It is time to go back to college and enjoy a great day of College Football.

Welcome to Week 5 of the College Football season! The fifth game for the majority of these schools sees a slate with no heavy favorites, the most prominent spread being 2nd ranked Alabama giving Arkansas 17.5 points. The DraftKings main slate will see games starting no later than 4 p.m. Eastern, while over on FanDuel they have their slate more spread out with games starting as late as 7:30 p.m. Eastern time.

10/1 CFB Top Plays

Quarterbacks

DraftKings Quarterbacks

Hunter Dekkers – Iowa St – $5,800 – This feels like a misprice on Dekkers considering Kansas has given up an average of 26.71 DraftKings points to opposing Division 1A QBs. This is the perfect bounce-back spot for Dekkers after struggling against a Baylor pass rush that was in his face all game last week. With a high game total of 57.5, Dekkers will have plenty of opportunities to score in what should be a high-paced matchup against Kansas.

Spencer Sanders – Oklahoma St – $6,500 – Sanders has had a great start to his year putting up 13 total touchdowns with only 1 turnover. Sanders’ 35.9 DraftKings points average leads all QBs on the slate, and I expect Sanders to match his average against a Baylor team that allows 225 passing yards a game. Feels like DraftKings gave us a bit of a gift with Sanders’ price being the 19th highest on the slate, he is listed tomorrow in the same range as backups.

FanDuel Quarterbacks

Devin Leary – North Carolina State – $7,600 – Last week I wrote up Sam Hartman against this same Clemson squad, and this week I’m going right back to attacking them in a Top 10 matchup. While I don’t think Leary will match Hartman’s 38.48 FanDuel points last week, I do believe he will have some success against the Clemson pass defense that gave up 337 yards and 6 touchdowns last week. Leary himself is coming off of a 320 passing and 4 touchdown game last week against Connecticut.

Will Rogers – Mississippi St- $10,000 – Rogers comes into this game as the 6th highest priced QB on the slate, but that is for good reason. Besides a bad game at LSU where he going scored 9.36 on FanDuel, Rogers has averaged 33.02 in the 3 other games. Rogers currently leads the nation in completions and passing touchdowns, as well as being top 3 in attempts and yards. This weekend Rogers takes on a Texas A&M squad that is coming off of giving up 29.34 FanDuel points to Arkansas’ KJ Jefferson, while Rogers isn’t the same running QB as Jefferson he should still be able to pick apart the pass defense.

Pivots:

DraftKings – Tanner Morgan – Minnesota- $6,300 “low-end”, Sam Hartman – Wake Forest – $8,400 “mid-range”, Bryce Young- Alabama – $9,900 “high-end”

FanDuel – D.J Uiagalelei – Clemson – $8,100 “low-end”, Jayden Daniels – LSU – $9,500 “mid-range”, Dillon Gabriel – Oklahoma – $10,700 “high-end”

Running Backs

DraftKings Running Backs

Brad Roberts – Air Force – $7,000 – Roberts has been a popular player the last few weeks playing on the smaller mid-week slates, but his ownership should see a huge dip now that he is on a 13-game slate this weekend. The field may stay away from Roberts this week after seeing that Navy has allowed an average of 69 rushing yards a game, but the number is a bit skewed a bit from their opening game against a Delaware team that has struggled running the ball all year. I expect Roberts to continue his early season success and improve on his 116 rushing yards and 1.8 touchdown average a game.

Deuce Vaughn – Kansas St – $7,200 Vaughn has come out of the gates firing this season, through Kansas State’s first 4 games, Vaughn has racked up 468 rushing yards to go with 3 touchdowns. This is another spot where I think game log watchers will get away from after seeing that Vaughn has failed to reach the endzone in KSU’s last 2 games but in those games, Vaughn has still had 55 touches for a total of 240 yards with an 18.5 DraftKings point average. The matchup this week against Texas Tech will give him a chance to find the endzone once again.

