This article discusses a core for DFS players to build around for today’s FanDuel main NBA slate. While there are many different sports and various contests pertaining to DFS along with their respective strategies, we focus on the main approaches to build both reliable cash and GPP lineups for a successful NBA night including pace, the projected over/under, one on one matchups, and a team’s defensive rating. Make sure to stay active when building NBA lineups – if you cannot be in front of a computer, tablet, or on your phone an hour before lock do not throw your money away! NBA DFS lineups can change at the blink of an eye and are the most variable compared to any other sport in DFS; players get injured, some sit for load management, and others find themselves on the DNP list for other reasons; any of which can sway your lineup and where to find value. Stay alert on the WinDaily Discord chat to follow along with our updated plays. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

PointGuard: Markelle Fultz, Orlando Magic ($5,000)

The Orlando Magic play at one of the slowest paces in the league, ranking 27th in the NBA but tonight they find themselves in a pace up spot versus the 5th-fastest team in the league, the Houston Rockets. Markelle Fultz saw a notable usage uptick without Evan Fournier in the lineup, who is out for an extended period of time. Fultz should be able to drive the basket and fill the box score and collect a few steals along the way, taking advantage of the turnover-prone Russell Westbrook, who is third in the NBA with 4.4 turnovers per game.

ShootingGuard: Jimmy Butler, Miami Heat ($8,000)

All season long, we have been attacking the Washington Wizards and rightfully so; this team simply does not play defense. On tonight’s NBA slate, we get a mid-range priced player with stud capabilities in Jimmy Butler. In three games versus Washington this season, Butler has posted a 26.3/8/8.3/0.3/1 scoring line and 50.43 FanDuel points per game. Hit the lock button.

PowerForward: Christian Wood, Detroit Pistons ($7,900)

On the second night of a back-to-back, the Detroit Pistons head over to MSG to face the Knicks. Running on a thin rotation, the Pistons have played Christian Wood over 34 minutes per game over their last eight, where he is averaging over 41 FanDuel points per game. With a heavy usage rate and plenty of minutes, look for Wood to take on Julius Randle all night.

Center:Nikola Vucevic, Orlando Magic ($8,400)

With the Houston Rockets redefining the use of a small-ball lineup, they have become susceptible to opposing centers in the paint. With few viable options available on this NBA slate, Nikola Vucevic has the safest floor of all centers and will put up the most points at the position. Vuc has averaged 50.1 FanDuel points per game over his last three games and will look to keep it rolling tonight.

Gamesto Target

  • OrlandoMagic @ Houston Rockets (233 over/under)
  • MiamiHeat @ Washington Wizards (231.5 over/under)
  • DetroitPistons @ New York Knicks (210.5 over/under)

Isaiah’s Protocol for the NBA DFS slate is built around DraftKings pricing, but is good across the industry with some slight adjustments to salaries on the various sites. I’d like to point out that the players I’m recommending are best used together for cash game purposes. These players are also decent considerations for guaranteed prize pool (GPP) games when used individually with other contrarian type players.

We are looking at a loaded 10 NBA DFS slate tonight. Injury news is abundant tonight so make sure you stay tuned throughout the day for any updates. I like to advise all my readers to join the staff at WinDaily in our Discord chat rooms as we discuss some of the important news of the day and break down some intriguing plays even further.

* Please keep in mind that these plays are for DraftKings pricing. With such a large slate of games, there are certainly players not listed here that I prefer on FanDuel. Check-in with us on WinDaily Discord for different plays on this NBA DFS slate. *

THE GAMES

THE STUDS

Giannis Antetokounmpo ($11200) What can we say here? Giannis has a 38.7% usage rate and scores almost 2 fantasy points (FP) per minute. I expect him to plat close to 36 minutes in what looks to be a competitive game. On paper that’s 72 DraftKings fantasy points (DKFPTS). He scored 64.3 DKFPTS in 32 minutes in his only game verse (vs.) the Lakers this season. L.A.’s ranking 2nd in defensive efficiency (DEFF) could present a problem but the Lakers also rank 20th in (DVA) which is a rank given to the opponent when facing this player’s archetype.

