7/25 MLB DFS Winners

Taylor Clarke ($5,200)

Taylor Clarke had a very good performance on the mound yesterday against the Baltimore Orioles and ended up among our 7/25 MLB DFS Winners. He went six innings and gave up two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and did not allow a walk. Even with the success he had yesterday, fade him in his next start.

Clarke’s Outlook

This was the longest outing for Clarke since May 25. Clarke lowered his ERA on the year to 6.10 in his 12th game. He also has a .293 Batting Average Against which isn’t great. His next outing is scheduled for Tuesday night in the Bronx against the Yankees. Clarke, facing a DH and the Yankees’ powerful lineup, should obviously be passed on.

Mike Tauchman ($4,100)

Mike Tauchman continued his hot hitting in the series finale against the Minnesota Twins. He went 2-for-4 with a double, triple, a pair of RBI and a run. Tauchman is now 11-for-21 (.524) with a 1.505 OPS in his past seven games. He has been on a tear as of late and is a must-have in your lineup for 7/25 MLB DFS.

https://twitter.com/ColeyHarvey/status/1154194049932451840

Tauchman’s Outlook

Tauchman has arguably been the best Yankees hitter in the past few weeks. He is certainly proving his value with the Trade Deadline approaching and the Yankees having excess outfield depth in their system. The Yankees continue their road trip as they are in Boston for a four-game set starting tonight and will be facing Rick Porcello. The Sockman should be in your lineup tonight.

7/25 MLB DFS Losers

Jake Odorizzi ($8,600)

Jake Odorizzi was not able to stop the Yankees’ offense after an incredible performance by them the day before. He went four innings and allowed nine runs on 10 hits with a pair of walks and seven strikeouts. The Yankees and Twins have been slugging it out in their three-game series, but he had one of the weaker performances in the set. Look for Odorizzi to bounce back in his next start after becoming a 7/25 MLB DFS Loser.

Odorizzi’s Outlook

The All-Star pitcher has not been pitching well as of late, he has a 6.98 ERA in his previous eight starts. His next outing is Tuesday evening in Miami against the Marlins. The Marlins rank last in slugging percentage and OPS as a team. They do not pose a huge threat and Odorizzi should be able to bounce back with a quality start.

Alex Bregman ($4,900)

Alex Bregman failed to get on base in his four at-bats yesterday against the Oakland Athletics. He hasn’t been looking like himself at the plate in the month of July, which should make DFS players scratch their heads in confusion. Try your best to find someone else that can provide better value than Alex Bregman in his next game after he ended up a 7/25 MLB DFS Loser.

Bregman’s Outlook

Bregman has been below-average for the past month. In the last 30 games he has appeared in, Bregman is batting .250 with seven HR, 15 RBI and a 23:20 walk-to-strikeout ratio. He is a better hitter than those numbers show. The Houston Astros head to the road and play the St. Louis Cardinals starting tomorrow. They are facing Jack Flaherty, who has failed to pick up a victory since May 14. Look for Bregman to get a hit, but not provide a good enough performance to have him in your DFS lineup.

7/25 MLB DFS Injury Update

The New York Yankees placed Gary Sanchez on the 10-day IL with a sore left groin. The Yankees called up Kyle Higashioka from Triple-A to take over as the backup catcher.

Kris Bryant of the Chicago Cubs left yesterday’s game with right knee soreness. Manager Joe Maddon said he doesn’t know the severity of the injury but believes it to be a cumulative thing.

This report will provide recommended DFS stacks for today’s 10-game main slate. I will also include my favorite pitching picks.

**All plays are listed in order of preference. Please check back between 5-6 PM EST as some players can receive rest days or get limited at bats especially as we get closer we get to the postseason.

Cleveland Indians Stack

vs. LHP Daniel Norris (DET): 6.30 Runs

Daniel Norris takes the mound in Cleveland this evening. He carries a 4.96 ERA, 4.62 FIP, and 4.71 ERA into tonight’s matchup. We get a nice little recipe here with his reverse splits. Left handed batters are slashing to a .367 wOBA, .540 SLG, and .343 OBP across 16 innings pitched. He has allowed 13 runs in that short span. His 40% hard contact rate and 40% pull rate combined with his shakiness to lefties can make for some easy liners to right field. Norris racked up eight strikeouts but gave up six earned runs in his last meeting with Cleveland. Cleveland batters are hitting below their season averages this month, slashing to a .309 wOBA, .154 ISO, and 88 WRC+. These numbers aren’t typically what we look for but they’re in the worst part of their slump and this is a good opportunity to bust out of it.

