8/13 DFS Pitching Cash Game Pitchers

Gerrit Cole, HOU at CWS

DK ($12,700)   FD ($12,400)

Cole has amassed at least 40 FanDuel points in 10 of his past 11 starts and comes into the nightcap of a twin-bill at Guaranteed Rate Field with at least 40 FD in seven straight starts. He’s going to cost a pretty penny, but damned if he’s not worth it. Cole averages 12.98 K/9 while holding opposing bats to a .199 average. Even with an increased hard contact (35.2%) rate, you have to put Cole ahead of (almost all) the Tuesday pack for the simple fact he’s facing one of the league’s most free-swinging teams in the White Sox, who are 25th overall with 1,115 whiffs. That’s a robust average of 9.61 strikeouts per game, so even if Cole falls short of his K/9 rate, he stands a good chance to be money well spent.

Clayton Kershaw, LAD at MIA

DK ($11,800)   FD ($12,000)

As much as Cole and his strikeout potential look tempting to use, Kershaw gets the Tuesday night edge here. Kershaw’s K/9 have fallen to “just’ 9.07, but the combination of a 1.94 BB/9 rate and a matchup against the league’s second-lowest scoring offense is a winning pair. Miami is averaging a mere 3.66 runs per game and are tied with Detroit for the Major League worst in OPS+ (78). Add the fact the game is being played the offensive hellhole known as Marlins Park, and Kershaw — who is slightly less expensive than Cole — is going to be (with all apologies to Becky Lynch) The Man when it comes to pitching options tonight.

8/13 DFS Pitching GPP Pitchers

Chris Sale, BOS at CLE

DK ($10,700)   FD ($10,500)

There can be no Sale when it comes to making him a reliable cash game hurler. What a difference a year makes, huh? Sale comes off a 13-K gem over eight scoreless innings against the Angels last time out, but he had a combined 18 FanDuel points in his previous two starts. Come for the strikeouts (13.18 K/9) but his 1.41 HR/9 is more than double his rate from 2018, and it is abundantly factual that hitters have pounded Sale at career-high levels, especially when one looks at the 35.8% hard contact rate, the first time since 2016 and only the second time in his career that Sale’s HCR has gone above 30. The decreased velocity in his heater (93.1 mph) has also thrown up a red flag. There’s a lot to love here, just enough to suggest Sale, who sees the new AL Central leaders for the first time this season.

Max Fried, ATL vs. NYM

DK ($6,700)   FD ($8,400)

Fried’s mound opponent, Zack Wheeler, is on the outside looking in only because he’s more expensive. That’s not to take away from Fried, who has shown strong signs of maturity since the All-Star Break, dropping his ERA from 4.29 to 3.32 along with whacking his OBA from .283 to .244. He’s juiced his K/9 rate to 9.12 after striking out 10 in a win against the Twins in his last start and while his control isn’t Kershaw-like, Fried’s 2.62 BB/9 is a big check on his positive side. While he owns a 12:2 K:BB rate in 11 innings against the Mets this season, he has been hit to the tune of .356 in his two starts, yet this is much different Fried the Mets will be looking at. New York has yet to homer against him, as Fried’s 22.2% fly ball rate is an encouraging number for those considering to run with the young Braves hurler.

8/13 DFS Pitching Punt Play

Zac Gallen, ARI at COL

DK ($7,000)   FD ($7,000)

Gallen has yet to allow more than three earned runs in his first eight starts, and I’m betting he’ll make it nine despite having to make his first appearance at Coors Field. The rookie comes into Tuesday having recorded at least 39 FanDuel points in his last three starts and has gone at least seven innings in two of those outings. Walks (4.57 BB/9) have been his biggest issue, yet Gallen hasn’t been taxed dearly (at least for now) as he’s allowed just three homers in 41.1 innings. Colorado is 22nd in batter strikeouts and makes a nice fit for Gallen, who is averaging 10.67 K/9. There is considerable risk here, but I think there’s high reward for those willing to gamble.

8/13 DFS Stack Plays

New York Yankees: They’re playing Fantasy Baseball when facing the Orioles staff. Start with Gleyber Torres ($4,400/$3,600 DK/FD) and figure out the rest.

Houston Astros: Josh Reddick ($3,400/$2,700) is the hidden gem against Ivan Nova, who is due for regression after four straight solid starts.