FanDuel Running Backs

CJ Donaldson – West Virginia – $6,800 – Donaldson is a very interesting player, he emerged as WVU’s top RB despite being a Freshman listed as a Tight End. The former high school WR has taken over the starting RB spot from Mathis Jr, so far into his 3-game college career the Freshman has 2 100-yard rushing games as well as 3 rushing touchdowns. At $6,800 he feels like a bit of a steal considering that WVU has recently turned to a run-first offense so he should continue to see the bulk of the carries for the team.

Eric Gray – Oklahoma – $8,600 – Another week, another chance to play Gray. Gray has started this season with 3 100+ rushing games in his first 4 starts including back-to-back 110+ games the last 2 weeks. Gray has had a good fantasy year despite only finding the endzone in 1 game this season. Last game we saw something that will raise Gray’s stock and that is his pass-catching abilities. Last week against Kansas St, Gray had 7 catches for 45 yards which doubled his passing-catching yards coming into the game. Oklahoma has relied on the arm of Gabriel so far this year, but if Gray can continue to see targets then the pass-heavy offense won’t hinder his production.

Pivots:

DraftKings – Jirehl Brock – Iowa St – $5,400 “low-end”, Eric Gray – Oklahoma – $7,600 “mid-range”, Mohamed Ibrahim – Minnesota – $9,500 “high-end”

FanDuel – Demie Sumo-Karngbaye – North Carolina State$6,400 “low-end”, Will Shipley – Clemson- $8,800 “mid-range”, Mohamed Ibrahim – Minnesota – $10,600 “high-end”

DraftKings Wide Receivers

Xavier Hutchinson – Iowa St – $7,800 Hutchinson is my favorite play on the whole slate. Hutchinson picked up where he left off last season, through ISU’s first 4 games Hutchinson has averaged 27.3 DraftKings points. His connection with ISU’s new starting QB, Hunter Dekkers, has been very fruitful with Hutchinson having at least 8 receptions each game as well as a touchdown in 3 out of the first 4 games. The matchup this week against Kansas will give Hutchinson a lot of opportunities to showcase his skills.

Traeshon Holden – Alabama – $5,900 – Alabama the last few seasons have been a Wide Receiver factory with WRs like DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle who are currently playing big roles on their NFL teams. They currently have 3 WRs who might join the growing list; Jarmaine Burton, Kobe Prentice, and Holden. While Burton and Prentice are both in play against Arkansas this week, I’m focusing on the only one of the three who has had at least 3 catches in each of Alabama’s games. Holden leads Alabama’s WR group in catches, yards, and touchdowns. Having the lowest price of the 3 WRs makes me like him more than the other two because it allows a $900 increase in another position compared to Burton’s price.

Pivots:

Braydon Johnson – Oklahoma St – $4,300 “low-end”, Charlie Jones – Purdue – $6,400 “mid-range”, Marvin Mims – Oklahoma – $8,500 “high-end”

FanDuel Wide Receivers

Kayshon Boutte – LSU – $6,000- Boutte at $6000 feels wrong. Boutte is a top 3 WR in the majority of 2023 NFL Draft boards. This season Boutte hasn’t been playing like his position on draft boards would suggest, but coming into this game he may have some extra motivation to show who he is. The biggest motivation coming into this game is the childbirth narrative. Boutte missed last week’s game to be with his girlfriend who was giving birth to their son, he’ll be excited to get back on the field with his teammates and show his newborn what he can do. The other motivation Boutte will have is quieting his former teammate, Koy Moore, who transferred to Auburn this season. Moore said in an interview this week that the best WR in the locker room was himself not Boutte.

Beaux Collins – Clemson – $7,100 – This week I am going back to the St John Bosco High School connection, Collins and Uiagalelei. Last week Collins left the game in the 1st quarter and didn’t return until after half, but despite that, he still had 4 catches for 60 yards and scored a touchdown in overtime. That performance against Wake Forest ended up being his highest-scoring game so far on FanDuel. I expect Uiagalelei to target him often especially going up against an NC State squad that has been great defensively this season.

Pivots:

Mike Brown-Stephens – Minnesota – $6,000 “low-end”, Jarmaine Burton – Alabama – $6,700 “mid-range”, Cam Camper – Indiana – $8,500 “high-end”