Preferred Stack: Roberto Perez ($2700 FD|$4100 DK), Jordan Luplow ($2500 FD|$3900 DK), Carlos Santana ($3800 FD|$5000 DK), and Francisco Lindor ($4000 FD|$4900 DK).

Colorado Rockies Stack

vs. RHP Derek Rodriguez (SFG):

Dereck Rodriguez was called up from AAA as the 26th man ahead of today’s doubleheader. He carries a 5.27 ERA, 5.57 FIP, and 5.46 SIERA across 57 innings pitched into tonight’s game. He has struggled both to righties and lefties, allowing a .338 wOBA, .462 SLG, and 46% hard contact rate. The Rockies batting averages are creeping up again on this home stand and should continue to rise this evening. They are slashing to a .349 wOBA, .193 ISO, and .457 SLG against right handed pitching recently and the studs in this lineup are coming off a rest day.

Preferred Stack:Charlie Blackmon ($4800 FD|$5700 DK), Daniel Murphy ($4100 FD|$5200 DK), David Dahl ($4200 FD|$5500 DK), Trevor Story ($4600 FD|$5600 DK), and Nolan Arenado ($4700 FD|$5400 DK).

Every stack report in the industry is going to have the Giants and Rockies. Ownership almost always levitates to Coors, especially when you have Dereck Rodriguez (SFG) and Chi Chi Gonzalez (COL) pitching. Going to be a lot of ownership on both sides here ,so I am not writing up the Giants in detail for that purpose, but I’ve included my preferred stack if you decide to go with the masses tonight.

Preferred Stack: Alex Dickerson ($3800 FD|$4800 DK), Stephen Vogt ($2700 FD|$4300 DK), Evan Longoria ($3500 FD|$5300 DK), Pablo Sandoval ($2900 FD|$4900 DK), Brandon Crawford ($3000 FD|$3900 DK), and Austin Slater ($3600 FD|$5000 DK).

Los Angeles Dodgers Stack

vs. RHP Zach Eflin (PHI): 5.40 Runs

I imagine ownership here will be higher as well. It’s not very often we get the Dodgers so early in the evening. Zach Eflin carries a 3.78 ERA, 4.66 FIP, and 4.70 SIERA into tonight’s matchup. Left handed batters are slashing to a .357 wOBA, .544 SLG, and .333 OBP. He has allowed 22 earned runs and 11 home runs across 43 innings pitched to lefties as well. The only concern I really have with Dodgers batters here is a possible hangover from last night’s game. The Dodgers are slashing .to a 335 wOBA, .209 ISO, and 109 WRC+ vs. right handed pitching over the last month.

Preferred Stack:Max Muncy ($3800 FD|$4600 DK), Alex Verdugo ($3100 FD|$4100 DK), Cody Bellinger ($4800 FD|$5100 DK), and Joc Pederson ($2600 FD|$4200 DK).

Boston Red Sox Stack

vs. RHP Trent Thornton (TOR): 6.25 Runs

The Red Sox get another cupcake matchup against Thornton. They have faced him twice this season, his first outing in Boston when he allowed only two earned runs and a recent second outing in Toronto in which he allowed seven earned runs. This Red Sox team is hitting very well recently. They are slashing .372 wOBA, .254 ISO, and 129 WRC+. I have the same concern with the Red Sox as with the Dodgers. They played late last night but they do get the benefit at being at home. Trent Thornton has a 4.85 ERA, 4.41 FIP, and 4.75 ERA on the year. He has identical splits, allowing batters to slash to a .332 wOBA, .321 BABIP, and .444 SLG.

Preferred Stack: Rafael Devers ($4100 FD|$5500 DK), Xander Bogaerts ($4400 FD|$5300 DK), Mookie Betts ($4200 FD|$4800 DK), and Christian Vazquez ($2900 FD|$4700 DK).

Honorable Mention

Houston Astros vs. RHP Griffin Canning (LAA): 4.90 Runs

Preferred Stack: Alex Bregman ($4200 FD|$4400 DK), Yordan Alvarez ($4300 FD|$4800 DK), Michael Brantley ($3900 FD|$4000 DK), and Yuli Gurriel ($3800 FD|$4200 DK).

Toronto Blue Jays vs. RHP Rick Porcello (BOS): 4.25 Runs

Preferred Stack: Freddy Galvis ($3200 FD|$4300 DK), Cavan Biggio ($3700 FD|$4500 DK), Eric Sogard ($3300 FD|$4700 DK), and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. ($3800 FD|$5300 DK).

