NBA DFS Games to Target for 8.7

We have quite the five game slate in front of us tonight! Memphis, Brooklyn, Washington and New Orleans are all in action and they have all struggled mightily defensively. Additionally, we have Joel Embiid and the Sixers without Ben Simmons. He suffered a knee injury and it's not yet know how much time he'll miss. There's a lot of options in NBA DFS Games to Target for 8.7 so let's jump in!

Thunder vs Grizzlies, O/U of 222.5

Pace - Thunder 21st, Grizzlies 6th

Thunder - OUT - Dennis Schroder, Mike Muscala

The Thunder get a really nice pace up spot here against the Grizzlies and there's going to be some pieces that garner attention. The main piece is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who didn't wow anyone last time out. However, he also shot just 27% from the floor. It's more important to look at the 24.4% usage rate when Schroder is off the floor. This is the style of game where he can show off a ceiling and is still under $7,000.

NBA DFS 2/22 — PG

Luka Doncic, DAL (@ ATL) – DK $10,200

I don’t know why Luka’s price has actually dropped a few hundred bucks on DK, but we’ll welcome that. Both James Harden (@UTA) and Trae Young (on the other side of this matchup and stackable) are more expensive today and have lower floors and ceilings tonight. Doncic fills up the stat sheet and also has a better shot at triple-double bonus than the aforementioned NBA DFS ballers. If you’re drawn to Russell Westbrook as a pivot I wouldn’t mind much – he’s got a very winnable matchup with Utah, and is stackable with Mike Conley, who should be a full go for the second half of a back-to-back where he rested yesterday. But Luka remains the best player over $10K on this six-game slate.

UPDATE: Luka is out, so plug in Trae Young.

With Luka and Porzingis out, there’s a whole lot of value opening up for the Mavs (and Hawks, in that Trae’s upside is now a tad higher). DFS, Maxi Kleber and Tim Hardaway are all solid plays, as is probable starting PG Jalen Brunson who’s just $5K on DK. And with Jimmy Butler (personal) out, one of Goran Dragic or Kendrick Nunn should have a big game.

Pivot/Stack: Russell Westbrook/Jalen Brunson

NBA DFS 2/22 — SG

Spencer Dinwiddie, BKN (@ CHA) – DK $7,700

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a ceiling game from Dinwiddie, who’s assumed full control as the main scoring guard in the absence of Kyrie Irving. He’s added some salary in the past few days but remains a solid GPP play in an exploitable matchup. If he can get some shots to drop, there’s no reason he can’t go for 55-60 DK points tonight. I like Terry Rozier’s diminished price on the other side of this game (he’s eligible at PG/SG/G and UTIL), and Jimmy Butler appears to be the most viable pivot, as he’ll be looking to lead the Heat to victory following a loss to Atlanta on Thursday. If you don’t have the money for Butler, Jordan Clarkson is a solid value in an up-tempo game against the Rockets where he could be asked to play bigger minutes. UPDATE: With Jimmy Butler out, Zach Lavine ($8,900) is starting to look more and more like a solid play at SG if you want to pivot from Dinwiddie.

Pivot/Value/Stack: Jimmy ButlerZach Lavine/Jordan Clarkson/Terry Rozier

NBA DFS 2/22 — SF

Dorian Finney-Smith, DAL (@ ATL) – DK $4,600

We saw Kristaps Porzingis and Luka go nuts last night, and that’s certainly a team stack that appears to have a better correlation than some other stud combos we’ve seen (LBJ-AD/Harden-Westbrook come to mind as not quite as appealing in DFS). We could see the Mavs give Kristaps a bit of a break tonight and allow Finney-Smith, (whose initials – DFS – are perfect for our purposes here) to flourish against a fast-paced Hawks team that turns the ball over quite a bit. The price on DFS is very affordable (just $4K on FD and a lock there considering what he could do defensively) and there’s 8x upside in this matchup. Possible pivot Kevin Porter Jr. might garner lower ownership after his ejection last night, and I don’t mind Kevin Huerter as a game stack option on the other end. UPDATE: DFS and Hardaway are even better plays with both Luka and Kristaps out. Duncan Robinson get s abump for the Heat with Butler out.