Cincinnati Reds: Aristides Aquino ($4,600/$3,900) is the anchor of an underrated stack at Nationals hurler Joe Ross, who is vulnerable to the long ball.

A look at some of the winners on the MLB DFS slate last night and how members and staff of  Win Daily took advantage of them. Here is our 8/9 MLB DFS Winners report.

8/9 MLB DFS Winners: Marlins

Maybe I will take advantage of this the next time we see a lefty starting in Miami! When that happens, use Marlins bats! Here is our own MLB Moving Averages and what he said about them on Twitter and in our Premium Gold slack chat room:   DFS Outlook: Can’t say we will or can recommend Marlins much the rest of the season. But against a lefty at home go for it! You can get winning picks from MLB Moving Avg. regularly as part of the betting section. It’s all included with your Premium Gold upgrade.

8/9 MLB DFS Winners: Chris Sale

Sale delivered a performance that the Red Sox sorely needed. Even though the Angels are not a team that generally strikes out a lot, Fenway Park and Sale proved to be the exception. He reached 200 strikeouts for the seventh consecutive season when he struck out the side in top of the seventh. DFS Outlook: The Red Sox wild-card playoff hopes rest squarely on Sale’s left arm. He should be able to prove himself more as the Red Sox have a favorable schedule the rest of the season.

8/9 MLB DFS Winners: Yankees

In our hitting and stacks article found here, the Yankees were highlighted as our favorite stack of the night. Well they came through again, as so often has been the case in 2019.DFS Outlook: For the rest of the season, the Yankees will be a DFS stack option as the deep and powerful lineup takes aim at history as one of the best hitting baseball teams of all-time.

8/9 MLB DFS Winners: Aristides Aquino

In the same article mentioned above, Aquino was written up:DFS Outlook: Aquino has shown a potent bat in the short time he has been in the Majors. He and Josh VanMeter will be seeing plenty of at-bats the rest of the season to prove they belong on the team in 2020. Sign up NOW for WIN DAILY Premium Gold right here! The 8/8 MLB DFS slate is a small eight gamer. Despite the limited number of games, there are plenty of interesting pitching options for Daily Fantasy purposes. Below are four pitching recommendations for the 8/8 MLB DFS slate. Sign up NOW for WIN DAILY Premium Gold right here! Projections, weather reports, wagering info, 24/7 expert chats and more!

Aaron Nola vs. San Francisco Giants

DraftKings – $10,600 FanDuel – $10,800The Phillies’ Aaron Nola might be priced a bit on the high side for this 8/8 MLB DFS slate. But it is hard to argue with his floor. He owns a 26.9% K% and faces a Giants’ offense with a sub-par .138 ISO. With the lack of firepower on the Giants’ side, Nola’s blowup chances are pretty low here, making him an excellent cash game option for Thursday.

Chris Sale vs. Los Angeles Angels

DraftKings – $10,000  FanDuel – $9,600 Sale’s 4.68 ERA is tough to get past for this 8/8 MLB DFS slate. But his 3.06 xFIP and 3.10 SIERA paints a better picture of the type of hurler he is. Regression should be in his favor today. And his strikeout upside with a 34.6% K% always puts him in the player pool. Today should be no different, especially with the suppressed price on FanDuel.

Dallas Keuchel vs. Miami Marlins

DraftKings – $8,000 FanDuel – $8,700No one will ever mistake Dallas Keuchel as a sexy DFS play but on this particular day, he should get some consideration. He has an excellent matchup against the Miami Marlins and their lowly .145 ISO. While his upside will be limited by his pitch to contact approach, Keuchel’s a very safe, cheap pitching option whose floor should provide DFS players comfort on this 8/8 MLB DFS slate.

Madison Bumgarner vs. Philadelphia Phillies

DraftKings – $9,000 FanDuel – $8,300The Giants’ Madison Bumgarner may not be the dominant pitcher he once was, but the southpaw continues to thrive at home in 2019. In San Francisco this season, Bumgarner has a 25.5% K% while holding his opponents to a .236/.274/.377 slash line. With the Phillies owning just a .155 ISO and a 86 wRC+ on the road, Bumgarner’s success at home should continue on this 8/8 MLB DFS slate.

Monkey Knife Fight Pitching Props

Let’s double dip with a Nola and Bumgarner prop play here. An 11.5 goal on the Count Ks contest seems a little low for the duo. MKF

7/29 MLB DFS Winners

Jose Altuve ($4,500)

Jose Altuve was one of the MLB DFS Hitting Picks of Destiny for Sunday. Check them out every weekend on Win Daily. Altuve went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and a run. Altuve is creeping up to .300 for the year with a .293 batting average. Look for him to continue racking up hits and getting on base on Tuesday’s slate.