Pitching

  1. RHP Adam Plutko vs. DET: 4.20 Runs
  2. RHP Lucas Giolito vs. KCR: 4.40 Runs
  3. LHP James Paxton vs. TAM: 4.00 Runs

Top Stacks

Tampa Bay Rays:

The Baltimore Orioles’ pitching staff is a mess. They own a league-high 5.78 ERA, while also allowing a league-high 172 home runs. And now the pitching staff is coming off a doubleheader on Saturday, so you know it’s going to be ugly today. The Rays, who have scored double-digit runs in two of three already this weekend from Baltimore, are in a great spot to capitalize again today as well as carry your DFS lineups into the green.

Kansas City Royals:

The Tigers’ Jordan Zimmerman will face the Royals on Sunday. Zimmerman owns a 5.34 SIERA and a 5.43 xFIP on the season so he should be no match for the Royals’ offense. The Royals could be a sneaky play on Sunday for your DFS lineups.

Milwaukee Brewers:

The Giants’ Tyler Beede has struggled in 2019. He has a 5.37 SIERA and a 5.24 xFIP this season. The San Francisco pitcher also is allowing a 41.8% hard contact rate and 1.61 HR/9. The Brewers have five regulars in their lineup that have greater than a .200 ISO versus righties. Milwaukee should have no problem putting up runs in this one and helping you win some cash in DFS.

Houston Astros:

The Astros’ offense has come alive in this series against Texas and we should expect more of the same on Sunday. The Rangers’ Ariel Jurado has a 4.73 SIERA and is allowing a 43.5% hard contact rate. Houston’s everyday lineup consists of five players with ISOs over .200 so look for another big day from the Astros’ lineup in this one. Be sure you get an Astros’ stack or two in your DFS lineups.

Los Angeles Angels:

The Angels’ offense has come out blazing here in the second half. And there is no reason to believe that stops today as they face Seattle’s Yusei Kikuchi. The Mariners’ pitcher has a 5.09 SIERA and a low 9.1% swinging-strike rate. He also is allowing 1.74 HR/9. You will want some Angels’ exposure in your DFS entries on Sunday.

Oakland Athletics:

The White Sox’s Reynaldo Lopez is a target for DFS stacking anytime he takes the bump. He has a 5.12 SIERA and is allowing flyballs at a 47.1% clip. The high amount of flyballs has led to him allowing 2.11 HR/9.

Game Stack

Cincinnati Reds @ Colorado Rockies:

Any time Las Vegas pins a 14 on a game total you are going to want some action from that game in your DFS lineup. This one is no different. Target as many Rockies and Reds in your entries as possible.

This report will provide stacks that I recommend for today’s 7 game main slate. I’ve also included my favorite one-offs and value plays.

Houston Astros Stack

vs. LHP Andrew Heaney (LAA): 5.70 Runs

This is a play you’re not going to be able to get away from tonight. Andrew Heaney carries a 5.40 ERA, 5.39 FIP, and 4.20 SIERA through 36.2 innings pitched. Through 27 innings pitched, right handed batters are slashing .319 wOBA, .449 SLG, and to a .304 OBP against Heaney. The Astros have been hitting very well recently, slashing .374 wOBA, .204 ISO, and a .516 SLG. Smaller slate tonight so ownership will be a lot more concentrated on the Astros but it is good chalk and I’m perfectly fine with eating it.

Preferred Stack: (in order of preference) Jose Altuve $3700 FD|$4200 DK, Alex Bregman $4300 FD|$5000 DK, Yordan Alvarez $4100 FD|$4800 DK, Yuli Gurriel $3400|$4400, and Robinson Chirinos $3100 FD|$3800 DK. George Springer ($4400 FD|$5400 DK) is my last choice for higher priced guys but if you’re playing multiple lines I would definitely have exposure.

New York Mets Stack

vs. RHP Jake Arrieta (PHI): 5.00 Runs

I’ve eagerly awaited a solid left handed power hitting team to go against Jake Arrieta since those string of rainouts in Washington a few weeks back. He carries 4.43 ERA, 5.15 FIP, and a 4.85 SIERA into tonight’s game. He is absolutely terrible to left handed batters. They are slashing .383 wOBA, .535 SLG, and to a .386 OBP through 43.0 innings pitched. He has surrendered 27 earned runs and 11 home runs over that same span. The Mets are hitting to a tune of .313 wOBA, .181 ISO, and 101 WRC+ over the last two weeks, slightly above their season averages. Be weary of the weather here tonight.