Pivots: Kevin Porter Jr./Kevin Huerter

NBA DFS 2/22 — PF

Jae Crowder, MIA (vs. CLE) – DK $4,800

If there’s a way to fit Giannis and key elements of the DAL-ATL game in your lineups tonight, great – but I’ll be looking for some value at PF, and Crowder makes sense in the $4-5K range. He got off to an impossibly slow start on Thursday night and finished with just 25.5 DK points in 23 minutes, but if he sees 30+ minutes against the Cavs there’s no reason he can’t go for 7X or more. For a few more DK dollars you can spring for Thaddeus Young on a Bulls team that’s short a few big bodies, and Robert Covington is also still affordable in that same price range. UPDATE: Add Kleber to the mix at PF. Crowder could also see more usage with Butler out.

Pivots: Thaddeus Young/Robert Covington

NBA DFS 2/22 — C

Jarrett Allen, BKN (@ CHA) – DK $4,300

Allen got almost no run on Thursday night (zero real-life points and 1.5 DK points in 13 minutes) and the Nets opted to pit veteran center DeAndre Jordan against Joel Embiid (the new Eurostep king). But the price on Allen is now a measly $4,300 and should see 20+ minutes against the Hornets, who will feature Cody Zeller and P.J. Washington (both $4,700 and PF/C eligible on DK). If we hear anything about Allen getting dropped from the rotation before lock we should stay away, but I have no qualms about taking advantage of the affordable price on Allen and taking a fearless foray into the land of the weak Charlotte bigs tonight. If I had the money I would go right back to the well on Bam Adebayo, but I won’t have much left after rostering Luka and some of the other guards in most of my GPP builds. UPDATE: For the minimum price on DK at just $3K, Boban Marjanovic could go nuts in a starting role, and log 15-20 minutes even without the nod. The Mavs are woefully low on bigs, especially if Willie Cauley-Stein remains out.

Pivot/Stack/Punt: Bam Adebayo/Cody Zeller or P.J. Washington/Boban Marjanovic

My NBA DFS core plays are the basis of your teams for cash and GPP. For a cash lineup, you will fill out your roster with other starters and players with safe minutes. For tournaments, you will use 1 or 2 leverage plays mixed in with other cash style players. Good luck!

NBA DFS Core:

Donte DiVincenzo (4,000)

DiVincenzo is usually good for 20-25 fantasy points. With Hill out today, he should get a little more run and gets a small bump. On a 3 game slate, this is a great value.

Brandon Ingram (7,100)

Ingram hasn’t had the same ceiling since Zion returned but at 7100 he’s got more than enough to pay off the tag. Today he gets to face off with Eric Gordon, a pretty bad defender and is in an uptempo game.

Serge Ibaka (6,200)

Ibaka has had 30 plus fantasy points in every game since Gasol was re-injured. Chicago has been bad against centers, but not as bad as to begin the season. Still, this is a good spot to attack today.

Devin Booker (9,100)

Booker is a bit of a pivot today. Most people will pay up for Harden or Westbrook but Booker is also in a great spot. The Bucks allow a lot of 3 point shots and Booker is the kind of player who can make them pay.

NBA DFS Positions to Attack:

Wings vs Houston

Guards vs New Orleans

Bigs vs Chicago

Guards vs Phoenix

Slate Thoughts

While working on this article and my player pool, I decided there is 2 ways to attack this slate. The one most people will elect is one of the Houston guards, Brandon Ingram, Ibaka, and the obvious value. If going this route, you need to find value pivots to be contrarian. The other route and the one I prefer is a balanced build centered around Ingram, Holiday, Siakam, Booker, and Ayton. Therefore giving you a completely different build than the field.

This article discusses a core for DFS players to build around for today’s FanDuel NBA slate. While there are many different sports and various contests pertaining to DFS along with their respective strategies, we focus on the main approaches to build both reliable cash and GPP lineups for a successful NBA night including pace, the projected over/under, one on one matchups, and a team’s defensive rating. Make sure to stay active when building NBA lineups – if you cannot be in front of a computer, tablet, or on your phone an hour before lock do not throw your money away! NBA DFS lineups can change at the blink of an eye and is the most variable compared to any other sport in DFS; players get injured, some sit for load management, and others find themselves on the DNP list for other reasons; any of which can sway your lineup and where to find value. Stay alert on the WinDaily Discord chat to follow along with our updated plays. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

PointGuard

Russell Westbrook ($11,200FD price)

There were times in the last few seasons that we simply locked in Russell Westbrook no matter what his price was. A triple-double machine, Westbrook is on one of those streaks and will be in the majority of my lineups today. The Pelicans allow 48.44 points per game to opposing point guards and Lonzo Ball won’t be able to guard him.

Lonzo Ball ($6,600 FD price)

Not an ideal play tonightwith the Pelicans shifting usage left and right on a game-to-game basis andwith Jrue Holiday back, Lonzo Ball has taken a hit. He’s in a decent spot simplybecause Westbrook turns the ball over at an alarming rate and should benefitfrom the amount of steals he can get today.

Eric Bledsoe ($6,100 FDprice)

A much better play if GiannisAntetokounmpo sits, Eric Bledsoe is one of my favorite mid-range targets on theslate today. Phoenix struggles versus guards allowing over 44 FanDuel pointsper game and Bledsoe should carry a heavy usage rate should a hobbledAntetokounmpo sit out.

Punt: Reggie Jackson ($4,600FD price)

ShootingGuard

James Harden ($11,000 FDprice)

In a non-Westbrook NBA lineup, hedge with Harden. Not opposed to having both but it means you need a player at minimum salary or two punts in your lineup which I am not comfortable doing on a small slate. One will go off, and I think it’ll be Westbrook.

Jrue Holiday ($7,800 FDprice)

My lock at SG on today’s NBA slate, Jrue Holiday is on a mission since returning from injury. I love attacking the Rockets at the ‘2’ and Harden is a DVP disaster on defense. A player that can fill the box score quickly, Holiday has tremendous upside with his defensive ability.

Khris Middleton ($7,200 FDprice)

Similarly to Eric Bledsoe, Khris Middleton will be an instant lock if Giannis Antetokounmpo sits out this afternoon. Fresh off his 51 point performance just two games ago, Middleton has one of the safest floors in the NBA mid-range players today and will be paired with Jrue Holiday in the majority of my lineups.

Punt: Donte DiVincenzo($4,500 FD price)

SmallForward

Giannis Antetokounmpo($11,600 FD price)

If he plays, I’ll be locking him in with Westbrook and coming off Middleton to make the salary work. The reigning NBA MVP is not only taking over the East, but the entire NBA with his versatility on both ends of the floor.

Pascal Siakam ($8,500 FDprice)

The Chicago Bulls defend theguard positions well so I am off both Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet today. But someoneneeds to carry the offense, and I believe both Siakam and Ibaka will do welltonight against the Bulls frontcourt. Siakam should draw a favorable matchupwith Kris Dunn ruled out.

Will Barton ($6,000 FDprice)

Mr. NBA GPP will find himself in my lineups today and take advantage of Detroit’s lineup. The Pistons often end up playing a guard at the small forward position and Barton should be able to dominate the glass and score in bunches.

Danuel House ($4,200 FDprice)

With Clint Capela ruled out,Danuel House should enter the starting lineup again alongside Eric Gordon. He’sbeen flashing his defensive ability which raises his floor. Don’t expect 50+and a slate-breaking performance but at $4,300, I don’t hate this play but suggesthedging with Eric Gordon ($4,900)

PowerForward

Zion Williamson ($6,500 FDprice)

The NBA rookie is on a tear since coming back from a major injury and should be able to thrive in a fast matchup versus the Rockets. Averaging 28 minutes over his last 3 games, the Pelicans have been playing him more and he seems to be getting comfortable in an NBA environment; Zion will be facing a small Rockets frontcourt without Capela and will be a lock for a double-double.

Jerami Grant ($6,400 FDprice)

With Michael Porter Jr.ruled out, Jerami Grant should see more minutes despite already being in thestarting lineup with Paul Millsap nursing an injury. His price is a little highfor me but he has a high floor with his defensive capability.

Serge Ibaka ($5,800 FDprice)

A lock for me right now on today’s NBA slate. Playing a terrible Chicago Bulls frontcourt, Ibaka will feast without Marc Gasol in the lineup. Don’t overthink this one. Eat the chalk.