Altuve’s Outlook

Jose Altuve may just be the hottest hitter in baseball right now. He is batting .415 with six home runs and 16 RBI in his last 15 games played. If Altuve continues to have pop in his bat like the way he is hitting currently, it could give the Astros a chance to play the Wild Card winner come the playoffs. The Houston Astros are off today, but begin a series against the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday. The Indians have Shane Bieber on the mound, but that shouldn’t stop Altuve from continuing the hitting tear he has been on of late.

Jorge Polanco ($4,900)

Listed as a shortstop stud on the MLB DFS Hitting Picks of Destiny, Jorge Polanco had a solid day at the plate against the Chicago White Sox. He went 2-for-5 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored. He jumped on Dylan Covey, who failed to record an out, with a home run in the first. Look for Polanco to continue hitting on Tuesday’s slate as well.

Polanco’s Outlook

Jorge Polanco has been hitting well in the past week, batting .300 with three homers and seven RBI. His next game is an interleague matchup on Tuesday in Miami against the Marlins. Look for him to continue being productive at the plate. The Marlins have Zac Gallen on the mound and should have trouble pitching to this lineup.

7/29 MLB DFS Losers

Chris Sale ($16,500)

Chris Sale had a lofty price tag on him last night against the New York Yankees and failed to live up to it. He went 5.1 innings and allowed six runs on five hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. He picked up his 10th loss of the year, which is the most since he was traded to Boston. Fade Sale in his next start.

Sale’s Outlook

Chris Sale has been struggling. He is 2-3 with a 6.05 ERA in his last seven starts with just 38.2 innings pitched. Sale’s next start is slated for one of the games during the doubleheader on Saturday in New York against the Yankees. The Bronx Bombers seem to have Sale’s number this season, so avoid him for his next start.

Trevor Bauer ($11,100)

Another pitcher who did not have a good outing yesterday was Trevor Bauer, who went 4.1 innings while allowing eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits and four walks with six strikeouts. He has a 3.79 ERA after the outing and a 1.21 WHIP. Bauer should be solid in his next outing, whether it is in Cleveland or somewhere else.

Bauer’s Outlook

Trevor Bauer had a tough fifth inning, where he imploded and threw the ball over the center field wall from the mound before being taken out of the game. This could potentially be the last image we have on Bauer in an Indians jersey. He had a bad start, but was solid beforehand. If he stays on Cleveland, his next start will be Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels. Look for Bauer to bounce back in his next game.

7/29 MLB DFS Injury Update

Robert Acuna Jr and Jean Segura were involved in a collision at second base yesterday. Acuna slid into Segura’s knee and both players left the game. Acuna had neck stiffness, but felt better after the game and expects to be in today’s lineup. Segura suffered a contusion from being hit with the J.T. Realmuto throw on the play.

The New York Yankees placed CC Sabathia on the 10-day IL with right knee inflammation. Tyler Wade was recalled from Triple-A.

We have a nice looking MLB DFS slate to attack for this Sunday in late July. So without further ado, lets dive right in. Several aces to chose from on this MLB DFS slate.

Find out which hitters to use tonight on FanDuel with our Premium Gold Data Driven Projections.

MLB DFS Upper-Tier Arms

Robbie Ray, Diamondbacks at Marlins ($10,200 FD, $10,800 DK): For the rest of the MLB DFS season, people are going to be picking on Miami, Detroit, Seattle and the Chicago White Sox. Well, lets start with the first team on the list, the Marlins. Even though Ray has been the center of trade rumors this month, he has pitched well recently. Or maybe he has pitched well because of that? There were plenty of scouts in attendance for his last start on Monday against Baltimore. In that game, Ray fanned 10 in six innings and allowed three runs. Ray is more of a GPP option when compared to guy below.

Trevor Bauer, Indians at Royals ($11,100 FD, $11,100 DK): Today is the second day in a row where an ace is priced the same on the two major sites. hopefully Bauer will perform as well as Clayton Kershaw did yesterday afternoon. In his last start, Bauer tossed 7 2/3 shutout innings with nine strikeouts in 117 pitches against the Blue Jays. His two-seam fastball worked particularly well over that appearance. He continues to be a workhorse, with 100-plus pitches in 20 of his 23 starts. Bauer is a great cash-game option for the main MLB DFS slate.