Preferred Stack:(in order of preference) Jeff McNeil $3600 FD|$4900 DK, Dominic Smith $2600 FD|$4900 DK, Pete Alonso $3600 FD|$4900 DK, Michael Conforto $3500 FD|$4400 DK, and Todd Frazier $3000 FD|$4100 DK.

Oakland Athletics Stack

vs. LHP Marco Gonzales (SEA): 5.15 Runs

Marco Gonzales carries a 4.39 ERA, 4.11 FIP, and 5.14 SIERA into tonight’s game. He has fairly identical splits with a .324 wOBA, .444 SLG, and .327 OBP through 78.1 innings pitched against right handed batters. Most should be focused on that Astros stack and probably spending down for some cheap Cardinals so we have a chance to catch the A’s at low ownership. I didn’t list them, but I know they let down a lot of people last night. The A’s are slashing to a .349 wOBA, .223 ISO, and .499 SLG vs. left handed pitching this season. The team as a whole has been in a bit of a hitting slump over the last two weeks, slashing to a .246 wOBA, .112 ISO, and .303 SLG in that time span. I always feel like Oakland is pretty risky, but I’ll go there in GPPs tonight.

Preferred Stack:(in order of preference) Matt Olson $3400 FD|$4700 DK, Marcus Semien $3700 FD|$4300 DK, Josh Phegley $2600 FD|$4700 DK. Matt Chapman $3800 FD|$4500 DK ,and Ramon Laureano $3000 FD|$4100 DK.

One-offs and Value Plays

Josh Phegley (OAK) $2600 FD| $3700 DK, Robinson Chirinos (HOU) $3100 FD| $3800 DK, Hunter Renfroe (SDP) $2700 FD, Jose Martinez (STL) $2700 FD|$3500 DK, Paul Goldschmidt (STL) $3000 FD|$3400 DK, and Brad Miller (PHI) $2000 FD|$3500 DK.

Joe Musgrove looked better in June and his road numbers reflecta more positive DFS outlook. But he is always prone to a blowup start and couldbe in some danger at Wrigley Field tonight. I would opt for Anthony Rizzo at$4700 on DraftKings and Kyle Schwarber at $4100. Victor Carantini is just $3700if he is in the lineup. Kris Bryant is worth the $4800, as he is hitting .333with two homers and five RBI over the past week. Jayson Heyward (4800) ishitting .304 with three homers and 10 RBI in the past week. I will considerseveral Cubs as DFS GPP plays.

Trent Thornton held down the Red Sox on June 21 in Fenwaybut I do not believe he will do so again at home, seeing Boston again in such ashort time span. Rafael Devers ($4,900) is hitting .556 over the past week andJ.D. Martinez ($4600) is at .529 with two homers and five RBI in that span.Jackie Bradley Jr. is at just $3600 and is hitting .500 over the past week andXander Bogaerts ($4800) is at .357 with two homers and six RBI.  Brock Holt is at $3700 if he is in the lineup.

The Rays will be facing Asher Wojciechwoski, who has not appeared in an MLB game since 2017. He has a 6.64 career MLB ERA. Tampa Bay offers some friendly priced DFS options. Willy Adames ($3900) is hitting .308 with three homers and five RBI over the past week. As noted in our Winners and Losers column today, Kevin Kiermaier ($3700) may be starting to heat up as well. Ji-Man Choi is just $3600 and Brandon Lowe is at $4200 for the lefty/righty split. Yandy Diaz ($4400) is always worth consideration when the Rays are in a spot to fare well.

Zack Wheeler allowed six homers in five June starts with apair of two-HR games, so you should expect him to surrender at least twolongballs against the Yankees. Aaron Judge (4,300) , D.J. LeMahieu ($5300) andDidi Gregorius ($3600) have all homered twice in the past week. Judge andGregorious give you nice DFS exposure to a powerful lineup against an erraticstarter. Their prices are friendly after recent long injury layoffs.

Chase Anderson’s first name is fitting because that whatopposing hitters seem to do to him often this year. He only has lasted past 5.1IP once. The Reds hammered him for six runs on June 21 and should “chase” Andersonagain to your DFS delight. Joey Votto is at just $4100 and is hitting .364 overthe past week. Eugenio Suarez is at a nifty $4200 and is hitting .364 withthree HRs and seven RBI over the past week. Jesse Winker gives you a lefty/rightysplit at $4000, and so does Scooter Gennett at $3900.

