Premier League is Back! EPL Picks for Saturday’s Week 1

The moment we’ve been waiting for all summer is here: the Premier League is back. So far, we’ve had a few international tournaments to keep some soccer DFS alive during the EPL break, but this Saturday is a 5 game slate that looks pretty interesting. Keep in mind: this is Week 1 of the EPL season and the transfer deadline day was this week. EPL Game Breakdowns:

Bournemouth vs Sheffield United – Newly promoted Sheffield United gets to face a feisty Bournemouth squad who hasn’t really lost anyone this summer, but added a great player in Billing. Sheffield have added some key EPL players, and even added an experienced defender in Jagielka. This should be a match where Bournemouth wins in the 2-0, or 3-1 range, and I am targeting Callum Wilson, and Ryan Fraser for Bournemouth. Sheffield defenders are all in play for me as they will receive the bulk of the defending duties, and I can even see myself taking a look at a Bournemouth goalie.Burnley vs Southampton – Both EPL teams had a rather mediocre season last year, and didn’t do too much in the summer. Burnley acquired Danny Drinkwater on loan from Chelsea, and Southhampton’s star signing was Danny Ings from Liverpool, who saw time there last year. I fully expect this game to be low scoring, so for DFS purposes, I am avoiding it in the offensive scheme of things. However, I like defenders Tarkowski for Burnley, and Vestergaard for Southampton.Crystal Palace vs Everton – Everton made EPL news late with the acquisition of Iwobi from Arsenal for FORTY million pounds. A ridiculous fee, but Everton fill a void. This game could’ve been made awkward if they acquired Wilfried Zaha, who attempted to push a move to Everton, but Crystal Palace didn’t budge. Zaha is fit to play, so I am not looking specifically at him, but at Luka Milivojevic. Palace has some key players missing in the back, so you will be able to get defenders on Crystal Palace for cheap like Dann and Joel Ward.  Everton boasts a strong attack, and I will look at guys like Calvert-Lewin and Sigurdsson in this game from Everton.Watford vs Brighton – You won’t see it very much on the Vegas EPL lines, but Watford are favorites in this game and I think they put up some goals. Troy Deeney, the captain, is always a cheap striker you can target, as well as Deulofeu, who will likely be in some of my GPP lines. If you want to pay up for a defender who gives you lots of offensive upside, Holebas is your man.Tottenham vs Aston Villa – Tottenham will be the EPL stack of the day. Lloris in net is set to be very popular, as will the likes of Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen. Tottenham made some moves and acquired Ndombele, who will likely play Saturday, but I’m looking to see how he plays in the side before hopping on that train. Aston Villa will be defending heavily, and their defenders are priced kind of low on both sites. Their starting XI is up in the air at this point, but I would focus on playing Targett and El Mohamady if you can afford them.I cannot stress this enough: wake up at 9:00 ET to acquire the EPL starting lineups. This week is difficult as it is Week 1. I typically look at team’s main Twitter pages for lineups to ensure my players are starting.