Bradley Beal ($10400) Beal has shot 20+ times in 13 straight games. He’s averaging 8 assists over his last 5 and carries a 1.5 FP/min., thanks to a 38% usage rate and a 26% assist rate. This game has the highest projected total (246 ½), giving Washington the highest implied team total (ITT) (125 ½) on this NBA DFS slate. Guess who’s scoring a majority of those points? Last I checked Beal was only 13% owned on DK.

THE CORE

Anthony Davis ($9800) AD has a 29.3% usage rate and scores 1.48 FP/min. On such a large NBA DFS slate this is the cheapest I’ve seen his salary in weeks. He just had a 70+ DKFPTS performance in his last game vs. Philly and had 65 DKFPTS the last time he saw the Bucks.

Devin Booker ($8400) Booker gets substantial boosts to his usage and assist rates with Ayton and Oubre off the court. He leads the team, shooting 1.23 FP/min. and usually plays 36 to 40 minutes per game. Portland’s defense ranks 27th, they rank 22nd in DEFF overall and 22nd against opposing backcourts. Devin dropped 50 DKFPTS in 37 minutes the last time he faced the Blazers.

Caris LeVert ($7000) LeVert leads the Nets in FP production, usage, and a 27% assist rate since Kyrie was lost for the season. He has a 30% usage rate and scores 1.05 FP/min. on the year. The Spurs rank 23rd in DEFF and 20th in DVA vs. opposing SG’s.

Terrance Ross ($5700) Evan Fournier joins Jonathan Isaac on the list on injured Magic players tonight. I recently had Ross on my DNP list as he constantly burns me. He’s risky for sure but I can’t ignore him anymore. Ross carries a 21.8% usage rate and scores an FP/min for the most part. Across the past 7 contests, Ross is averaging 23.7 points on 16.4 shots, plus 4.7 boards, and 1.6 assists in 30 minutes. He has scored 38, 34, and 31 DKFPTS in the three games since he last saw the Wolves when he dropped 51.25 on them.

THE OTHERS

Lebron James ($10900), Jason Tatum ($10000), Damian Lillard ($9700), Kristaps Porzingis ($9300), Nikola Vucevic ($8900), Domantas Sabonis ($8700), Aaron Gordon ($8600), DeMar DeRozan ($7200), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($7000), T.J. Warren ($6000)(if he plays), Naz Reid ($5800), Dejounte Murray ($5800), Kevin Huerter ($5600), Davis Bertans ($5600), Juancho Hernangomez ($5500), Shabazz Napier ($5100), Trey Lyles ($5100), Wendell Carter Jr. ($5000).

THE PLAYS

*Favorite play of the day*: Bradley Beal ($10400) (see above)

*Chalk of the day I will gladly eat*: Aron Baynes ($3000) At site minimum If Aron starts he’s basically a free square on this NBA DFS slate.

*My sleeper of the day*: Dewayne Dedmon ($3400) Returning from injury, the over-looked, previously starting, a big man should log 20+ minutes vs. this inept frontcourt of the Wizards.

THE VALUE

T.J. McConnell ($4000) I expect T.J. to start for Brogdon tonight just as he has in the last 3 games that Malcolm has missed. A. Holiday just hasn’t produced as well as T.J. Indianapolis has a bunch of players listed as questionable. McConnell’s minutes were pretty stable already and if Brogdon, Oladipo, Warren, and McDermott all miss as well, we can expect T.J. to get 30+. He basically scores an FP/min and gets a match up with a Chicago team that ranks 25th in DEFF against opposing PG’s and just lost their star in Zach LaVine.

Aron Baynes ($3000) I’ve wasted enough time today. Aron is most likely starting for an injured Deandre Ayton. He’s $3000. This means Baynes needs 18 DKFPTS to hit 6X value. He may do that in the first quarter. Lock him in on this NBA DFS slate.

There’s a ton of players to like tonight and I simply don’t have the time to write them all up. I highly encourage all readers to join myself, and the rest of the WinDaily team in the Discord chat rooms as we break down and discuss our favorite plays. Thank you for reading my content and feel free to leave a comment, or hit me up on Twitter @IsaiahsProtocol.