Jose Suarez had a 5.57 ERA in four starts earlier this yearand now returns from the minors to face the Rangers. Joey Gallo ($5,500) is ishitting .328 with seven homers and 28 RBI vs. LHPs this year, and Elvis Andrus ($4,600)is at .317 with 12 RBI and 13 runs scored. Both hitters are worth spending upfor in DFS tonight.

The Houston/Colorado game is very stackable in DFS tonight from both sides, as German Marquez is way more hittable at home. Houston prospect Jose Urquidy has pitched pretty well in the minors this season, so I lean to the Astros bats in this one. Yuli Gurriel ($4,100) is hitting .350 over the past week and Alex Bregman ($5,000) has hit .348 over that span, as has Josh Reddick ($4,200). You will have to check on the status of Gurriel, though, as an ankle issue caused him to miss Sunday’s game.

Cleveland stacks will also be popular against Jakob Junis.Jason Kipnis ($3600) and Bobby Bradley ($3300) are some DFS salary saversthere.

Minnesota bats will certainly get consideration againstDaniel Mengden, but the park factor may make it better to steer in some otherdirections tonight when the schedule is so full. Nelson Cruz ($4,900) ishitting .435 with three home runs and 10 RBI over the past week.

Dodgers bats will get DFS play against Taylor Clarke, too,as he saw them just a week ago. Cody Bellinger ($5,700) homered against him andAlex Verdugo is a very good play at $4400.

The Padres have been hot and should tear up Tyler Beede.Spend in DFS for Manny Machado at $5200. Eric Hosmer ($4,600) is at .481 withnine RBI over the past week. If Greg Garcia ($4,300) is in the lineup, he hashit .308 over the past week.

Monkey Knife Fight Pick of the Day

Let’s have some Subway Series fun here. In my DFS hitting outlook for the Yankees above, I indicated that Zack Wheeler could give up at least two homers. So he may not last long enough to go over 6.5 strikeouts. I will take the under. Wheeler lasted 4.2 innings last time he faced the Yanks and finished at six Ks. Paxton had his worst start of the year against the Mets last month, lasting only 2.2 innings with one strikeout. I’ll take the under on both in another high scoring Subway Series affair. Play MLB Props for tonight and get 100 percent bonus!

DFS Hitting Picks and Stacks for Saturday

First Base – Eric Hosmer, San Diego Padres

DraftKings $4,100

Going up against Dakota Hudson in this one is a dream DFS matchup. A pitcher who can’t get lefties out against a left-handed bat who is hot at the plate? I’ll take that all day in DFS.

Second Base – Ketel Marte, Arizona Diamondbacks

DraftKings $5,200

Ketel Marte has been the hottest hitter in baseball over the last couple weeks. Against lefties he is batting .327 with only 12 strikeouts. I’ll ride the hot hand in DFS.

Shortstop – Alex Bregman, Houston Astros

DraftKings $5,100

In his career at Houston against lefties Bregman is a .296 hitter and he’s continuing that trend this season. He also does not strike out against lefties very much so with the ball most likely being put in play, I’ll take my chances in DFS.

Third Base – Anthony Rendon, Washington Nationals

DraftKings $5,200

Anthony Rendon is always a prime DFS play against a lefty. He gets a horrid pitcher in Soto, I’m all in here.

Outfield – Ronald Acuna Jr., Atlanta Braves

DraftKings $5,300

So far in Acuna’s young career he has been exceptional against left-handed pitchers (.308 BA). Matz tends to be on his game or horrible, I’ll lean with the latter and take Acuna

Outfield – Chad Pinder, Oakland Athletics

DraftKings $3,400

Chad Pinder is always worth a DFS look against an average lefty. So far this season he is batting .286 with five home runs against southpaws.

DFS Stacks for Saturday

1.) Washington Nationals

I am an avid Gregory Soto stacker. Every time this man pitches it’s an easy DFS stack and load em’ up situation for me. He is carrying a 4.50 ERA at home and a .350 BAA against righties. As mentioned above, Anthony Rendon is a smash play. I also love Juan Soto and Victor Robles in this one. I think the Nationals get to Soto early and run him out of Detroit.

2.) Houston Astros

Yusei Kikuchi has not been what the Mariners were predicting he would be thus far. His strikeout numbers are depleted and that hurts him because this Astros team just does not strike out. He’s going to be in store for a very rough afternoon.

We had a full 15 game DFS slate on Tuesday, June 25th. Max Scherzer was the obvious top pitcher on the day and performed as such, but there were some lesser known players who performed great as well. Points and salaries are based on DraftKings.

Sign up NOW for WIN DAILY Premium Gold here. Projections, weather reports, wagering info, 24/7 expert chats and more.

