Welcome to Wednesday's edition of Between the Benches.   After an 11-game slate night, we have just a modest 5-game slate tonight of NHL DFS. At first glance, we have some pretty glaring mismatches on the board tonight that we'll want to attack.

Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money.

NHL DFS Goaltending

Andrei Vasilevskiy ($8.5K DK/$8.1k FD) vs. Montreal Canadiens – This is probably the biggest mismatch of the night as the Tampa Bay Lightning take on the lowly Montreal Canadiens. The Canadiens are coming into this tilt struggling, scoring just 1.83 goals per game over the last 2 weeks. Over that stretch, they've won just once in 6 games. They are a team night in and night out that we'll want to consider a goalie against as they just aren't a strong offense.

With Vasilevskiy, we have one of the more consistent goalies of the last decade. A goalie that normally averages a GAA of 2.6 or less and a save % north of .900. This season ...

Welcome to the Saturday Slapshot.  Thanks to Thanksgiving, we have a much smaller than normal 5-game Saturday slate.  This is much more manageable than normal and one we should absolutely smash tonight.

Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money.

NHL DFS Goaltending

Semyon Varlamov ($8.1K DK/$8.3k FD) vs. Philadelphia Flyers – With Ilya Sorokin playing last night, we’ll more than likely see Semyon Varlamov in the net tonight for the Islanders.  He’s the clear number 2 on this team, but he gets a great matchup tonight vs. a Flyers team that is struggling to score goals right now.  Over the last 2 weeks, the Flyers are scoring just 2 goals per game in the 8 games they’ve played.

While Varlamov is nothing spectacular, he has put up respectable numbers this season with a 2.97 GAA and a .914 save percentage.  The Islanders are big favorites tonight so there’s a solid chance that Varlamov gets the W.   ...

Welcome to the Saturday Slapshot.  We have ourselves a massive and I mean massive 13-game slate of NHL DFS tonight.  The schedule makers for the NHL have not been doing us much justice!  There are a ton of teams that will be in ideal spots for offense tonight.

Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money.

NHL DFS Goaltending

Jeremy Swayman ($8.3K DK/$8.8k FD) vs. Chicago Blackhawks – Steven Conroy of the Boston Herald is projecting that Jeremy Swayman will make his return tonight vs. the Chicago Blackhawks.  Regardless of who is in the net for the Bruins tonight, I’ll be on them in cash-game lineups.  The Bruins are massive favorites tonight (-410) and while whoever mans the net tonight won’t face much in the way of shots, they stand an excellent chance of getting a shutout.

The Blackhawks' offense right now is just about non-existent.  Over the last 2 weeks, they’ve scored just 6 goals in their last 5 games.&n...

Welcome to the Saturday Slapshot.  There are a couple of early games today but this article will be solely focused on the massive 11-game NHL DFS slate we have tonight.  There are some lopsided matchups that we’ll want to take advantage of tonight as well as some of the more explosive offenses in the league taking the ice.

Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money.

NHL DFS Goaltending

Ilya Sorokin ($8.4K DK/$8.4k FD) vs. Columbus Blue Jackets – Ilya Sorokin’s season stats have been amazing.  Through 11 starts he has just a 2.09 GAA and a .936 save percentage.  He’s a little more expensive than I’d normally like to pay for a goalie, but between his play this season and the matchup, he should be one of the leading scorers for goalies tonight.

Sorokin and the Islanders are heavy favorites tonight vs. a Blue Jackets team that hasn’t been doing a whole lot in the way of scoring recently.  Over the last 2 weeks, the Bl...

NHL Playoff Preview (First Round)

Welcome to Keith's NHL Playoff Preview (First Round). A little different than my daily game pick articles. The NHL Playoffs are finally here! After a grueling 56-game season we are down to 16 teams. With the nuances of scheduling this year, each team will have a mini bracket within their division and then each team who makes it out of their division will be re-seeded for the Final 4. Not too many surprises with who made the playoffs. Here are the 16 teams who will be playing in the First Round:

We have some great First Round matchups. I will preview each series, post each series price and give my predictions. I will also keep a tracker for my entire slate of playoff bets, as I have some futures on who makes it out of their division, as well as who wins Lord Stanley. I will provide that info at the end as well as some general thoughts for betting the NHL Playoffs. Without further ado, let's dive into the series.

NHL Betting Picks Saturday 5/1

Welcome to Keith's NHL Betting Picks Saturday 5/1. The Model went 0-2 last night. It happens, there were only 4 games on the slate. The Jets were up 2-0 and 3-1 before ultimately losing 5-3. They had the game and just collapsed down the stretch. The over in the Knights/Yotes never stood a chance with Vegas getting shutout by Arizona. Quite a surprise for one of the best scoring teams in the league. But that is hockey sometimes, the good value doesn't always play out. On to Saturday and the biggest slate of the year.

We have 15 (!!) games on the NHL slate tonight. Let's take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

NHL Betting Picks Friday 4/30

Welcome to Keith's NHL Betting Picks Friday 4/30. The Model went 1-1 last night. An easy over cover in the Penguins/Flyers game, I still can't believe it was only 5.5. Should have hammered that one. Then the Wild looked terrible to start going down 3-0, had a great comeback and tied it 4-4 to push the game to OT, but then the Blues sniped the dagger. St. Louis is on a little bit of a roll right now, will be interesting to see them ride this into the playoffs. On to Friday's games.

NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 4/28

Welcome to Keith's NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 4/28. The Model had a monster night going 3-1. The only loss was the Isles who lost a 1-0 game to the Caps who scored on the first shot of the game. No offense for them, could be a problem come playoffs. The two overs hit with ease with both games ending up 7-4. And the Hurricanes did exactly what I thought and bounced back in a big way from their loss on Monday with a 5-1 domination of Dallas. It feels good when we get pretty much everything right. Let's keep it rolling today.

NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 3/31

Welcome to Keith's NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 3/31. The Model had a rough one last night. 0-3. We were prime for a regression due to my unreal winning percentage as of late. We can't overreact to 1 bad night. We take a step back and re-evaluate and move on to tonight.

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. There are a couple leans tonight such as the Coyotes/Avs over 5.5. Colorado is 7-1 in their last 8 and Coyotes are 4-1 in their last 5, but these teams also have gone multiple games in a row against each o...

NHL Betting Picks Monday 3/29

Welcome to Keith's NHL Betting Picks Monday 3/29. The Model just had 1 play last night and it was a loser. Columbus is bad this year, losing back-to-back games against freaking Detroit. Might put Columbus on my blacklist for the season along with Montreal. Also probably should've took the Devils as a +150 dog against the Bruins. They are now 4-0-1 against Boston somehow. Whatever we move on to today.
