer C.J. Cron ($3,700), Charlie Blackmon ($3,900), Garrett Hampson ($3,300) and Joshua Fuentes ($3,400) against Irvin (who’s given up 24 hits over his last three starts), though there may be some other necessary value plays depending on who starts.Value Stack: New York Yankees vs. BOS LHP Eduardo RodriguezRodriguez has been very “gettable” in his last three starts, and while the Yankees strike out a lot, Yankee Stadium is getting hot and humid and the wind is blowing out to right center today, aiding some of those power righty bats in the Bronx. There’s loads of value and upside in rostering a three or four-man Yankees stack tonight, with D.J. LeMahieu ($3,000), Aaron Judge ($3,600) and Gleyber Torres ($2,900) as my three favorite “spends” and Gio Urshela ($2,500), Gary Sanchez ($2,400) and Clint Frazier ($2,300) clocking in with serious bargain prices.Contrarian Stack: Los Angeles Angels vs. SEA LHP Yusei KikuchiKikuchi has been okay in 2021, but he hasn’t been missing as many bats in his last few starts, opening himself up for a possible letdown against the home team Angels and their parade of right-handed power bats, including Justin Upton ($3,000), Anthony Rendon ($3,200) and Taylor Ward. ($2,600) And there’s obviously Shohei Ohtani ($4,000), whose metrics against LHP are a bit down in ’21. MLB Daily Fantasy Stacks for MLB: Winning Edge for July 29 Paul Cuccinello 5 years ago written by Paul Cuccinello This report will provide recommended DFS stack options for today’s seven-game main slate. I will also include my favorite pitching picks. **All plays are listed in order of preference. Please check back between 5-6 PM EST as some players can receive rest days or get limited at bats especially as we get closer to the postseason. Make sure you are watching the weather as well.Daily Fantasy Stack: Cincinnati Redsvs. RHP Alex McRae (PIT): 6.15 Runs**Low RiskThe Reds are facing Jordan Lyles, who has seen better days over his last four starts. He has given up five or more runs in his last three of four games. This isn’t Coors Field, but it is close enough. Lyles carries a 5.36 ERA 4.81 FIP, and 4.43 SIERA on the year. He continues to struggle against left handed batting, allowing them to slash to a .416 wOBA, .630 SLG, and .403 OBP while allowing 28 earned runs over 31 innings pitched. I’m not huge on BvP statistics but the Reds have seen a lot of success against Lyles. They have six players with .900 OPS or better against him. The Reds are slashing to a .355, .194 ISO, and 117 WRC+ against righties the last two weeks. We’ve all come to find out Lyles was traded to the Reds so now we get Alex McRae on the mound. Same struggle to lefties, even better matchup for the Reds. I’ve upgraded this to a low risk play. You cannot beat the value here, but we do have some weather concerns.Preferred Stack: Yasiel Puig ($3100 FD|$4400 DK), Jesse Winker ($2800 FD|$4100 DK), Eugenio Suarez ($3900 FD|$5100 DK), and Joey Votto ($3300 FD|$4000 DK). Value: Scooter Gennett ($2600 FD|$3400 DK) has been making good contact leading up to tonight’s game and he’s way too cheap on both sites. Daily Fantasy Stack: Los Angeles Angelsvs. RHP Jordan Zimmermann (DET): 6.60 Runs**Low RiskJordan Zimmermann is on the mound tonight for the Tigers and he is B-A-D. He owns a 7.57 ERA, 4.88 FIP, and 5.35 SIERA. Although he is worse vs. left handed batting, he is no angel to righties. They are slashing to a .358 wOBA, .530 SLG, and .345 OBP while he has allowed 27 earned runs over 31 innings pitched to them. Zimmermann basically allows one earned run per inning pitched so roll out the Angels with confidence this evening. They are slashing to a .315 wOBA, .205 ISO, and 99 WRC+ over the last month. Preferred Stack: Shohei Ohtani ($4200 FD|$5200 DK), Justin Upton ($3600 FD|$4000 DK), Mike Trout ($4900 FD|$5700 DK), and Albert Pujols ($3100 FD|$4400 DK).Daily Fantasy Stack: Los Angeles Dodgersvs. RHP Jon Gray (LAD): 6.90 Runs**Moderate RiskNo one is reinventing the wheel by playing either one of these teams at Coors tonight. This game will be highly owned as the Coors matchups typically are. The salaries are too high