Winners

Jesse Chavez ($5,300)

Chavez was one of the lowest priced pitchers on the slate Tuesday and gave us humungous DFS value. Chavez and the Rangers visited the Detroit Tigers and he pitched a brilliant 6.1 innings. He gave up only five hits and struck out seven while getting the win. He scored 29.25 DFS points. Chavez has worked mainly out of the bullpen this season and sports a 2.79 ERA to go with his WHIP of 1.22. His K/9 is now at 8.37. Chavez now has a record of 3-2.

Chavez’s Outlook

Chavez’s next projected start will come on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, June 30th. This could be another spot to target the low priced Chavez in DFS as the Rays have not fared too well lately. In the month of June, the Rays rank 21st in runs scored and average only 4.39 runs per game. They rank even worse in team OPS and that is at .727. To add even more upside to this matchup, the Rays have struck out 203 times in June, fifth worst in the league. Chavez will be a great money saving Doption in DFS with this matchup.

Alex Bregman ($4,600)

Although some may see this as an obvious name, Alex Bregman has been in a slump as shown with his June totals. Going into Tuesday, Bregman had a June batting average of just .240 to go with an OPS of .817. He had hit four home runs and only two other extra base hits, both doubles. Only one of his last 15 games ended with a multi hit performance. Bregman may have started his bounce back Tuesday after going 3-for-4 with a home run and a double. He added three runs scored to go with his one RBI. This gave him 26 fantasy points in DraftKings DFS.

Bregman’s Outlook

Bregman and the Astros have two more home games against the Pirates on Wednesday and Thursday. Pittsburgh’s pitching staff has struggled all year and has been even worse lately. They have a team ERA of 5.08 on the year and 5.65 in the month of June. Both of these stats rank outside the Top 25. They then host the Mariners, who rank even worse than the Pirates, both overall and in the month of June in team ERA. After that the Astros go to Coors Field for a two game stretch. This next week is setting up great for Bregman and the Astros offense. Springer is also back in the lineup, which will only help Bregman’s DFS value.

Mitch Garver ($5,000)

Garver and the Minnesota Twins offense stayed hot Tuesday, beating the Tampa Bay Rays 9-4. Garver, batting in the two spot, had a nice game, going 3-for-5. He hit a home run, scored two times, and had three RBI. Garver missed a large part of the season in May, but when he has been in the lineup he has been electric for DFS purposes. He now has a batting average of .305 to go with a monster OPS of 1.038. He has hit 12 home runs and has 31 RBI in only 39 games.

Garver’s Outlook

Garver and the Twins have two more home games against the Rays before heading to Chicago for a three game set with the White Sox. The Rays have had a great pitching staff all year and although they haven’t been as top notch lately, they have still pitched well. They rank number one in team ERA on the season and ninth in the league in the month of June. Garver should put up bigger DFS numbers when he matches up with the White Sox. The Sox pitching staff ranks 21st in team ERA at 5.22. He is worth a DFS contrarian look against the Rays but worth a harder look against the White Sox.

Losers

Blake Snell ($9,000)

Snell had his second consecutive horrid start on Tuesday. He was only able to get through 3.1 innings while giving up seven earned runs and 11 hits. He also walked one while getting four strikeouts. Snell’s ERA has skyrocketed over his last two starts and is now above five. His WHIP has also risen to 1.34. His strikeout numbers are still there with a K/9 of 11.96, which will keep him as an intriguing DFS player. Snell has now given up 13 earned runs on 13 hits over his past 3.1 innings.

Snell’s Outlook

Snell’s next projected start will come against the Texas Rangers, at home, on Sunday, June 30th. Texas has had a good offense all year. They rank fifth in runs scored and have stayed constant in that stat, ranking sixth in June. On the contrary, they also strike out a ton. They have the second most strikeouts in the league this year and the most in the month of June. This is going to be one of the biggest risk-reward DFS spots of the season for Snell. He has been awful lately and should be low owned but the strikeout upside is immense in this spot. Approach with caution here in DFS, but he still has a very high ceiling.

Trevor Richards ($8,000)

Trevor Richards and the Miami Marlins hosted the Nationals Tuesday and lost 6-1. Richards was able to get through five innings but gave up six earned runs on seven hits and and two walks. He gave up one home run and struck out three. Richards’ ERA is now at 3.94 and his WHIP is at 1.28. His K/9 is a bit low and sits at 8.09.

