It’s time for your 9/28 DFS hitting picks and stacks. We’re down to the last few games of the MLB regular season, which means variance is at its absolute highest. Rosters have expanded, lineups are changing and bullpens could fill a small catering hall. Given these circumstances, my best pieces of advice are to stick with more recent stats than we would generally use (last 14 days) and definitely tread lightly.

9/28 DFS Top Hitting Stack of the Day

Chicago White Sox vs Matthew Boyd

The White Sox are raking over the last 14 days (~500 ABs). They have the very best team AVG, SLG and wOBA in all of MLB in that span, coupled with top 3 outputs in OBP & wRC+. I’d be remiss to not add in the fact that they’re absolutely feasting off of LHPs in that same timeframe:

• .388 AVG
• .415 OBP
• .597 SLG
• 1.013 OPS
• .421 wOBA
• 169 wRC+

Conversely, M.Boyd has been terrible lately. Let’s take a closer look at his production over his last eight games started.

Tom Murphy, SEA vs. OAK

Murphy will be facing B.Anderson and if you haven’t noticed, his splits lean very heavily toward LHPs (.339 BA vs LHPs in 2019 opposed to .217 vs RHPs). He has also been excellent over the last two weeks:

9/28 DFS Hitting First Baseman 

Christian Walker, ARI vs SD  

The Diamondbacks are looking to close out strong as one of this season’s biggest offensive overachievers. Walker has been on fire at the dish, and matches up against G. Richards, who’s still trying to get his legs under him after another injury riddled season. Walker’s been an incredibly tough out the last two weeks:

9/28 DFS Hitting Second Baseman 

Garrett Hampson, COL vs MIL

It was only a matter of time until we ended up in Coors field, with one of my personal favorite players coming into 2019. Unfortunately, the season didn’t go exactly as planned; The Rockies continued to fool around with playing time for their young stars. However, the last couple weeks gave us a glimpse of what we were all hoping for in March. These stats are NOT a typo, even if they appear to be from a video game with the difficulty set to easy.

• 205 wRC+

9/28 DFS Hitting Third Baseman 

Yoan Moncada, CHW vs DET

Moncada is a must play for me in this spot, regardless if you use the aforementioned Chicago stack above. We’re seeing every bit of the star power promised when he was a highly touted prospect. Yoan’s been on fire his last 52 PA:

9/28 DFS Hitting Shortstop 

Alex Bregman, HOU at LAA

Bregman is one of the best hitters in the game as it is, and after another great season will find himself in the discussion for MVP. As if that wasn’t enough, he’s hitting nearly 100 points higher against LHPs. He’ll be facing Suarez, with a +7 ERA & 47% Hard Hit Rate on the season. Bregman has just been on fire in his last 31 PA:

• .480 ISO

9/28 DFS Hitting Outfielders 

Eloy Jimenez, CHW vs DET

I’m going back to the well here with the second key cog in that White Sox stack I mentioned earlier. Eloy started slow, and any negative perceptions of him at the plate are now firmly in the rear view mirror. Jimenez has been unreal on offense lately and I think he picks right up where he left off before this minor illness hit him. The last two weeks haven’t presented a challenge whatsoever to the youngster, my preseason favorite for AL ROY:

Abraham Almonte ARI vs SD

A season ending injury to teammate K.Marte not only opened the door for every day opportunities, but landed AA right at the top of a pretty potent Diamondback lineup. Almonte is a bit of journeyman, spending time with eight clubs in seven years never really doing much of note. However, this is DFS and the 30 year old’s recent stats look extremely strong heading into this matchup with Richards; Especially if we can get them at a discount.

Charlie Blackmon, COL vs MIL

Its always important to be cognizant of games being played in Coors, as high ownership numbers will inevitably wind up there. My second hitter in that game, and maybe my favorite overall is Charlie Blackmon. The man is impossible to get out when he plays at home, posting a .387 BA in 2019. The Rockie outfielder isnt just heading into his strong split, hes on a burner in his own right over his last 42 PA:
