NHLPremium NHL DFS Goalies and Stacks for DraftKings and FanDuel (Mar. 15) Joel Bartilotta 7 months ago written by Joel Bartilotta Welcome to Wednesday's edition of Between the Benches. After a massive 12-game slate last night, we're back to a small 4-game slate of NHL DFS tonight. We have 1 marquee matchup tonight between the Maple Leafs and Avalance. After that, we have some mismatches that we should hopefully be able to take advantage of. Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money. NHL DFS Goaltending John Gibson vs. New York Islanders – John Gibson won't win a Vezina tropy any time soon, but he's been extremely servicable this season as an NHL DFS goalie. He checks off multiple boxes that we like to see. He's cheap and faces a ton of shots. He'll also face off against an Islanders team that isn't scoring much right now. Over the last 2 weeks, the Islanders are scoring just 2.5 goals per game. That number is the lost mark of any team playing tonight. Gibby is a risk, but he's cheap and will face lots of shots. I'm willing to take on that risk tonight. Marc-... 7 months ago 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail
NHLPremium NHL DFS Goalies and Stacks for DraftKings and FanDuel (Mar. 8) Joel Bartilotta 7 months ago written by Joel Bartilotta Welcome to Wednesday's edition of Between the Benches. After a few days of some really nice-sized slates, tonight we're stuck with just a 3-game slate of NHL DFS. To make matters worse, only 2 of the 6 teams playing tonight have any hope of making the playoffs. That said, we should see some decent hockey tonight and the sloppiness of the bad teams may make for a high-scoring affair. Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money. NHL DFS Goaltending Petr Mrazek vs. Detroit Red Wings – I've been riding good ole Petr Mrazek quite a bit over the last couple of weeks. Although it hasn't always worked out, he's been extremely cheap and has rarely thrown out a complete dud. Since the start of February, he's been in single-digit DK points just 4 times in 9 starts. So more than 50% of the time, we've been able to get into the double-digit DK point area. Considering he's only $7k, I'm willing to take that risk. Especially considering the Red Wings are ... 7 months ago 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail
NHLPremium NHL DFS Goalies and Stacks for DraftKings and FanDuel (Mar. 1) Joel Bartilotta 7 months ago written by Joel Bartilotta Welcome to Wednesday's edition of Between the Benches. On this first day of March, the NHL has blessed us with a 6-game slate of NHL DFS. That's way more than we are used to on a Wednesday and this is a solid-looking slate. We'll want to keep an eye on lines as we get closer to puck drop as trades are happening and things can change in an instant. Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money. NHL DFS Goaltending Connor Ingram ($6.9K DK/$7.2k FD) vs. Dallas Stars – I'm willing to go risky with my goalie tonight, especially in this Coyotes/Stars game. The Dallas offense has not been good. Over the last 2 weeks, they're scoring just over 2 goals per game. With the number of shots that Arizona gives up plus the low shooting % of the Stars right now, there's a ton of upside in playing Ingram tonight. At his price point, we don't need much to return value and he should be able to do it with ease. Frederik Andersen ($7.8k DK/$8.2k FD) vs. ... 7 months ago 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail
NHLPremium NHL DFS Goalies and Stacks for DraftKings and FanDuel (Jan. 19) Joel Bartilotta 8 months ago written by Joel Bartilotta Welcome to Thursday's edition of Between the Benches. We have a ginormous 13-game slate of NHL DFS tonight. We have some marquis games (NYR/Bos, NJD/Sea, Tor/Edm) and we also have some really attachable games. Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money. NHL DFS Goaltending Sam Montembeault ($6.9K DK/$7.2k FD) vs. Florida Panthers – I really hope the Canadiens go here tonight with Montembeault because the price is extremely appealing and he's been playing some amazing goalie recently. Over his last 5 games, he's had no less than 18 DK points in any game. He hasn't been playing bad teams either. He's beaten the Winnipeg and New York in back to back games. He's extremely risky so play him in GPP only formats, but he's extremely hot right now and I'm going to continue to ride this wave until it crashes. I just hope it's not tonight! John Gibson ($7.2k DK/$6.7k FD) vs. Columbus Blue Jackets– You'll notice a trend that I'm p... 8 months ago 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail
NHLPremium NHL DFS Goalies and Stacks for DraftKings and FanDuel (Nov. 23) Joel Bartilotta 10 months ago written by Joel Bartilotta Welcome to Wednesday’s edition of Between the Benches. We have a massive 15-game slate tonight leading into a day off for everyone tomorrow thanks to the Thanksgiving holiday. We’ll have plenty of options tonight for offense. Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money. NHL DFS Goaltending Antti Ranta ($8.6K DK/$6.7k FD) vs. Arizona Coyotes – If you’re playing on FD tonight, Ranta is just about a must-play in all formats at that price. The Hurricanes are massive favorites tonight vs. a Coyotes team that is really struggling to put the puck in the net. Over their last 5 games, the Coyotes have scored just 9 goals for an average of fewer than 2 goals per game. Ranta has been a bit better than average this season with a 2.54 GAA and a .902 save percentage. I’m going to ignore his last 2 outings due to both being against the powerhouse offense of the Colorado Avalanche. With the Hurricanes being such he... 10 months ago 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail
NHLPremium NHL DFS The Saturday Slapshot (Oct. 22) Joel Bartilotta 11 months ago written by Joel Bartilotta Welcome to this week’s edition of the Saturday Slapshot. I’ll be focusing on tonight’s nice-sized 9-game main slate of NHL DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel. We’re now a couple of weeks into the 2022/2023 season and trends are somewhat becoming clearer. We have some lopsided matchups tonight that we’ll hopefully be able to take full advantage of. Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money. NHL DFS Goaltending Tristan Jarry ($8.4K DK/$8.6k FD) vs. Columbus Blue Jackets – This is a little bit more than I normally like to spend on my goalie, but you have to love the spot for Tristan Jarry tonight. Through 3 games so far this season, Jarry’s play has been exceptional. So far in this young year, he’s sporting a 1.68 GAA and a .952 save %. While that high of a save % is probably not sustainable, the matchup tonight is a good one for him. The Blue Jackets' offense has yet to really click on all cylinders and... 11 months ago 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail
NHL NHL DFS The Saturday Slapshot (Mar. 5) Joel Bartilotta 2 years ago written by Joel Bartilotta Over the last month or so we’ve started to see smaller Saturday night slates. Tonight is no exception as we have ourselves a nice-sized 6 game slate of NHL DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel. Tonight we should see some fresh legs as only the Columbus Blue Jackets are playing on the back end of back-to-backs. Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money. Goaltending Juuse Saros ($7.9K DK/$8.1k FD) vs. San Jose Sharks – If you look at Saros’ recent game logs, you’ll see someone that has been extremely inconsistent. Over the last couple of weeks, he’s had as many as 21 DK points vs. the Stars and as little as 3.5 vs. the Hurricanes. The matchup tonight should be on the “easier” side as the Sharks have been abysmal of late. Over the last month, they’ve been scoring just 2 goals per game. Their offense has essentially vanished and has been one of the worst in the NHL. The Predator’s propensity to give up shots and the Sharks’ inability to score goals of late has me loving this bounce-back match-up for Saros. He’s under that $8k threshold on DK tonight so we won’t be paying a premium. And we don’t like having to pay premiums on goalies. Vitek Vanacek ($8.2k DK/$7.6k FD) vs. Seattle Kraken – Yes, the Kraken put a larger than normal number for them Wednesday night when they scored 4 goals vs. Saros and the Predators. That’s essentially their weeks’ worth of goals so we should be good to use a goalie against them tonight. Over the last month, the Kraken are averaging just 2.30 goals per game. They have an extremely weak offense. Tonight, we’re going to use Vanacek against them. In a small sample size in the NHL this season, he’s shown some serious upside. He has multiple games over 30 DK points. Should he get the start tonight, I’m all in on him. Whoever starts for the Capitals tonight should be in your pool of goalies. Stacks Washington 1 (Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Wilson) + Carlson vs. Seattle I haven’t used Ovechkin in quite some time when playing NHL DFS. He’s been priced to a point where his production was leaving little value. That said, he’s as cheap as you’ll ever see him. For the first time since the start of the year, he’s priced under $8k on DK at just $7.7k. That’s a steal. I’m sure it will lead to him being more popular tonight, but at that price it’s hard to fade with the upside that he presents us. While he has only 2 goals over his last 5, he’s been showing some signs of life as he has 14 scoring chances over that period. I plan on pairing him with Kuznetsov tonight, who’s also reasonably priced at just $5.3k. Kuz is right behind Ovie with 13 scoring chances over his last 5 games. Seattle’s giving up 4 goals per game over the last month. This line should do well tonight. Boston 1 (Bergeron, Marchand, Debrusk) vs. Columbus I highlighted above that Columbus is on the tail end