Best Ball Stock Report Week 12

Investment: $1,641                                                                   Projection: $1,678.44

My projection for profit has increased from last week, and I am now projected to advance slightly more than 16.67% of my teams. The percentage next to the players’ name is the % owned across my entire best ball portfolio. 8.33% would be the benchmark for average owned (1/12 = 8.33).

How I drafted QBs this offseason has to be reevaluated. My percentage owned on the 3 elite QBs were all below 8%, as I prioritized RBs and WRs in the first three rounds. With the amount of late round RBs and WRs I was right on, this has led my teams to suboptimal scoring, as each week many of my teams have high scores on the bench from the RB/WR/TE positions. Granted, a lot of QB injuries sunk a lot of teams this year. However, QB is the hardest position to excel at. For every CJ Stroud, there are 9 Zach Wilsons. Not only does drafting one of the 3 elite QBs grant your team high QB scoring every week, but it also allows you to draft only 2, and allocate your draft capital to the other positions, giving you a better chance of nailing a late round stud. I will grant myself some grace, as this was the first year I maxed entered 150 lineups. But I have to learn from my mistakes and be better for next season.

Hits:

Jakoby Myers (21%) – AOC and I’m not talking about the US senator, looks like a somewhat competent NFL QB that can supply fantasy managers two WRs with sufficient scoring. Jakoby had another spike week as he continues to outperform his summer ADP.

Jared Goff (12%) – Detroit’s defense has shown its true colors these last few weeks as their offense has had to pass more to keep up. Faced with negative game scrip recently, the Lions have had to air it out more than usual. With their WRs finally all healthy and playing, Goff is in no shortage of weapons.

Devonta Smith (12%) – Slim Smith continues to see high volume with Goedert out of the lineup as he racks up 106 yards on 7 grabs with a TD this past week.

Isiah Pacheco (12%) – 89 total yards with 2 TDs. More importantly, McKinnon missed this game and CEH only had 3 carries. Isiah is approaching 3 down bell cow usage.

Pat Freiermuth (11%) –I and the rest of Pittsburgh nation has been clamoring for the firing of Matt Canada for weeks. Last week our prayers were finally answered. See you Matt don’t let the door hit you in the mussy on the way out. Pittsburgh gained over 400 yards for the first time in 59 games and Freiermuth showed his excellence by securing 9 grabs for 120 yards. The rest of the offense should flourish with a new OC in charge.

Zay Flowers (9%) – with Mark Andrews (6%) out for the year, this electric rookie out of Boston College led the Ravens with 8 targets and produced 62 total yards with 2 TDs. Although his aDOT remains low, the Ravens clearly scheme up ways to get the ball into Zay’s hands. Look for the rookie to be featured more and more with Andrews now out for the year.

Kyren Williams (6%) – feels like every week one player is featured who played against the dumpster fire defense known as the Arizona Cardinals. In his first game back, in a game where he SPLIT carries with Royce Freeman, Kyren rushes for 143 yards and catches 6 balls for 2 touchdowns. Although I am slightly underweight on Kyren, I will consider it a hit since I only have 2% of Cam Akers in my portfolio.

Michael Thomas (2%) – placed on IR, will miss at least the next four games, this might be the end of the line for Big Mike.

Misses:

Tee Higgins (13%) – Higgins’ owners must not be doing so well as he misses another week with a hamstring injury. Higgins has produced only two weeks all season with above 12 fantasy points. If and when he does return, he will have JB throwing him the football. And I don’t mean Joe Burrow, I mean Jake Browning.

Jalen Hurts (4%) & Josh Allen (5%) – the Bills and Eagles just played the game of the year, with two of the most prolific and versatile QBs going blow for blow into overtime. Both QBs displayed their passing and rushing chops, supporting their case for being the top 2 QBs drafted this season. Josh Allen (4 TDs) led his team in passing and rushing, and if he could throw the ball to himself, he might lead his team in receiving. Jalen Hurts (5 TDs) fell not too far behind rushing for 65 yards behind Swift’s 80.

Dak Prescott (2%) – Dallas has gone extremely pass heavy recently as the Cowboys offense is ranked 5th in total offense. Dak has already accounted for over 3K total yards with 25 total TDs paired with only 6 interceptions. Dak is in the MVP discussion as a firework matchup looms against Philadelphia in Week 14.