Center

Nikola Jokic ($10,000 FD price)

My preference over Andre Drummond, Jokic isn’t having a good enough NBA season for me to trust him let alone pay 10k for him on such a small slate. The ownership will be high, but I’ll be fading him for Brook Lopez.

Andre Drummond ($9,500 FD price)

He can go off for a 20-20game at any time and is virtually matchup proof, but in a game that could getugly, I am off Drummond but can understand people pivoting off the Jokic chalkfor him. I can’t see myself getting there, but he has the ability to break anNBA slate at any time.

Brook Lopez ($5,000 FDprice)

Regardless of whether or not Giannis Antetokounmpo plays, Brook Lopez will be my NBA center today. He his too cheap for someone that is in such a good matchup and provides upside on both ends on the floor since he is averaging a career years in blocks per game.

Isaiah’s Protocol for the NBA DFS slate is built around DraftKings pricing, but is good across the industry with some slight adjustments to salaries on the various sites.

Welcome to Super Bowl Sunday. On DraftKings we’re looking at a 3 game NBA DFS slate today. FanDuel has a 4th game included as they have the Denver/Detroit early game on their slate. Giannis Antotokounmpo is listed as questionable with a sore hamstring. This news is very important and his game starts at 2 PM EST. This makes the FanDuel NBA DFS slate even trickier as I doubt we get his news before that early game locks. I advise all my readers to join the staff at WinDaily in our Discord chat rooms as we discuss important news as it unfolds.

Giannis has a 39.1% usage rate and scores 1.90 fantasy points (FP) per minute. His status completely affects the core plays on both of the main DFS sites. If Antetokounmpo happens to sit today, Eric Bledsoe ($6700), Khris Middleton ($7800), and Ersan Ilyasova ($5000) all become instant core plays. I will also be looking very closely at a cheap Brook Lopez ($3900) as value to help me roster some of the higher priced studs.

THE STUDS

Russell Westbrook ($10200) Russell continues to star in this spot as he’s been on a tear recently. He has a 35.6% usage rate and scores 1.39 FP/min. The Pelicans rank 16th in defensive efficiency (DEFF) and 29th in (DvsA) which is a rank given to the opponent when facing this player’s archetype. Russell is my first pick on this NBA DFS slate regardless of Giannis playing or not.

THE CORE

Eric Bledsoe ($6700) I’m playing Beldsoe on both sites reagardless of the status on Giannis. On the season Eric has a 26% usage rate and scores 1.19 FP/min. Phoenix ranks 19th in DvsA and I love targeting this team with guards. Bledsoe also gets the biggest bump in his statistics without Antetokounmpo on the floor.

Serge Ibaka ($6200) Marc Gasol continues to sit with a sore hamstring allowing Serge to start in his place. Ibaka has a 23.4% usage rate and scores 1.13 FP/min. on the season. The Bulls rank 28th in DvsA and 17th in DEFF as they continue to be decimated by injuries across their roster.

Zion Willamson ($7700) The Houston/New Orleans game has the highest Implied total (244)on this NBA DFS slate. It also involves to of the highest paced teams in the NBA. Zions minutes continue to creep up as he now carries a 28.5% usage rate and scores 1.21 FP/min. Houston ranks 25th in DEFF and 23rd in DvsA. The Rockets will also be without Clint Capela as he continues to be sidelined with a sore heel. Zion is simply to cheap on this NBA DFS slate on both sites.

Others: Pascal Siakam ($9100), Jrue Holiday ($8000), Brandon Ingram ($7100), Fred VanVleet ($7300), Kyle Lowry ($6900), Lonzo Ball ($7000)

THE VALUE

Tomas Satoransky ($4500) He’s too cheap and been playing well. He gets a nice bump with the recent injury to Kris Dunn.

Donte Divincenzo ($4000) Gets a bump in playing time without Giannis or George Hill.

Josh Hart ($3800) Definitely in play as he gets a lot of minutes off the bench and is in a hfast paced game with a high implied team total (ITT).