of a back to back. Even if they were rested, I would have attacked them. With them likely having tired legs, it makes me want to attack them even more. My priority with the Bruins tonight will be Debrusk at just $3.6k. He’s been one of the hottest players in the NHL over the last couple of weeks with 5 goals in his last 5 games. While he’s quieted down a bit over his last 2 games, love the upside in him tonight against a team that is giving up almost 38 shots per game over the last month. I normally stick with 2 man stacks and my lean right now is to pair him with Marchand over Bergeron. Marchand has a slight edge in scoring chances and that’s what we covet, scoring chances. Edmonton 2 (Draisaitl, Kane, Yamamoto) vs. Montreal Montreal has been a much better team since Martin St. Louis took over the realms. That said, it’s still the same personnel that played poorly all throughout the first half of the NHL season. I’m siding with Edm 2 tonight over Edm 1 because we get about a $1,500 savings going down to Draisaitl from McDavid. Draisaitl has been showing some signs of life recently. He has back-to-back games with multiple points and 3 goals and 8 points over his last 5. At just $7.4k tonight we’re getting him at a huge discount from where he was about a month ago. My plan is to pair him with Kane tonight. The 2 have played fairly well together as they’ve combined for 12 points over their last 5 games. The Oilers should face Montembeault tonight. After a solid stretch of 6 games, he came back down to earth against the Jets on Tuesday giving up 7 goals. While I don’t’ see him giving up 7 tonight, the Oilers should surpass the 4 goals Vegas currently has them at. I also love Toronto tonight, but the Matthews line has absolutely burned me the last 2 games. I’m a little gun shy going back to them tonight. Other stacks (Van 1, Tor 1, CBJ 1, Bos 2, Mon 1 and 2, Edm 1) Top Defenseman Brandon Carlo – $2.9k on DK – Has 12 blocked shots and 13 shots over his last 5. Averaging 5 shots + blocks over that stretch. He presents us with a ton of value if his play continues. Martin Fehervary – $2.6k on DK – Has 11 blocks over his last 5. Doesn’t get the same shot volume, but he’s dirt cheap and is in a great environment tonight. Cale Makar – 8 assists and 20 shots over his 5. One of the top offensive defenseman in the league. Expensive though. Devon Toews – 2 goals and 5 assists over his last 5. Colorado has done a great job getting offensive defenseman. Tyler Myers – 13 blocks and 10 shots over his last 5. Just $3.7k on DK. Great Value. Travis Hamonic – $4.4k on DK. Average over 4.5 shots + blocks over his last 5. Also a great value. Vegas Love the over on the Canucks 2.5 goals tonight. While Toronto is a high-powered offense, they’re also poor defensively. They’re giving up 3.75 goals per game over the last month. Campbell has given up 14 goals in his last 3 games. Canucks should put up at least 3 goals tonight. Summary Tonight’s the type of night where we have some high upside guys really priced down in Ovechkin and Draisaitl. In my early builds, I have them continue to be my core 2 and surrounding them with at least one of their teammates. With Defenseman tonight, I’m going strictly value. There are 2 guys under $3k tonight on DK that have been giving us shots and blocks on a consistent basis. They’ll give us a ton of salary savings. Make sure to use our optimizer when setting lineups. NHL NHL DFS The Saturday Slapshot for DraftKings and FanDuel (Dec. 11) Joel Bartilotta 2 years ago written by Joel Bartilotta Welcome to the Saturday Slapshot. I’m Jared and I’ll be your host. Tonight we have a massive 11 game slate where I’ll be highlighting some of my top plays for tonight’s NHL slate on Fanduel and Draftkings. Before we dive in I want to highlight some terms you’ll see in my article that may be foreign to you: Corsi – Any shot attempt (goals, shots on net, misses and blocks) outside of the shootout Even Strength – Play where both teams have the same number of players (including goalies) on the ice. Includes 5v5, 4v4, 3v3 Power Play – Play where the team has more players on the ice than their opponent due to penalties. Includes 5v4, 5v3, 4v3 Penalty Kill – Play where the team has fewer players on the ice than their opponent due to penalties. Includes 4v5, 3v4, 3v5 Goaltending Cam Talbot ($7.9k DK/$8.3k FD) vs. Los Angeles Kings – Love the spot tonight for Talbot if he gets the nod. He’s been extremely solid during his recent stretch of hockey. Over his last 7 starts he’s gotten to the 20 point DK mark 5 times. During that stretch he’s played some extremely solid offenses in the Oilers and Maple Leafs. Tonight’s match up against the Kings should be a much easier task. Kings take a ton of shots but have a sub 10% shooting percentage. Lots of shots + low shooting % means high upside. Talbot is my favorite goalie of the night. Especially on DK where his price is below 8k. Ilya Sorokin ($8k DK/$8.2k FD) vs. New Jersey Devils – Islanders are big favorites tonight against the Devils. Devils haven’t been scoring too many goals of late. Over their last 7 games they’ve been scoring less than 3 goals per game while taking more than 30 shots per game. That means there are some saves to be had against the Devils. Sorokin has hit at least 30 saves in 6 out of his last 7 games. He should make it 7 of 8 tonight against a team that lacks a solid scoring threat. Tonight is another Saturday night where goaltending is a train wreck. There are a ton of teams that are on the back end of back to backs tonight and that means we have mostly back up goalies, but at starting prices. I will more than likely stick with Talbot and maybe use Sorokin. Stacks Washington 1 (Ovechkin/Kuznetsov/Wilson) + Carlson vs. Buffalo Sabres When it comes to attacking specific teams, the Buffalo Sabres are almost at the very top of the list. Sabres are currently riding a 6 game losing streak and tonight should make it 7. Defensively, they are one of the worst in the business. Over their current losing streak they are giving up an outstanding 4.5 goals per game. That’s even after giving up just 2 to my Rangers last night. I expect the Capitals to come out firing after losing a tough one to the Penguins last night. With the Capitals it all starts with Ovechkin. Yes, Ovechkin only has 1 goal over his last 5 games but he also has five helpers during that stretch. He also has an insane iCF of 47. On tonight’s slate only Pastrnak has a higher number. Look for Ovechkin to explode out of his mini slump tonight. You’ll want to make sure you pair him with at least Kuznetsov or Carlson. They are expensive but are in a great spot tonight. St. Louis 2 (Tarasenko/Buchnevich/Barbashev) + Scandella vs. Montreal Canadiens In this game we have 2 teams going in opposite directions. The Canadiens are 1-4-1 in their last 6 while the Blues are 4-1-1. While both teams have struggled defensively of late, I’m going to side with the Blues in this matchup because they just have more talent. Both teams have corsi’s of just 44% over the past 2 weeks so we know both teams are going to give up some shots. Blues are giving up 36 shots per game while the Canadiens are giving up 37. While I love Tarasenko, it’s actually been his line mates that have been putting up the numbers. Both Buchnevich and Barbashev have 5 points over their past 5 games. They are also incredibly cheap on DK tonight and will help us fit the expensive stack above. I absolutely do not mind if you pair them with Tarasenko tonight, but those two will be my priority. Seattle 1 (Wennberg/Schwartz/Eberle) + Giordano vs. Columbus Blue Jackets Seattle has been playing much better hockey of late. Over their past 6 games they are 3-2-1. They are also a much better team at home than on the road and guess what? They’re on home ice tonight. Over their past 7 games the Blue Jackets have been extremely poor on the defensive front. They are just giving up way too many high danger chances to be successful. During that 7 game stretch of hockey they are giving up over 14 high danger chances per game and 4 goals per game. That just screams attack to me. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do. My priority with this stack will be Wennberg and Eberle as the two play together on the top power play unit for Seattle. This is my riskier stack, but they are in a great spot tonight and I’m looking to take advantage of it. I didn’t write up Anaheim as one of my top 3 stacks, but I absolutely love them tonight if Casey DeSmith is between the pipes. He’s awful and is always stackable against. Other stacks (Both top lines for Edmonton, Tor 1, Min 1 or 2, Anaheim 1, Bos 1) Top Defenseman Morgan Rielly – Toronto Maple Leafs (9 points in 5 games) Seth Jones – Chicago Blackhawks Kris Letang – Pittsburgh Penguins Erik Karlsson – San Jose Sharks Evan Bouchard – Edmonton Oilers Mark Giordano – Seattle Kraken Summary I mentioned it in my goalie section that we’ll see a lot of back up goalies tonight. With that we should see some high scoring games. Good luck and hope to see you in the green! NHL NHL DFS The Saturday Slapshot for DraftKings and FanDuel (Nov. 6) Joel Bartilotta 2 years ago written by Joel Bartilotta Welcome to the Saturday Slapshot. I’m Jared and I’ll be your host. Tonight we have a solid 10 game slate where I’ll be highlighting some of my top plays for tonight’s NHL slate on Fanduel and Draftkings. Includes 4v5, 3v4, 3v5 Goaltending Craig Anderson ($7.9k DK/$6.9k FD) vs. Detroit Red Wings – I really love the spot tonight for Anderson. He hit a little bit of a bump in the road in his last start against San Jose but the Sharks are better than advertised. On the year Anderson has a solid .921 save % and 2.49 GAA. He’s facing a Red Wings team tonight that is currently struggling. They’re riding a 4 game losing streak and have only scored once in 2 games in