Honorable mention: Chris Sale. Since he won’t be on any normal slate but he will pitch well against the Yankees at night.

Win Daily offers several membership options including a free membership and Premium Gold. Both are available for different prices and lengths. Our most popular option is our Gold Monthly recurring subscription. You can also purchase a weekly or yearly subscription.

MLB DFS Middle-Tier Arm

Matthew Boyd, Tigers at Mariners ($9,700 FD, $11,400 DK): A little expensive for a middle-tier arm and not on the main-slate. Boyd returns home to his Seattle-area home for what could be his last start as a Tiger with next week’s trade deadline looming. He struck out eight Phillies over six innings Tuesday, with a HR accounting for the only runs against him. A cash-game option for the late afternoon MLB DFS slate.

If you already have a free registered membership, we suggest upgrading to our Premium Gold monthly membership plan for regular access to MLB Weather Reports.

MLB DFS Bargain-Basement Arms

I have a pair of cheap pitchers in MLB DFS that I like better than any other middle-priced pitcher. Jason Vargas, Pirates at Mets,
($7,000 FD, $6,700 DK) and Kyle Gibson, Twins at White Sox ($7,200 FD, $7,900 DK) are the pair of arms I like. Both pitchers have a really nice combination of park factors and/or opponents that I like to attack.

7/28 MLB DFS Monkey Knife Fight Picks of the Day

A rather easy and simple pick for me today. Trevor Bauer is in a great spot to pick up nine strikeouts. Kansas City’s lineup is full of young right-handed batters that Bauer should be able to dominate.

Stephen Strasburg gets Colorado at home and is not outrageouslypriced at $10,700 on DraftKings. The strikeout upside is certainly there andthe Rockies are 21st in team batting over the past week. He lookslike a strong MLB DFS Pitching cash game play and can fit into your salarystructure in a GPP as well.

Has anyone noticed Dakota Hudson has not allowed more than three runs in 16 consecutive starts? There is not high strikeout promise, but you could get a lengthy enough start out of him and he is well worth the value play at just $6500. The Pirates are 27th in team batting over the past seven days. He could also help you roster Trevor Bauer against Toronto on a two-pitcher site. Bauer is at $11,400 and is an obvious strong cash game play and utilizing Hudson could also help you fit him in for your GPPs. The Cardinals starter will offer MLB DFS Pitching flexibility whether you want to save money for Bauer or bats.

Chris Sale (11,000) also obviously deserves strong MLB DFSPitching consideration after coming off a terrific turnaround start in his lastouting. Tampa Bay is third-worst in team batting over the past week. Sale is slightlycheaper than Bauer and has provided renewed confidence in him. He’s a bit morepricey than Strasburg, but not by much. Among Strasburg, Bauer and Sale, Imight end up in the middle price wise with the Boston starter.

Aaron Nola is going to be the ultimate MLB DFS Pitching cash play at $10,100 against the Tigers and should be widely owned. I will likely pivot off him in GPPs because he should be so heavily rostered. That’s where I will likely go to Sale over Strasburg and Bauer.

Chris Paddack is in the same MLB DFS Pitching conversation asNola at $10,300 coming off a terrific start and facing a Mets team that wasmostly held down this past weekend at San Francisco. But the Mets offense isnot as good a matchup as the Detroit one. Paddack will be my second cash gameselection and I might take him in GPPs over Nola.

In the same game, Jason Vargas can save you salary  at $6600, as he has consistently heldopponents to three or less runs for most of the season. But he may have a hardtime getting in line for the win over Paddack.

Caleb Smith appears to be the friendliest of the better qualityMLB DFS Pitching options at $9400 against the White Sox, who are middle of thepack in hitting over the past week. That makes three strong cash game picks fortonight in Nola, Paddack and Smith. But I slightly prefer the other two basedon their matchups. If it comes down to a decision where you simply don’t wantto eliminate a key bat from your lineup, go with Smith. But getting a win maybe hard when you consider he is being supported by an offense that was justshut down by Ivan Nova. It’s not an easy decision between Nola, Paddack andSmith.

Yu Darvish ($9,200) has started to turn things around lately, but the Giants are hot and are not a team that I want to target with my pitchers with other quality options on the board. The Cubs are only 17th in MLB in road batting in a pitcher’s park, so Madison Bumgarner is a MLB DFS Pitching GPP Play at $9000.