There’s a lot to think about tonight so I highly encourage all readers to join myself, and the rest of the WinDaily team in the Discord chat rooms as we break down and discuss our favorite plays. Isaiah’s Protocol for the NBA DFS slate is built around DraftKings pricing but is good across the industry with some slight adjustments to salaries on the various sites.

We are looking at an enticing 12 game NBA DFS slate tonight, packed with electric players and exciting games to watch. There is a lot to cover so we can find some optimal players. I advise all my readers to join the staff at WinDaily in our Discord chat rooms as we discuss important news as it unfolds during the day.

I wouldn’t be doing my job as an NBA writer if I didn’t start off by mentioning the situation in New Orleans. Zion Williamson will be making his long-awaited NBA debut. Trying to put the hype aside, this status throws a curveball into the NBA DFS slate. The Spurs/Pelicans game has the highest implied team total (ITT) and 2 of the worst defenses on the docket tonight. This game also involves at least 6 players to consider for roster construction. All the numbers go out the door as I have no idea how Zion will affect the minutes, usage, defense, and overall production of any of these key pieces.

ZION

Las Vegas has set Zion’s props for around 13 points, and 6 rebounds. Williamson averaged 23.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 71.4 percent from the field during the preseason. He was supposed to be out only 6-8 weeks but eventually sat out for 3 months with a torn meniscus in his knee. According to the Pelicans’ executive vice president of basketball operations, they just wanted to be cautious with their franchise player. If I project Zion to put up 13 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and a TO in 15-20 minutes, he scores roughly 25 DraftKings fantasy points (DKFPTS), and 5X value on his $5000 salary. I highly doubt they turn him loose for over 25 minutes, which is what he will need to maximize his potential. I will most likely take a ‘wait and see’ approach with Zion on this NBA DFS slate.

THE STUDS

Lebron James ($10800) All the power to you if you can get him on your roster. Lebron has a 34% usage rate and scores 1.56 fantasy points (FP) per minute. The Knicks rank 26th in defensive efficiency (DEFF) and 29th in (DvsA) which is a rank given to the opponent when facing this player’s archetype.

Karl-Anthony Towns ($10400) KAT is in a great spot on this NBA DFS slate squaring off against a short-handed Bulls team that ranks 16th in DEFF and 29th in DvsA. He carries a 29.6% usage rate and 1.53 FP/min. Any concerns regarding his extended absence with a bothersome knee can be put aside after he just dropped 50 DKFPTS on the Nuggets in 35 minutes on Monday.

Russell Westbrook ($9800) I wasn’t going to originally include Westbrook here as I don’t really like to target teams that are facing a solid Denver defense. The Nuggets come in ranking 12 in DEFF and 4th in DvsA. Denver is currently dealing with multiple injuries throughout their roster, so these numbers may not be that accurate. Russell has a 35% usage rate and scores 1.35 FP/min. Jamal Murray has already been ruled out for tonight so Westbrook makes the list tonight.

THE CORE

Chris Paul ($7300) Paul has registered over 35 DKFPTS in 7 of his last 10 games, and over 45 DKFPTS in 3 of his last 4. He has a 22.7% usage rate and scores 1.13 FP/min. I don’t typically target players against Orlando’s solid defense. I was surprised to see that they rank 23rd in DEFF. CP3 dropped 38.5 DKFPTS on them in the last game. Paul should be low owned tonight and could get us 6X value at this salary.

Bradley Beal ($7200) This price is way too low for Beal. I understand that Miami has a solid defense ranking 9th in DEFF and 4th in DvsA. Beal has a 33.6% usage rate and scores 1.26 FP/min. He’s relatively match up proof and he dropped 43 DKFPTS in 39 minutes the last time he saw the Heat. Those figures will get me 6X value with his salary and make him a fine piece for my roster on this NBA DFS slate.

Jason Tatum ($7500) and Gordon Hayward ($5800) Jaylen Brown has been ruled out tonight. Boston has the 2nd highest ITT on this NBA DFS slate at 233 points. Memphis is one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now. I can see them keeping this game closer than the 7 point line implies. The Grizzlies have the 7th highest pace on the slate. They rank 27th against combo guards (CG) and 30th against scoring wings (SCW). Memphis also ranks 24th in DvsA against shooting forwards. I want to get a piece of this game, so Tatum and Gordon’s salaries look to be nice targets.

Others

*Lou Williams ($7300) Lock him in if Patrick Beverly misses this game, or Kawhi Leonard ($10500) sits on the second half of this back to back tonight. Kawhi becomes one of my most favorite plays on the NBA DFS slate if he plays.

Jimmy Butler, Jrue Holiday, Donovan Mitchell, Pascal Siakam, Danilo Gallinari, Jonas Valanciunas, Nemanja Bjelica, Kyle Lowry, Marvin Bagley, and Dillon Brooks.

THE VALUE

I’m just going to list a couple of names I’m considering as of right now because it’s way too early to make any decisions on value for this NBA DFS slate.

Jordan McRae, Mike Conley, *Landry Shamet (Beverly injury status), and a possible dart on Dort… Luguentz Dort.

There’s a lot to think about today. I highly encourage all readers to join the WinDaily team in the Discord chat rooms as we break down and discuss our favorite plays of the NBA DFS slate. Thank you for reading my content and feel free to leave a comment, or hit me up on Twitter @IsaiahsProtocol.

Isaiah’s Protocol picks for the NBA DFS slate are built around DraftKings pricing, but are good across the industry with some slight adjustments to salaries on the various sites.

We have a nice 6 game NBA DFS slate to look at tonight. I want to mention a trend I’ve been noticing lately. I’m finding that a lot of the high priced studs are scoring around 50 DKFPTS lately. Some of this is due to blowouts, injury, load management, or just sharing the court. Many of them have higher ceilings. I’m finding it easier to fade most of them and increase my salary averages. I like to concentrate on getting 40+ DKFPTS out of more of the mid to higher tier guys. This process isn’t set it stone, but I find it an easier way to start to narrow down my player pool on NBA DFS slates.

Kemba Walker has already been ruled out. I’ll touch on some thoughts there as we go.

THE CORE

Devin Booker ($7900) Devin has been killing it lately. He’s scored more than 44 DKFPTS in his last 4 games. He has a 29.5% usage rate and scores 1.14 FP/min. The Knicks rank 26th in DvsA, and 28th in DEFF. He’s too cheap for his projected 41 DKFPTS tonight.

John Randle ($7700) Randle has been on fire recently. He has had more than 47 DKFPTS in his last 4, maxing out at 61 in his last game of 2019. Randle has a 26.8% usage rate and scores 1.12 FP/min. Phoenix ranks 28th in DEFF.

Deandre Ayton ($7300) Deandre is a virtual lock for 40+ DKFPTS, and a double-double every time he gets on the court. He seems to have put his suspension and bothersome ankle injury behind him. Ayton has a 23.4% usage rate and scores 1.29 FP/min. I don’t think the Knicks are very good against opposing centers, and I can picture a game script here where Ayton approaches 50 DKPTS.

Gordon Hayward ($7000) Gordon has a 21.6% usage rate and scores 1.09 FP/min. More important is Atlanta’s 30th ranked DEFF, and 27th DvsA against shooting wings. I think a lot of people will be looking at Tatum and Brown on this NBA DFS slate. Gordons assist rate gets a 6.6% boost without Kemba, and he already shoots 53.4% on the season. The matchup, the stats, the injury, and the salary all project Hayward to go north of 40 DFFPTS tonight at $7000.

Others: Brandon Ingram, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Kelly Oubre.

VALUE

Marcus Smart ($5100) Don’t get cute here, grab a fork and prepare to eat the chalk on this NBA DFS slate. Smart entered the starting lineup when Brown was sick, and I fully expect him to start tonight. Atlanta ranks 27th in DEFF and 23rd in DvsA. Marcus is projected to play 32 minutes, and go over 30 DKFPTS tonight. That’s right around 6X value.

Terrance Ross ($4000) With Aaron Gordon still nursing an Achilles issue, and the masses chasing DJ Augustin’s phenomenal game last time out, Ross is still being overlooked and priced too cheap. Miami is a solid D, so the matchup isn’t a great one. Roster at your own risk, but this guy has the ability and minutes to break the NBA DFS slate on any given night.

Frank Ntilikina ($3200) There’s an obvious risk with taking the 8th overall pick in the 2017 draft. Frank just locked down Dame on Wednesday en route to 34.25 DKFPTS. Elfrid Payton is listed a questionable due to a personal matter and doesn’t look like he’s going to play. Rubio also tweaked his hip on Wednesday, although he’s listed as probable. I know it’s not a great play, but if he runs 25+ minutes, he could be a steal at $3200.

Breaking news will be extremely important tonight as we will need some value to open up so that we can look at some higher-priced stars to squeeze into our lineups, I highly encourage all readers to join myself, and the rest of the WinDaily team in the Discord chat rooms as we break down and discuss our favorite plays of the NBA DFS slate. Isaiah’s Protocol picks for the NBA DFS slate are built around DraftKings pricing, but are good across the industry with some slight adjustments to salaries on the various sites.

We have a very difficult 4 game NBA DFS slate tonight, as 7 of the 8 teams are on the second half of a back to back. Making matters even more intriguing, there are several superstars that are questionable due to lingering injuries. Others are in blowout type game scripts. At the time in which I’m writing this, I don’t have the luxury of knowing what the teams are planning in regards to resting certain stars.

I’ve studied several different ways to attack this small NBA DFS slate and concluded that there is very little value as of right now. This makes it extremely hard to fit any of the high salaries into a lineup that feels comfortable. The Nuggets and Grizzlies seem to spread the ball around evenly, making them tough teams to target on this NBA DFS slate. De’Aaron Fox is injured so there should be value in Sacramento, but I don’t like targeting Denver’s stout defense at home. This leaves the five superstars which are difficult to fit in and New Orleans. The Pelicans are playing an up-tempo game against a susceptible defense in the Rockets. This is what I came up with.

The Core

Russell Westbrook ($9200) Westbrook has been north of 45 DKFPTS in all of his last six games, and 9 of his last 10. He’s has a double-double floor, and is the cheapest of the studs tonight. He’s averaging 54 DKFPTS in 2 games vs. N.O.

Brandon Ingram ($8100) Ingram carries a 29.5% usage rate and scores 1.26 FP/min. Houston Is ranked 30th in DvsA, and Ingram put 63 DKFPTS on them in his last time out.

Jrue Holiday ($7800) Holiday has a 27.6% usage rate and scores 1.12 FP/min. Scored 48.3 DKFPTS in his last game vs. Houston.

Richaun Holmes ($7100) Holmes will be asked to do some of the heavy lifting on this NBA DFS slate with both Fox and Bagley on the shelf. Denver is actually ranked 23rd in DvsA at Holmes’ position.

Lonzo Ball ($5400) Ball’s been starting, and his minutes have been trending in the right direction. He carries a 21.5% usage rate and scores a FP/min. Ball dropped 45 DKFPTS in 35 minutes against the Rockets earlier in the season.

Value

Josh Hart ($4200) Hart has a great matchup tonight. The Rockets rank 28th in DvsA, and DEFF, and Josh dropped 35 DKFPTS on Houston his last time out. (Consider a pivot to Rondo here if Lebron misses the game)

De’Anthony Melton ($4000) This is more of a gut call. Melton should go relatively under-owned coming off the bench and averaging around 15 min/gm. He’s been averaging close to 30 DKFPTS a game and is a nice sleeper candidate at that price. Use caution here.

Jerami Grant ($3800) On an NBA DFS slate that is starving for value, Grants been getting a decent amount of minutes. On a B2B, and home favorites, against a banged-up King squad; Grant may get a nice value at his bargain-basement price.

Of course, all of the superstars are still in play for every NBA DFS slate. This write up just gave me a chance to get a lot of good players in one lineup. Using all of them would be a better cash gameplay than a GPP.

Breaking news will be extremely important today as we will need some value to open up so that we can look at some higher-priced stars to squeeze into our lineups, I highly encourage all readers to join myself, and the rest of the WinDaily team in the Discord chat rooms as we break down and discuss our favorite plays of the NBA DFS slate. Thank you for reading my content and feel free to leave a comment, or hit me up on Twitter @IsaiahsProtocol.

GOODLUCK AND HAVE FUN

I’ll be focusing on my core and GPP plays for the 12/20 DFS NBA for each position along with my favorite value plays.