November. The Red Wings should also be without their Captain in Dylan Larkin who is away from the team for personal reason. I’m a big fan of him on both sites tonight, especially FD where he’s below $7k. Robin Lehner ($7.8K DK/$7.4k FD) vs. Montreal Canadiens – If Lehner gets the nod in goal tonight I’m a big fan of him being one of the top goalies on the night. He’s coming off his best outing of the year after stopping 38 of 39 shots from the Senators. While he’s had a few rough outings this season so far, he also has a very solid .915 save %. The Golden Knights give up a ton of shots and Lehner is facing a team tonight in the Canadiens that have one of the worst shooting %’s in the league at just 6.88%. Look for the Canadiens to fire a bunch of pucks on net tonight with Lehner saving almost all of them. He’s a solid pick on both sites. Igor Shesterkin ($7.3k DK/$7.9k FD) vs. Calgary Flames – The price of Shesterkin on DK tonight seems a bit low for a goaltender with a .943 save % and just a 1.85 GAA. Shesty as us Rangers fans like to call him has been one of the best goalies in the league so far. He’s reached at least 22 points in 4 of his 8 starts this year with 2 of them being over 30. Rangers give up close to 33 shots per game so we know there will be a ton of volume and volume is good for goalies in DFS. Flames have started out November pretty slow with back to back losses. Look for them to make it 3 straight losses tonight as they get stonewalled by Shesterkin. Stacks Buffalo 1 (Thompson/Skinner/Asplund/Dahlin) The Red Wings have been one of the more defensively challenged teams so far on this young season. They have a corsi of 44% which is one of the worst numbers of the 20 teams on the ice tonight. They’re also giving up more than 3.5 goals per game. I’m going to target Detroit with the top line of Buffalo who has been pretty solid over their last 5 games. Combined the group of Thompson, Skinner, and Asplund have 6 goals over the last 5 games and 12 points. They correlate very well together as they play together on the power play as well. Asplund is the cheapest of the bunch at just $3.6k tonight on DK and has been the most productive with 3 goals and 3 assists in the last 5. Buffalo is one of the my favorite teams on the night and they are extremely affordable. Washington 1 (Ovechkin/Kuznetsov/Wilson/Carlson) Our first stack in the Sabres was cheap and it opens up salary for us to be able to afford Ovechkin(Ovi). Ovi is on a heater right now with 5 goals and 8 points over his last 5 games. Philly hasn’t been giving too many goals this year, but it’s not for a lack of trying. They’re giving up more than 33 shots per game and nearly 14 high danger chances per game. There will be a ton of volume for the Capitals in terms of shots and the Capitals are a team that loves to shoot the puck. While I love the entire line tonight, it’s possible that I end up just pairing Ovi with Carlson. Carlson is playing extremely well right now and I want a piece of him. He has points in 3 straight and has been averaging more than 4 shots plus bocks in those. The two of them also play together on the power play. Vegas PP1 (Stephenson/Dadonov/Smith/Pietrangelo) This is probably the Canadiens last game before they get Carey Price back and I want to take advantage of the spot. Jake Allen isn’t a bad goalie, but he’s not Carey Price. The Canadiens have struggled quite a bit this year, with goaltending being part of the problem. They’re giving up more than 3 goals per games this year thanks to a save % less than 90. My thought process with picking Vegas top power play has to do with the fact that no team has given up more power play goals this season than the Canadiens. So far this year they’ve given up 15 goals when down at least a man. While Vegas’ power play isn’t as strong with guys like Karlsson out, I still like their chances tonight. My core here would Stephenson and Dadonov as they play together at even strength too. Over the last 5 games, Stephenson and Dadonov have combined for 4 goals and 5 assists. They should do well tonight. Other stacks (Colorado 1, Winnipeg 1, Seattle 2, San Jose 2, Toronto 1) Top Defenseman Brent Burns – San Jose Adam Fox – New York Rangers Moritz Seider – Detroit Red Wings Filip Hronek – Detroit Red Wings Shea Theodore – Vegas Golden Knights Summary On tap tonight we have an original 6 match up with the Boston Bruins heading to Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs and we also have also have 4 teams (Rangers, Jets, Devils, and Coyotes) on the tail end of back to back games. While I didn’t write them up as one of my top 3 stacks tonight, I do really love the spot for the Seattle tonight. They’re facing a struggling Coyotes team that will also have tired legs. Good luck and hope to see you in the green! Make sure you follow me on Twitter at @rangerzfan79 and be sure to sign up for an ALL ACCESS GOLD ACCOUNT here at Win Daily Sports.