The King’s Top MLB DFS Pitching GPP Plays on DraftKings in order of preference: Sale, Strasburg, Bauer, Bumgarner, Smith, Paddack.

Value Plays: Hudson, Vargas

Top Cash Game Plays: Nola, Paddack, Smith

Monkey Knife Fight Pick of the Day

I will definitely go with the over on Smith when you consider the White Sox are sixth in the American League in strikeouts. But Abreu is hitting .300 in July and .304 at home, so I will take the over on him, too. If you want to cash in on this prop prediction tonight, play it here and get 100 percent bonus.

We had a 16-game slate with a doubleheader in Baltimore for the Orioles-Rays. All points and price tags are based off DraftKings.

Winners

Brad Keller ($6,000)

Brad Keller had an outstanding outing yesterday against the Detroit Tigers, going eight innings and allowed one run on four hits with seven strikeouts and picked up his fifth win on the season.

Keller’s Outlook

Brad Keller threw his best game in his two-year MLB career so far. This was also his most strikeouts in a game since April 12. He was undoubtedly the best pitcher on the slate in terms of performance and value. His next outing is scheduled for Thursday against the White Sox. Expect Keller to have a solid start there and continue putting him in your lineup.

Nick Senzel ($4,600)

Nick Senzel had himself an incredible game at the plate against the Colorado Rockies. He finished 4-for-5 with a double, two triples, a walk and two runs scored. It helped the game was played in Coors Field but Senzel took full advantage of the location.

Senzel’s Outlook

Senzel has a .600 slugging in his previous seven games. He has been on fire and do not expect him to slow down anytime soon as arguably the best leadoff hitter in baseball. The Reds and Rockies continue their series as the Rockies will have Antonio Senzatela on the mound and almost has a walk-to-strikeout ratio of one at Coors Fiel while posting a 1.70 WHIP. All signs point to Senzel to continue his hot streak and being in your DFS lineup on today’s slate.

Losers

Chris Sale ($10,500)

Chris Sale did not have his quality stuff in the World Series rematch against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He went 4.2 innings and allowed five runs on seven hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. He has not been the same pitcher he was a year ago, especially at home. Avoid him while pitching in Boston until he can defeat that narrative.

Sale’s Outlook

Sale has not been one of the best pitchers in baseball at Fenway Park this year as he has been in year’s past. At home this season, he is 0-3 with a 4.76 ERA in nine games. His next outing is Thursday against the Blue Jays in Boston. The Blue Jays have hit him well in the three outings Sale has had against them, so fade Sale on his upcoming slate.

Freddie Freeman ($5,000)

Freeman did not look that good at the plate against the San Diego Padres last night, going hitless in five at-bats with a pair of strikeouts. He is still hitting .302 but has been struggling as of late. Expect him to break out of his slump today with a couple of hits.

Freeman’s Outlook

Freddie Freeman has looked pedestrian at the plate in his past 15 games, posting a .233 batting average with a pair of homers, 7 RBI and 18 strikeouts. That’s a large total since he only has 77 strikeouts on the entire season thus far. The Braves and Padres continue their series today and the Padres are throwing out Cal Quantrill, who has a 4.50 ERA in his previous eight outings. Look for him to have one of the bigger games on the slate today.

Injury Update

Dellin Betances of the New York Yankees is expected to begin throwing on Monday. He hasn’t appeared in a game yet this season while recovering from a right lat strain.

Carlos Correa and Aledmys Diaz are both scheduled to begin their rehab assignments on Monday.

Ken Giles of the Toronto Blue Jays was not available out of the bullpen yesterday due to nerve inflammation from a massage he received during the All-Star break. He is expected to be able to pitch tomorrow if needed.

Scott Engel and Jason Mezrahi get into the full MLB schedule on the 7/13 MLB DFS Podcast. They break down the night slate on FanDuel and DraftKings. There are some tough pitching decisions to make in order to help you get the bats you want, especially at Coors Field.

A lot of Aces in the deck

There are a lot of pitching aces on this main slate. Chris Sale, Aaron Nola, Trevor Bauer, Patrick Corbin and Matt Boyd are all on the mound on a loaded Saturday Night Pitching Slate. Therefore we have to decide if there is any Pitching values so we can fade these top arms. Don’t worry we’ve got you covered, just listen below to the 7/13 MLB DFS Podcast.