WithNBA DFS, you need to stay locked in the final hour before lock until tipoff. Ifyou can’t be engaged during that hour, we recommend avoiding the NBA slate.Starting lineups and other news is vital to being successful in NBA DFS.

My Core and Value Plays for ALL Builds :

Sexy 6 – 12/20 DFS

  • Chris Boucher, PF/C – 12/20 DFS
    • Siakam and Gasol are BOTH OUT for the Raptors today so enter Chris Boucher. When Marc Gasol or Serge Ibaka was out for multiple games last time, Boucher would smash value easily. It seems now he may even start with both out. Lock him in EVERY lineup except one if you’re doing ten or more.
  • Serge Ibaka or Rondae Hollis-Jefferson – 12/20 DFS
    • Again, Siakam and Gasol are out so both will get extended runs. I hate Ibaka’s price tag, but he faces a terrible Washington team. Lock in Ibaka if you can afford it, but I prefer RHJ for his price tag.
  • Kyle Lowry, PG – 12/20 DFS
    • Someone needs to score on the Raptors. If Fred VanVleet is IN today, I’ll probably do 33% Lowry, 33% VanVleet, and the rest to have BOTH in my lineup.
  • Kemba Walker, PG – 12/20 DFS
    • Celtics are pretty banged up and Hayward may be OUT again. If he is, I’d lock in Kemba with Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum. If Hayward is IN, I’d just lock in Kemba. He’s still priced too cheap.
  • Andre Drummond, C – 12/20 DFS
    • The banned from our DFS playlist Blake Griffin is doubtful tonight. I don’t like the matchup against the Celtics, but the Celtics big men can’t defend someone like Drummond, who needs to smash in order to keep this game from being a blowout.
  • Jimmy Butler or Bam Adebayo – 12/20 DFS
    • They face New York. If you’re playing one, I’d recommend doing a second lineup and play the other. The End!

I’ve officially started a DO NOT PLAY list and Blake Griffin AND Jonathan Isaac are on that list. DO NOT PLAY them until further notice!

Sexy 6 is the basis for all my builds in both cash and GPP builds. I will most likely lock in a minimum of FOUR for every contest. Due to salary constraints, I doubt I can get all six, but I recommend at least four or five of the recommended players.

I’ll be focusing on my core and GPP plays for the 12/18 DFS NBA for each position along with my favorite value plays.

My Core and Value Plays for ALL Builds :

Sexy 6 – 12/18 DFS

  • Davis Bertans, SF/PF – 12/18 DFS
    • Hachimura is officially out for the next five games so this means the door has opened for Bertans. I think he will be extra chalky tonight, especially on FD so I don’t hate the play on DK since he’s priced up on that site.
  • Ian Mahinmi, C (FD Only) – 12/18 DFS
  • Tristan Thompson, C (DK Only) – 12/18 DFS
    • Center is my least favorite position tonight, especially on DK, but there is one that stands out and it is far from my favorite play. Thompson is not very trustworthy in DFS, but he faces Charlotte we love targeting the big man against Chicago or Charlotte. Mahinmi is priced too low on FD still and he faces Chicago.
  • Jeff Teague, PG – 12/18 DFS
    • Karl Anthony-Towns may be OUT and if he is, I’m locking in Teague AND Wiggins, but as of now, let’s think he’s playing tonight. Teague is on the second team and is thriving in this role. They face one of the worst defenses today in the Pelicans and they are on the second night of a back to back after going to OT last night. I’m locked in on Teague!
  • Bradley Beal, SG – 12/18 DFS
    • The Wizards are beat up and someone has to score against this terrible Chicago team. His usage has gone up and I expect him to go big on BOTH sites.
  • Jalen Brunson, PG – 12/18 DFS
    • I don’t like the price tag now, but he’s starting and crushing the opportunity. I think I may change him off of the Sexy Six tag by end of the day, but let’s keep him here for now.
  • Pascal Siakam, SF on FD / PF/C on DK
    • VanVleet is doubtful so bump up to Siakam. He’s another one I may remove the tag off of before lock.

I’ve officially started a DO NOT PLAY list and Blake Griffin is on that list. DO NOT PLAY him until further notice!