Richards’ Outlook

Richards’ next projected start will come at home against the Phillies on Sunday, June 30th. The Phillies have an average offense but have been relatively bad lately. In the month of June, the Phillies rank 24th in runs scored and average 4.24 per game. The Phillies have avoided the strikeout very well and average only 7.5 per game. This combination adds up to a low upside start for Richards, which will cause me to stay away in DFS.

Injury Report

Tim Anderson left Tuesday’s game with an ankle injury. His X-rays came back negative and he will be someone to keep an eye on in the short term.

Max Kepler left the game after being hit in the elbow by a pitch.

Top Stacks

Texas Rangers:

When the temperatures are hot in Texas, you want to get Rangers’ bats in your DFS lineups. And today is no different, especially with the White Sox’s Ivan Nova on the bump. The Chicago’ right-hander has a 5.04 SIERA and a 4.73 xFIP this season. With Nova allowing a 43% hard contact rate in 2019, expect the Rangers to take advantage of the hot temps and put the heat on Chicago’s Nova.

Atlanta Braves:

The Braves’ offense comes in red hot. Over their last seven games, the Braves have pounded out 13 home runs. In that span, they have a .244 ISO and a .385 wOBA. The Nationals’ Joe Ross doesn’t seem likely to slow them down any today. The Washington starter has a 6.04 xFIP and a 5.02 SIERA this season.

Los Angeles Dodgers:

The Dodgers have crushed right-handed pitching all season. As an offense, Los Angeles has a .211 ISO and a .344 wOBA against righties. The Rockies’ Antonio Senzatela should be no match for the Dodgers. The Colorado pitcher is not missing any bats this season with a slate low 6.9% swinging strike rate. The Dodgers should put plenty of balls in play with success on Sunday.

Value Stacks

Chicago White Sox:

The Rangers’ Adrian Sampson is allowing a flyball 41.6% of the time. He also is allowing a 46.3% hard contact rate in 2019. Combine the flyballs, with hard contact and mix it into 90+ degree weather and that is a recipe for trouble. The White Sox should feast of this recipe and do it at a discount.

First Base

Joey Votto, MIL vs. CIN

DK ($4,000)   FD ($3,100)

Votto has a solid matchup against Jimmy Nelson tonight in Miller Park, a great hitters park. Votto is batting .346 with two home runs in 32 at-bats against Nelson. Nelson has a 10.29 ERA and has allowed at least four earned with four hits in each of his two starts this season. Nelson allows lefties to hit .333 but these sample sizes are very small at only 18 total at-bats. Miller Park is ranked ninth in home runs allowed with 1.226 HR/game. Also, Milwaukee’s bullpen is allowing a 4.23 ERA on the season. The Reds are slight underdogs but the under/over is high at 9.5. Feel free to roster other Reds including: Puig and Dietrich.

Second Base

Whit Merrifield , MIN vs. KC

DK ($4,900)   FD ($4,000)

Whit Merrifield is batting .538 with three homers in 14 at-bats against Odorizzi. We have a high 9,5 under/over and Orodizzi has been struggling as of late, allowing four earned over six innings pitched to the Red Sox. Odorizzi has faced K.C. in one prior start this season where he allowed a .292 team BA and a 6.00 ERA. Merrifield and Kike Hernandez, two second basemen who are also OF eligible (depending on the site), are my first two locks of the day.

Third Base

Nolan Arenado, COL vs. ARI *Early*

DK ($5,100)   FD ($4,200)

I’m including this sentence in two spots in this article because it is so important! Colorado kills Ray. The Rockies own a .337 team BA in 191 at-bats. The batters with the most impressive stats are easily Blackmon, Desmond, and Arenado. These players are batting a combined 38-for-90 with eight home runs in 90 at-bats. The Rockies tore up a solid matchup last night fagainst Greinke, how do you think they’ll fare today against a pitcher they have demolished in the past and who comes into this game struggling over the past month with a 4.85 ERA over his last five starts? In those starts, he’s allowed five home runs. It is clear the long ball has been a problem for him as of late and I don’t expect anything to change against an on-fire Rockies team in a great hitting environment in Chase Field.

Shortstop

Alex Bregman, HOU vs. NYY

DK ($4,500)   FD ($4,300)

Now that Bregman is eligible at both SS and 3B, I’ve been rostering him a little more in my GPP lineups, as he always carries upside. And tonight in Yankee Stadium, I love Bregman against Chad Green and the Yankees bullpen. Green is allowing a 7.65 ERA on the year and righties are killing him! Right-handed batters are hitting .364 with four home runs in 55 at-bats. Can Green and Yankee Stadium hold Alex Bregman?.I think not. Beware of weather though. Good thing we have the best DFS weatherman in the business here.