so we can’t stack both unless you’re okay with pitching Pannone and we’re not going to go there. Jon Gray has closed the gap in his splits and has actually fared decent at home. He is allowing batters to slash to a .333 wOBA, .463 SLG, and .336 OBP. He has allowed 24 earned runs and seven home runs over 55 innings pitched. Most will target the high power lefties like Max Muncy or Cody Bellinger and those plays are great, but you can easily differentiate from the field and play guys like A.J. Pollock and Justin Turner. The Dodgers are slashing to a slate high .381 wOBA, .281 ISO, and 140 WRC+ right now.Preferred Plays: Justin Turner ($4300 FD|$5200 DK), Max Muncy ($5600 FD|$4500 DK), Cody Bellinger ($4900 FD|$5800 DK), and Alex Verdugo ($3100 FD|$4500 DK). Don’t forget about Joc Pederson ($4200 FD|$5300 DK) and A.J. MLB FanDuel WFBC: The Road to San Diego through Coors Field Scott Engel 5 years ago written by Scott Engel Wes Passinault can thank Ian Desmond and revel in the worst performance of the season by Hyun Jin-Ryu, He is headed to the biggest Fantasy Sports event he could ever hope to be a part of, the FanDuel WFBC. The 36 year-old accountant from Amherst, Wisconsin won a seat in the 2019 $2,000,000 FanDuel World Fantasy Baseball Championship in San Diego on August 24 by taking down a qualifier on June 28. He also did it with some input from his friend and Win Daily analyst Mark Paquette.The Path Goes Through Colorado“I was teetering on using Desmond,” he said. “But Mark told me for a Colorado bat at $3200, I had to take him. That is what took it over the edge for me.”The Rockies and Dodgers combined for 22 runs that night. Desmond scored 18.9 points on FanDuel, going 2 for 5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Passinault used seven hitters from the Los Angeles/Colorado game. Nolan Arenado had a four-hit night, with two doubles and a HR, and led the way to the FanDuel WFBC with 40.4 points. Max Muncy had a homer and four RBI and came in with 38.7. “I felt confident like I always did, and I had more confidence on that night targeting Coors Field bats,” he said. “I knew I was going to get on some Rockies bats that night.”A savvy Fantasy DFS player, Passinault has been competing since 2000 in seasonal and 2013 in Daily games. He was set on attacking Ryu, the premier pitcher in the National League, when most others would not. He was not afraid to gun for the rare Ryu down outing in Colorado.It’s not often when Colorado bats go so underowned at home. I looked up the projected ownership numbers for Arenado and stuck with him and never changed,” Passinault said. Ryu allowed seven earned runs and helped Passinault to his biggest Fantasy night ever and a seat in the FanDuel WFBC. The previous season, he had won $2,500 in a multi-entry tournament on FanDuel. Now he had woken up to approximately $8,000. He took first place in four of the five tournaments he entered that night. The Delayed Winning ReactionBut Passinault did not find out about his winnings and seat in the live finals in San Diego until the next day. He said he knew he was going to be close to some success. But he simply turned his phone off for the night before the games ended. He didn’t realize his good fortune until the next day when he was readying for a cornhole tournament. “My phone just started exploding,” he said. “Then I saw that I had won the qualifier and realized what happened.”Passinault estimated he had tried to qualify for a seat in the FanDuel WFBC 55 times before he finally got in. Now he is going to play for a first place prize of $500,000 and is guaranteed a minimum of $5,000. He is having all his expenses paid for the trip and will experience welcome and viewing parties. He will also be entered into a $50,000 single game championship tournament at a Red Sox/Padres game at Petco Park, among other VIP experiences. This will be his first ever trip to San Diego. “What I am really looking forward to the most is being with all those great DFS players in one room, and experiencing the culture as all of them get together,” Passinault said. “I think I just might be an Average Joe compared to some of these guys.” Not Feeling the PressureBut Passinault said he is not putting an extra pressure on himself as the FanDuel WFBC event approaches.