NBA DFS 3/7: The Fearless Five

In this column, I’ll highlight five NBA DFS 3/7 difference-making playsin GPPs, from studs with a huge upside to value plays who could hit 8x-10x.

These are risky plays who won’t always make the most sense forcash game builds, so buyer beware!

NBA DFS 3/7 — PG

*Mike Conley, UTA (@ DET) – DK $4,900

There are plenty of high-upside options in the $6-8K range on DraftKings tonight including De’Aaron Fox, Collin Sexton, and even Shake Milton, but Mike Conley remains a solid value option who can still give up 40+ DK points (as he did last night against the Knicks). While the Pistons have done a fine job against guards this season, they have been without the defenders who accomplished that reputation (Derrick Rose, Bruce Brown). Brown looks to be back for this one, but Conley could still have his way with the Detroit backcourt. I’ll find room for some of the aforementioned guards in my GPPs, but Conley’s price is way too low and he’ll be part of my core. Game stackers might want to take a closer look at Jordan McRae (PG/SG/G/UTIL), who played 22 minutes in his debut for the Pistons and could see 25-30 minutes of action tonight, especially if Brandon Knight (questionable, knee soreness) is inactive or limited.

*UPDATE: Conley might get the night off as he’s been sitting the second half of back-to-backs. We’ll see how he feels today and pivot to Jordan Clarkson, who’s just $4,000. That leaves us an extra $900 to upgrade at another spot in the lineup.

Pivots/Stack/Punt: De’AaronFox or Shake Milton/Jordan McRae/Matthew Dellavedova

NBA DFS 3/7 — SG

Collin Sexton, CLE (vs. DEN) – DK $6,900

Sexton’s production has been elevated in the absence of Darius Garland, and he’s SG-eligible on DK. I mentioned him in the Conley writeup and will be making use of him in my core GPP builds despite a relatively difficult matchup against the Nuggets. Bargain pivots include risk-reward Memphis guard Dillon Brooks (who’s no longer forward-eligible on DK) and shooting wing Kent Bazemore (SG/SF/G/F/UTIL), who’s facing his former team and have played at least 28 minutes in six of his last nine games for the Kings. In a CLE-DEN game stack, I’d have plenty of interest in Will Barton, who’s still too cheap at $5,300 and it could be ready for an 8x breakout.

Pivots/Stack: Dillon Brooksor Kent Bazemore/Will Barton

NBA DFS 3/7 — SF

**Kevin Huerter, ATL (@ MEM) – DK $5,600

Huerter’s production increaseswithout Trae Young on the floor, but he’s definitely risky. If he sees 35minutes he can drop 45 DK points, especially in a favorable matchup withMemphis, so I’m loading him up in my GPPs. There are so many SF options on DKbecause of the preponderance of swingmen on the teams in this slate, but the mainpivots off Huerter include teammate and worthwhile bargain Cam Reddish (whoscored a career-high 28 points last night) and Bruce Brown, who could see bigminutes in his return to the Pistons rotation. If those two don’t do it foryou, there’s always sixth man and volume shooter Buddy Hield (SG/SF/G/F/UTIL),who’s still very cheap but seems to have his upside capped under 40 DK points.

Pivots: Cam Reddish or Bruce Brown/Buddy Hield

**UPDATE: Less interested if Trae Young plays, and with Steph Curry out, we need to take a closer look at Andrew Wiggins (SG/SF/G/F/UTIL), Eric Paschall (SF/PF/F/UTIL) and Damion Lee (SG/G/UTIL).

NBA DFS 3/7 — PF

Tobias Harris, PHI (@ GSW) – DK $8,300

I’ve supplied you with a slewof value options for today, so we can spend up at PF for Harris, who’s been themain beneficiary from not having Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons on the floor. He’sgot 7x upside tonight against the Warriors and should have no problem makingvalue in a favorable matchup. John Collins (who got off to a slow start lastnight but finished with 47.5 DK points) and Christian Wood (at least 35 DKpoints in nine of his last ten games) are both attractive options who can getus 40-50 DK points without much effort, but I think Harris has the most upside.

Pivots: John Collins/Christian Wood

NBA DFS 3/7 — C

Nikola Jokic, DEN (@ CLE) – DK $9,400

It really doesn’t matter if Cleveland has Andre Drummond back for this one or not, because Jokic should dominate this one from the jump. You can spend slightly down to Hassan Whiteside (second night of a back-to-back) or save even more with Jonas Valanciunas in a favorable matchup with the Hawks, but “Joker” is one of a select few players on the main slate with 70-point upside.

Pivots: Hassan Whiteside/JonasValanciunas