Other option: Trevor Story *Early*

Outfield

Kike Hernandez, LAD vs. SF

DK ($3,400)   FD ($3,000)

Let’s roster Kike Hernandez against Madison Bumgarner in Los Angeles tonight. Kike went 0-5 in a beautiful leadoff spot last night where he was fairly high owned. Disappointing for sure, but today’s a new day and I do expect him to lead off against despite his hitless efforts last night. Hernandez owns a .500 BA with six doubles and four home runs in 49 at-bats against Bumgarner. The under/over is low but the Dodgers are favored by -180. Expect some small ball, even a stolen base potentially. Regardless of how they do it, Kike will be a crucial piece in the Dodgers beating Bumgarner tonight. Bumgarner has already seen the Dodgers three times this season and owns them with a 0.95 ERA but has gone 0-2 due to no run support. Don’t stack the Dodgers but Hernandez is a viable play at such cheap pricing.

Charlie Blackmon, COL vs. ARI *Early*

DK ($3,400)   FD ($5,500)

Colorado kills Ray. The Rockies own a .337 team BA in 191 at-bats. The batters with the most impressive stats are easily, Blackmon, Desmond, and Arenado. These players are batting a combined 38 for 90 with eight home runs in 90 at-bats. Lock and load this stack please and thank you. You won’t regret it. The Rockies are underdogs by -160 with a 9 under/over.

Other Option: Justin Upton

Monkey Knife Fight Pick of the Day:

Early slate MKF game, you know what that means. No work gets done today, we’ll all be checking our phones every two minutes for the updates on the Colorado Rockies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks game. We’re going to go with game flow, making four of these five picks pretty simple. For the back three including: Story, Blackmon and Arenado, we’re going with the OVER. I do think this will be a seven+ run effort by the Rockies and consequently Robbie Ray at 6.5 strikeouts seems a little high. Especially since the Rockies have only struck out 48 times over their last six games, ranking them eighth lowest in the league. The Rockies are seeing the ball well and Robbie Ray WILL have a tough time against them today in a hitter’s park.

The last prop is tough. Jeff Hoffman at 3.5 strikeouts isn’t an easy call but consider the Diamondbacks have the third least strikeouts over the past week and rank 14th in the league with 644 strikeouts. We’re going with the UNDER. This is clearly not the strikeout prone Arizona offense we’ve come to know from past seasons. They are seeing the ball well and Hoffman should have a tough day. So, To be clear, from left to right: UNDER, UNDER, OVER, OVER, OVER. And for the record, I do think Trevor Story plays. Get in on this game and get 100 percent bonus!

Balls will certainly be put in play by the Diamondbacksagainst Marcus Stroman. Jarrod Dyson ($4500 on DraftKings) is hitting .328 with13 runs scored and four steals in road games. David Peralta is hitting .320with 15 RBI and 14 runs on the road.

We should definitely be picking on Brett Anderson with someTexas bats. Logan Forsythe (4300) is hitting .349 with 18 RBI against LHPs.Elvis Andrus (4700) is hitting .317 with six steals and 15 RBI against lefties.Nomar Mazara (4500) is hitting .307 with 16 runs scored vs. lefties. RougnedOdor is worth the 3600 play as well.

Baltimore will be rolling out Gabriel Ynoa to start and itwill be a good opportunity to load some Astros bats in against him and theOrioles bullpen. Michael Brantley is hitting .351 with 17 RBI and 18 runsscored in home games. Alex Bregman is hitting .293 with six homers, 18 RBI and18 runs scored at home. Robinson Chirinos has 14 RBI and 13 runs scored in homegames.

Milwaukee bats are a must against Rookie Davis. ChristianYelich is hitting .424 with 18 homers and 36 RBI at home and is the obviousplay, but you do have to spend 6000 to get him. Mike Moustakas (5100) has ninehomers and 18 RBI at home  YasmaniGrandal (4900) has five homers, 12 RBI and 16 runs scored at home.

Ivan Nova and his 9.39 road ERA is definitely something to take advantage of. Adalberto Mondesi (5500) is hitting .302 with 15 steals at home. Alex Gordon (4800) is obviously a strong play as well and consider sliding in any other Royals bats you can to complement your stacks. I would take Nicky Lopez as a 3200 salary saver play.

You can also consider some Padres against Washington’s ErickFedde. Hunter Renfroe is worth the 5000 as he has 18 of his homers and 35 RBIagainst RHPs. Franmil Reyes has 19 homers and 32 RBI vs. righties.