“I am just going to get back to playing DFS and focus on the day at hand,” he said. In the meantime, Passinault is also grateful to his friend Paquette. Passinault had previously followed Mark on Twitter and reached out to him during the previous NBA season to start chatting DFS. It was the Win Daily writer who ultimately urged him to roster Desmond. Ultimately, though, Passinault said his love for numbers and going with his gut has gotten him this far. Now he’ll be enjoying the VIP DFS experience of a lifetime at the FanDuel WFBC. “As an accountant I have a natural love for the numbers, but about 40 percent of it is just gut feel,” he said. “Sometimes my gut will just tell me to go the other way.”That mix of number crunching and going with hunches has Wes Passinault on his way to the Fantasy experience of his life. In the first game of the doubleheader in Coors the Giants scored 19 runs and the two teams combined for 21 runs in an outburst that was not even part of the mains late for MLB DFS Stacks. In the second game, the Giants also won the game. But they scored two runs and the teams combined to score three. Baseball for you….MLB DFS Stacks to Use on TuesdayBoston: The Blue Jays are playing bad baseball and are starting Brad Waguespack. This will be his third Major League appearance this year. And by using that same logic tonight, 25 runs should be scored.Nationals: A matchup with the fellow team in the mid-Atlantic is just what the doctor ordered for your MLB DFS Stacks. Not only will the Nats get some at-bats against a brutally bad bullpen in a park that greatly favors the batter, you will start off the game against Asher Wojciechowski. I am beginning to understand why the Red Sox, Yankees and Rays all won 90+ games last year and will do so again when they get to play the Jays and Orioles 19 times each. First Base – Daniel Murphy, Colorado RockiesDraftKings – $4,300, FanDuel – $3,700Tanner Roark struggles a ton against lefties and Daniel Murphy is an above average hitter and we get the Coors Field boost here for DFS Hitting.Second Base – Whit Merrifield, Kansas City RoyalsDraftKings – $4,200, FanDuel – $3,600I love how Merrifield is hitting right now, he’s on fire. He gets a lefty, and he is a career .310 hitter vs. them. There is always a stolen base threat here also.Shortstop – Elvis Andrus, Texas RangersDraftKings – $4,400, FanDuel – $3,800Elvis Andrus is always a very solid DFS Hitting play at home and I love him more against lefties. Wade Miley isn’t going to strike out a ton, so the ball will be put in play here with the Texas air boost.Third Base – Nolan Arenado, Colorado RockiesDraftKings – $4,900, FanDuel – $4,400Nolan Arenado at under $5,000 on DraftKings is a crime. Tanner Roark is mediocre and I think Nolan takes him deep in Coors.Outfield – Charlie Blackmon, Colorado RockiesDraftKings – $5,500, FanDuel – $4,600As one of the hottest hitters in baseball, Blackmon is my favorite DFS Hitting plays on the slate. Roark cannot get lefties out and Blackmon has been very hot overall. Outfield – Mike Trout, Los Angeles AngelsDraftKings – $5,200, FanDuel – $4,800Mike Trout against a lefty at home? Gimme gimme. Wade LeBlanc is a terrible pitcher and Mike Trout is the best player in the league. Give me all the lefties plus Nolan Arenado. Charlie Blackmon, Daniel Murphy, and David Dahl. There’s no reason why they shouldn’t be the highest scoring team on the slate.2.) Texas RangersOutside of his home stadium, Wade Miley has been horrible. He holds a 4.56 ERA and a .250 BAA. He has been worse against right handed bats and that’s who I want to target with DFS Hitting Stacks. I also love Joey Gallo as he MASHES left handed pitching in Texas. He gets a lefty, and he is a career .310 hitter vs. them. There is always a stolen base threat here also.Shortstop – Elvis Andrus, Texas RangersDraftKings – $4,400, FanDuel – $3,800Elvis Andrus is always a very solid DFS Hitting play at home and I love him more against lefties.
