MLB Picks

Sean Manaea – 6 Strikeouts – Over

Manaea has been great to start the year.  Through his first 2 starts,  Manaea has an almost 29% K rate to go along with some really solid advanced stats.  His swinging-strike rate is over 48% and his first pitch strike % is at 64%.  He’s getting ahead of the majority of the batters he’s facing which is something important to look at with K’s. 

He also gets a great matchup tonight vs. a Reds team that has been struggling over the past week against southpaws.  The Reds have a near 29% K rate vs. lefties over the past week.  His recent form and the Reds struggles has me loving the Over on this PrizePicks projection.

Shohei Ohtani – 6.5 Hitter Fantasy Score – Over

When I first saw this projection from PrizePicks for tonight, I thought it had to be wrong.  It’s not though and it’s one we really need to take advantage of.  Garcia did not look well in his 2022 debut.  He gave up a ton of contact at nearly 87%, with the majority of it being hard contact.  If we look as far back as last year, Garcia has been susceptible against lefty hitters. 

This is a great spot for a hitter in Ohtani who had a great last week at the plate.  Over his last 6 games, Ohtani has scored 8 runs and driven in another 7.  The Angels are one of my favorite places for offense and Ohtani is a big reason why.  I love the Over on this PrizePicks projection. 

Manny Machado – 8.5 Hitter Fantasy Score – Over

One of the top stacks of the day in DFS will be the Padres.  Nick Lodolo really struggled in his Major League debut and the matchup today against a Padres team with a .221 ISO against lefties this year won’t make things any easier for him.  Leading the charge so far this year has been Manny Machado. 

It’s early and a very small sample size, but Machado has been crushing lefties this season.  In just 7 ABs, Machado has a .571 AVG and a 1.667 OPS against them in 2022.  Look for Machado to keep it up in a matchup he should excel in.  I’m siding with the Over on this projection as well. 

Bryce Harper – 9.5 Hitter Fantasy Score – Over

I know what you’re thinking, Jared this is a massive number to beat tonight.  Listen, this matchup screams for Harper to do well tonight.  Kuhl has a long history of getting hit hard by lefties.  Since breaking into the Majors in 2016, lefties have a .486 slugging % and a .361 wOBA against him. 

Add in that the pitch mix from Kuhl’s lines up perfectly with Harpers strengths, we have the possibility for a massive game tonight.  One of the main pitches that Harper will see tonight is a slider, and Harper crushes slides.  It’s a high number from PrizePicks today, but I’m going with the Over. 

MLB Summary

Tonight’s a night where we have 3 of the biggest stars in the game with plus matchups at the plate.  Ohtani, Machado, and Harper should have extremely productive nights.  They and their respective teams should score a bunch of runs and we’ll take advantage of that on PrizePicks.
